I'm in the same boat. My approval letter was dated Feb 27th, and still no green card. What did they say when you called them? I'm guessing our address change somehow gummed up the system, since our status is still 'initial review' online with the verbage about having changed our address on Feb 27th. I still have 2.5 weeks to wait before I can call them on it.

SO today i received my greencard, so 9 days after I called to inquire about my case.

But if you havent gotten it by now, you might have gotten stuck in the system like me? and I would probably try and call, the good news if that after calling you can get it resolved pretty quickly. Even with any address changes.

Well yea I thought I had to wait a long time for any response. But once i called they told me to call in a week because after 45 days they could send the notification to the local office.. but when I called another person it needs to be 60 days ugh. From my experience those customer care people who first answer the phone sometimes know less about the whole process than us..

Well anyway when i called about 65 days after the letter, i got the first rep but he connected me to a higher up rep after about 30 min of hold time, and he told me he would send a letter to the local office. And 5 days later I received an email that my card was in production. And then 4 days ltr I recieved a number that USPS had picked it up and they sent me a tracking number and that I should get it within 7 days.

As for the change of address I wouldnt worry, Did you get an email confirming the change of adres about 2 days after changing? ANd did you get a letter from them already at your new address?

Because the same day I called them to follow up, i also changed my address online and was adfraid that would be a problem but so far so good. I will update when i receive the green card.

I know I am new to posting in this forum, I have been following for a while now. And just wondering, when you update info on members, and when you update the Approve status, is that the date that the actual approval letter came in? or when you got the online card production email? Cuz from what I read, i think its both? because I see after the email it takes 1-2 weeks to receive the card. But does anyone have any idea how long I wait for the card after i receive the actual approval case letter from USCIS? I am in Vermont processing since I am from NYC, USCIS received my applications May 18, 2012 and I received the approval letter January 26th 2013, "congratulations your application to adjust status has been approved, you should receive your card shortly. If you do not recieve your card within 60days please contact.... etc" Well I called a few days ago but they told me it hasent been a full 60 days and to call back monday. So i am planning to do that , just wondering what are your thoughts about this situation based on any of your experience.

I started posting on the site two years ago. Came in on a tourist visa and overstayed, met my hubby he was a citizen, got married and was granted conditional green card. Now may4th is the 90 days filling period. I thought the form was pretty straight forward. But when I started reading the forum I thought ok maybe I should send in a little more. Like more than just past 2-3 months of bills but up to 18 months back maybe?

I am just confused about the biometric appnt, i thought i didnt need it anymore. But apparently everyone has to file it and pay the $590. I am living in the US not military or anything like that. So just the i-751 form and a 590 check right? I dont need the fingerprints card, photos or any additional forms right?

If anyone knows the answer I would really really really greatly appreciate any feedback and response.

Now the hard part.. LIFE... Lol

if u can reschedule the interview date, i am sure u can cancel an info pass appnt if u get the descision.

Ohh btw the online status thing really does suck...

I got my welcome notice on august 9th and online it says they mailes it on the 16th.. hmm

On August 16, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

my I130 is still in initial review and I already got a approval letter for it in the mail like a week ago...

so yea...

still waiting or my GC!

but the stamp on the passport worked for gettin my learners permit at DMV

That's true on my passport she wrote IR6 that is the 10 years green card

No more interview or nothing like that since the status is permanent forever just the card it self is what expire.

yea i got my approval letter like a week ago, waiting for my GC 2 come in the mail !

I went to the dmv the other day, passed my permit , had 2 wait for like an hour after passing though for the supervisor, they said ok u passed but the supervisor has to approve the fact that u dont have a GC but only the stamp... and apparently he had 2 verify that the GC stamp in my passport was not fake... so offcourse until he came it took over an hour... but im glad it all turned out OK and i can schedule my a test date for my druvers licence :)

so our appointment was at 1PM in Garden city and we arrived at 12 since it was too early we went to McDonald's right next door to eat something.

we pass by security around 12:20 and drop our letter and wait to be called downstairs around 1:20 we were call to go upstairs and we wait about 15 min to be called ,the IO was an asian lady that i feel so bad to no remember her name

we went to her office that was full of little bonsai trees and she swore us ,she start saying my name and to see my passport and she ask me:

ok where did you guys met?

i told her the place and she was asking about (was a restaurant) and my wife was answering the questions with me she ask who attend the weeding ,if i knew her family and who support me to come to US(i came with 20 years old)and than she said that if we were married for 2 years we will get a permanent resident for 10 years and we were like wait a minute we are married for two years we just celebrate last week?!?!?and she apologize maybe she read a 9 instead of 7 on the papers...lol.

