  1. Very True !!

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?

To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over

5 Crore children start playing tennis,

50 Lakh learn to play tennis,

    5 Lakh learn professional tennis,

    50,000 come to the circuit,

    5000 reach the grand slam,

    50 reach Wimbledon,

    4 to semi final,

    2 to the finals,

When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?"

And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?"

Be thankful to GOD for 98% of good things in life.

  2. yes for right now the good news ifor me is DS3032/AOS bill being generated on monday.

    Great News ....

yes, but hey at least this will make me happy. paying some bills and fees, going to post office. Seeing some progress. Who knows maybe that k3 will fly to embassy before CR1

  3. I had my IR1 visa last night and what a relief!!!

I'll move to America with my dear husband by the end of August.

I have now a question about my sponsor that bought a new house and will change address soon it means it will be my new address too because i will live with my sponsor first, she will send the sponsor's change of address that was with the affidavit of support.

Now i remember i checked yes on the DS230? part 2, when they asked if i wanted my social security number and card sent to me. Question : How do I notice the change of address?

And another question : Are there any other places i have to give my new address?

I also wanted to thank all the people that helped me with this difficult and stressfull process, merci merci merci

Congratulations. Please contact local USCIS office (the city you are moving in U.S). In my opinion just wait for a while first get your green card on the sponsor address and then move anywhere. Tell you the truth it is not easy to get duplicate green card if you will lose it in a mail.

  4. Thanks every one for your sincere wishes. But it does seem like a hopeless situation for me and my daughter. I haven't yet heard from the social worker of the NGO I had written to about seeking advice on this matter from an immigration attorney. And time is running out.

God this is difficult. If I spend my meagre savings on the air fare, only to be denied entry and to be turned back that would be horrible for me and my daughter.

I really am at a loss as to what to do. Should I take that risk or abondon the idea completely. And if I abondon the idea of coming back to USA then I am left to face the tough time I have been facing since my return to my country. I wish there was some no man's land here on this earth where I could just disappear and be at peace. Sartre had once said that "Hell is other people". And I know exactly what that means. Here in my country it is a very difficult life for a divorced woman.

    Laila,

I think you must first communicate to the lawyer prior to proceeds in this regard. As you mentioned in your profile you are from Pakistan, in my opinion it would be a great if you talk to ‘DESI’ lawyer because ‘DESI’ lawyer must have a better understanding of your case as compare to others due to some cultural influences & differences. By chance I know a very good Pakistani dedicated, energetic, young Pakistani professional. If you really interested I will send you his e.mail address or URL of his law firm, you can briefly explain him your case. I hope things will workout for you.

  5. The Power of Prayer

Muniba, a young Muslim university student, was home for the summer. She had gone to visit some sisters one evening & the time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year.

She ended up staying longer than she had planned.

Evening came & Muniba had to walk home alone, but she wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Muniba asked "God" to keep her safe from harm & danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it.

However, halfway down the alley, she noticed a man standing at the end, as though he was waiting for her. She became uneasy & began to pray, asking for "God's" protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness & security wrapped around her; she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man & arrived home safely.

The following day, she read in the paper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley, just twenty minutes after she had been there.

Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy & the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety & to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a line up to see if she could identify him.

She agreed & immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down & confessed.

The officer thanked Muniba for her bravery & asked if there was anything they could do for her, she asked if they would ask the man one question.

Muniba was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her."

NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF PRAYER!

He, who loses money, loses much

He, who loses a friend, loses much more

He, who loses FAITH, loses ALL

Please don’t forget to keep in your prayers and thoughts your family, friends and specially everyone in our thread and also fellow VJ’s.

    Wasalam

    ~ Imran ….

  10. Grand Papa

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped, the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. "We must do something about Grandfather," said the son. "I've had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor." So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you making?" Just as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up." The four-year-old smiled and went back to work. The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every meal with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth soiled.

Children are remarkably perceptive. Their eyes ever observe, their ears ever listen, and their minds ever process the messages they absorb. If they see us patiently provide a happy home atmosphere for family members, they will imitate that attitude for the rest of their lives. The wise parent realizes that every day the building blocks are being laid for the child's future. Let's be wise builders and role models.

"Life is about people connecting with people, and making a positive difference. Take care of yourself, ... and those you love, ... today, ... and everyday!"

Congrats Shon, I am happy for you. Even though our visa journey is over, still I keep coming to read what is up with you gals and guys. I am happy for you. 10 months of AR is hell, but glad it is over now for u.

As you may remember, our AR was done in 3 weeks and now my hubby is here with me, he got his SSN already, but He seems soooooooooooooooooo DEPRESSED after coming.

  14. Ugly Bride Derailed Arranged Marriage

Lawsuit: New Delhi woman was too homely for Massachusetts man

JULY 6--Claiming that the bride in an arranged marriage was too homely for his son, a Massachusetts man is suing friends who sought to set up the New Delhi nuptials. In his lawsuit, Dr. Vijai Pandey contends that he traveled with his family to India to meet his 37-year-old son Pranjul's future wife, but was "extremely shocked" to discover that the woman was "ugly," had "protruded bad teeth," and could not speak English or hold a conversation. The family called off the ceremony, noted Pandey in his Hampden Superior Court complaint, a copy of which you can find below. The lawsuit, which seeks $200,000 in damages, names as defendants Lallan and Kanti Giri, a Maryland couple whose niece was the proposed bride. As Pandey sees it, the Giris are guilty of, among other things, fraud and conspiracy for trying to arrange a union with their unattractive relative. Along with supposedly suffering emotional distress, Pandey alleges that the derailed wedding cost him money spent on travel and long-distance telephone calls. (12 pages)

  15. Assalam-o-Alaikum WRWB.

Okay, thanks Hafiz30, for your message. I wanted to thank you on the forum, rather than in personal message, for keeping in touch with all Paki's by occasionally sending messages.

Well it has happened to me quite a few times that I get really really frustrated when I think of things that can go wrong which may, ALLAH forbids, delay her arrival here. And I guess this may happen to many going through this process. But everytime I tell myself that this situation is just temporary and I get over it.

But I was reading Psoft's reply in which he mentioned that doctor can cancel or delay medical if applicant is expecting!!!!!!!!!! wow if that happenes, I dont know how will we be able to handle that, because she asks everyday whether I got approval or not???? I tell her it will take just few more weeks, because I think if I tell her its gonna take months before she comes to me, she will just cry day and night, so I always tell her just few more weeks.

Anyways, I hope everyone else is coping with this stress the best they can. I do know some are strgoner than others, but I guess we are not that strong, may ALLAH give all of us strength, AAMEEN.

If they dont move forward very fast with K3s now, i guess I will have to just resign and go to Pakistan and be with her, and come back with her and start new job search.

What was Anil Kapoor thinking when he sang:

Mere pyar main, mere intizaar main, such such kaho tum nay kia kiaaaaaaaa????????

    Kabhi bhoola kabhi yaad kiaaaa.......

I guess we dont have the "Kabhi bhoola" part in our stories, we should say:

Tere pyaar main tere intizaar main such such kahoon main nay kia kiaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

    Nahi bhoola bas yaad kia..................

Well sorry Mr. kapoor for editing your song but if you go through, USCIS, I-130s, I-129Fs, NVC, NOA1s, NOA2s, etc. you will also like our version of this song.

THNAKS. I think when all of our families come here, INSHA ALLAH very soon, we should have a get together. I am inviting all of you in advance, to come visit us in Virginia.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ALLAH HAFIZ

    Assalam-o-Alaikum

dont worry inshallah everything will work out for you. What city is your wife in? If she is in karachi then there are other places she can go for her medical and if there is a doctor that you know thats can do the medical there wont be any problems what so ever. I think we used to have a member IA12 whose wife was expecting at the time of the interview and it worked out in his favor cause he got an early interview date.

so I m sure Allah will make everything good for you and for everyone who is going thru islamabad...ameen

    AOA...

Just wanted to add something for you guys...

Please send me your interview experience so I can add your experiences in the page thats showed in my signature.....all of you are welcome to take a look at it.....

    good luck to you all!

Wsalam brother, sister it is alwyas good to see your posts ...!!! by the way thanks for support ....

The Snake Catcher (By, Jalaluddin Rumi):

    -----~~~~~~-----

There was once snake catcher who once went to the mountains. Due to the winter cold and heavy snow, many very big snakes lay motionless, as if they were dead.