well after that we spend almost 30 min just talking to her about everything that you can imagine(world cup,trips,how long island is better than NYC...lol) she was so cool, after that she said that she is gonna stamp my passport if i need to travel and that the green card will arrive in 2 months(i know that it doesn't take that long)

Yey I got an email from USCIS stating card production for I-485. :dance: :dance: I was wondering if what did you have in your welcome letter? Did you guys received a booklet (Guide for first time immigrants) on the day of your interview? :blush:

Yay! I'm glad u also had such a pleasent non stressfull interview experience!! no, I didn't get any booklet.I just got the letter explaiing conditional greencard and telling me I needed 2 file for removing of conditions may 2012 and the passport stamp. Also got an email about card production ordered same say even though my 130 is still in initial review.. Lol

yea in the past i would have never thought i would be married already, i was sure i would be near 30 and one of the last of my friends to get married.. but when u meet that person you know they r the one and theres nothing to wait for. Im so lucky to have met him, life is short and he makes me life happy and Im glad I didnt have to wait to meet him. Being with him is the best part of my day and makes my life truly happy no matter what, its having ur best friend around all the time <3 <3 We r so lucky ! :*

I checked the online status and the 130 is touched on 08/05 but it says it is still in initial review... And the 485 is in Card/ Document Production... weird

well in the USCIS website it says:

If You Recently Became a Permanent Resident

After you become a permanent resident we mail you a welcome notice. Then we mail your new permanent resident card (green card). If you move before you get your card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 when you move.

You should also call customer service if any of the following occur:

* You received your welcome notice or card, but you believe there is an error

* It has been more than 30 days since you became a permanent resident, and you have not received your welcome notice.

* It has been more than 30 days since you received your welcome notice but you have not received your new card.

So im thinking in max 2 months u should be getting ur GC but it doesnt take that long.

Permanent residents can work in the U.S. When you were granted permanent residence, we may have placed a special stamp in your passport or given you a temporary status document. Until you receive your new Permanent Resident Card, use this stamp or document if:

* You apply for an unrestricted social security card

* You apply for a driver's license

* You need to travel abroad for less than one year

So im thinking it doesnt really expire...

BTW

Did u guys know that u cannot leave the US for more than a year because then u could lose ur Green Card, also ppl who travel in and out and are just here couple months of the year might lose their green cards since they are not peemantly living here but in other countries. My friend got married and her husband got his conditional GC and they left to live in Ukraine now... and i dont think its a smart decision cuz when time comes to file for the restricting of conditions they might have problems since the officer will see that they are not permanantly living in the US

yea finishing now would prob be a good idea cuz the longer u wait the harder it gets to go back to school. I have been out of school for like a year and a half now and thinking maybe of going back for my masters but its seems really really hard and when i think i would need to go back from work and still be doing hw I dont know how i would do it all again :huh:

lol yea i would go crazy sittin at home, i know wat u mean. Few days off is nice, but its like the more time i spend at home the less i do cuz i get more lazy lol.

I was looking at Mexico vacations cuz i would like to go somewhere for a week before i change my job cuz after it might be hard to get off. But im not sure if Mexico will have nice weather now, i been to cancun once but that was in December. I think September might be rainy season so would suck to go and have it rain all the time. Im soo excited!

Also Im looking for wedding dresses for our church wedding which we are planning in our home country next year. My relatives are helping me look for a nice place, which you apparently have to book a year in advance, some places the dates I want august 2011 are already booked

I am excited and kinda scared to try on wedding dresses cuz i dont know how I will pick. Also i need to set a budget cuz we r paying for everything outselves, i think i might set a budget of 3 thousand for a dress. I would feel bad speding more for a dress I will only wear a couple of hours...

Yea so this is our story. We had an interview at 9. Well I couldn't sleep till 430... Lol We left at like 720 there was traffic and got there like 815. Went in to the big building, security searched us and we wentt to the office on the same floor and handed out interview letter to the 1st window and they told us 2 sit in section c. Lady came called group of people but they were 8 o clock interviews. Then lady came again and called a group of ppl including us yay! Then the lady told us to get in line and brought us upstairs into another waiting room where thrre were still ppl from the 8 o clock group btw. We were waiting and waiting and waiting and I was freezing cuz I had a halter dress on. We startedd 2 get nervous since they called everyone from our group and some ppl from the 2nd group. But after like an hour there they called us finally!

Some IOs seemed nice and some looked sooo frigin mean like if looks could kill someone there would seriously be dead! The really mean lady came which looked really mean and had like a constipaed look on her face... Haha and I'm like ######... Knowing our luck we get her... But then a Really nice guy came in and called us. Smiling shaking our hands saying hello. He took us in, swore us in, he said don't be nervous you guys, I will ask u some questions personal but won't be so bad. Asked for some documents from both of us, so me bein soo organized instantly gave him what he asked for, proof of citizenship, I'd, pssport.asked me 2 confirm my name adress date of birth, didn't really ask my hubby 2 confirm anything. Asked how we met, when my hubby proposed, do we plan do be together, bout our parents , are we just doing this for the greencard etc etc.. he asked us if we have more proof of bona fide marriage that we wanna give so I gave him all the documents and then he noticed my engagemtn ring (a lot of ppl do, its kinda big and shiny) and he was like ooh that's nice! And I'm like thank you he picked it out all by himself. It was even easier from then on. Said we look very honest but we he is obligated 2 ask these questions bout fraud etc etc 485 questions. Looked through our photo album, chatted bout our philly trip, reccommended a great museum in nyc. And said confratulations u guys r approved. We were so happy! And asked if he could take one more hour of our time, did we eat? and we said offcourse he can take some time. And he said ok he will stamp the passport, for us 2 get smth 2 eat and come back in an hour 2 the window. Explained the greencard should come in 2 months but if it doesnt that we should give him a call and gave us his adress and said that if it comes earlier then great and to send him a thank you card. Wat a great guy! We r actually thinking of sendin him a posecard from the place he said was nice. I wonder if that would be appropriate? Well I wish everyone such a pleasnt interview experince as We had!!!

And we got such a cool nice funny IO officer! He was so nice! Even told us about a cool museum in NYC that we should check out if we like musueams cuz he saw we were in philadelphia at the art museum. He wrote down all the info and adress 4 us. Really it was such a nice guy!!

Now we are waiting, he asked if we could give him one more hour of our time and to go get coffee something 2 eat and come back 2 pick up the stamped passport which is the temp green card!! Yay!!!! Yay!!! I'm soo happy I almost cried from the happiness stress etc... Woo-hoo

Oh one question which was suprising is when he asked me I came here in 2005 and the visa is only valid 6 months so why did I stay so much longer? I was like uuuhhhhhhh..... Lol but it came out good! Yay

And now its 530 so I don't know if there's a point of trying 2 go back 2 sleep for 20 min....hubby is sleeping which is good cuz when ur sick u need rest. Now apart from the Pizza Hut thing, I got three call-backs but im not interested in sellin anything. But Krys girl ur right... They suck at getting back after we submit resumes... this waiting and lack of communication does not help us cuz we dont know what goin on; if we are over-qualified or under-qualified...

I wouldnt be able to work on commission, I work at a boutique now and I am not one of those ppl who are all up on you: oh do u need this? do u want to see a size in this? do u need this? I figure if ppl like something and wanna buy it they ask for a size, i cannot push merchandise at someone... I hate these kind of people who come in and say do you have ex: some high healed shoes? Im like ummmm well everything is on display how am I supposed 2 know wat u like?! Argh! I liked working with people but now Its starting to get really annoying I just wanna get a job in my field where I sit by a desk and do something I learned about in school.

IT SUCKS!!!! Now I remember why I stayed at my last job for 7 yrs (lol). I hate sending out resumes and hearing nothing back, like my resume just fell in this big black hole . If wish employers would send an email saying we decided blah, blah. Atleast that I way we know something.

yea the job market majorly sux! few yrs back, u finished college and u had a guaranteed job which gave 30K-40K for a start!!! now like u guys said getting an interview is nearly impossible ! and i know wat u mean Krys, when i think that i need to find job openings, send out resumes, go and talk all that bulls*it on the interviews: oh how u r excited to work here for such a great company with so many opportunities and learn new skills and do ur best...yay! hire me! im the best... omg BLA! no wonder im working at one place for like 3yrs now which is like no experience since its completely out of my field, so finished college a year ago Business Management and am still working at a place no where close to my field. so basically going applying to companies I have zero experience... well i guess i should be glad I atleast have a college Bachelors degree but it is still very frustrating. I am going job hunting in a week or two and im kinda scared of how it will be. I am really hoping my school can find me something at a nice office where I wont be miserable for the whole day *GULP*

aargghh my throat is starting to be scratchy!! I need to take more vitamin c and tamiflu and hope i dont get sick with the flu cuz if i need to take even more days off for bein sick, i will probably be fired... my hubby sittin home with a 100F fever... hope that doesnt affect the interview.. they should understand someone could be a lil sick... He just needs to be coherent enough to answer questions!