The Snake Catcher picked up one of these seemingly lifeless snakes and took it to Baghdad, with the purpose of using it for a show. Showing it off, he made big claims as to how he had brilliantly captured the snake.

However, when the sun began to shine and its warmth cloaked the snake, the coldness in its body disappeared. The signs of life were soon apparent and when the snake began to move, the Snake Catcher and all those around, fled.

Moral: Our Nafs (self) is like that Snake. With Tazkyia (purification), Mushaqqat (effort), our Nafs becomes frozen. It appears to be dead. But give it a little heat from the fire of sin and it will bite again. A little exposure to some past sins and the Nafs swings back to life.

We should not think that we have killed our Nafs and thus become unmindful. Yes, with some Mujahadah (striving), Suhbat (company) of the Sheikh, Tilawat (recitation) of the Qur'an, Dikrullah, following Deen and Shariah and in building up that contact and love for Allah Ta'ala and Rasulullah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), and the Nafs can be frozen. However, a little taste of sin revives the evil Nafs.

  17. Wonder if anyone of you been through this unique situation

I was born in New Jersey, moved to Pakistan with my family when I was 5 and recently (2 months ago) married and moved to UK with my husband. My husband is a Pakistani citizen working in the UK (he is on workpermit and does not hold permanent residency in Britain).

Now the questions and confusions are:

    1. Where should I file petition I-130 for my husband? US Embassy London, US Embassy Islamabad or USCIS Vermont?

    2. If I file I-130 at USCIS Vermont, do I need to be physically present in USA?

    3. If I file at USCIS Vermont, what address should I supply on I-130 for correspondence? my current UK address or a US address ?

    4. If I supply a US address, Could it be a relative's (e.g. brother, uncle) address or it got be an address where I am gona live with my spouse when he comes to USA?

    5. For sponsoring my husband, I need to have a US domicile as explained here http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigr...nfo_1328.html#4. Since I never lived or worked in USA after 5 except for few visits. , how do I establish a US domicile when sponsoring (I-864)? Could social security number/card or an identification card or a bank account be used as a proof of US domicile? or if I arrange a place to live in US, could that be used as proof of domicile?

    6. If our baby is born in the UK, do I have to apply family based immigration for him/her as well? or there are some easy process for that?

Any help and sharing of experience would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Q: How is domicile determined?

Domicile is a complex issue determined on a case-by-case basis. Many U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents live outside the U.S. on a temporary basis, usually for work or family considerations. A petitioner can be considered domiciled in the U.S. if he/she can demonstrate to the consular officer's satisfaction an intention to return to a permanent residence there.

Petitioners who can show that they had a domicile in the U.S., but who are now living temporarily abroad because of certain types of employment, shall be considered to have retained their domicile in the United States. The following are the qualifying types of employment:

    Employment by the U. S. government, an American institution of research recognized by the Attorney General; an American firm or corporation engaged in whole or in part in the development of foreign trade and commerce with the U. S. or a subsidiary thereof; a public international organization in which the U. S. participates by treaty or statute;

    Authorization to perform ministerial or priestly functions of a religious denomination having a bona fide organization in the United States and is stationed abroad pursuant to that calling;

Being engaged solely as a missionary by a religious denomination or by an interdenominational mission organization having a bona fide organization within the United States and being stationed abroad pursuant to that calling.

There may be other circumstances in which a petitioner can show that his or her stay abroad is clearly of a temporary nature, so that s/he can be found still to have a domicile in the United States. For example, persons who are abroad temporarily to study, teach or engage in other activities that do not meet the requirements of Section 316(B), 317 or 319(B) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (those listed above) may nevertheless be considered to have a domicile in the United States if they can satisfy the consular officer that they did not, in fact, give up their domicile in the United States and establish a domicile abroad.

Q: How can the petitioner establish a domicile?

If the petitioner travels to the United States and sets up a principal residence, where he or she intends to reside, he or she may then qualify to petition an immigrant. Establishing a principal residence would entail obtaining an address (a house, apartment, etc.) and taking up physical residence. There is no minimum time to establish residence, but a credible demonstration of an actual residence in the United States is required. If the officer is convinced that the petitioner has in fact taken up residence in the U.S., the applicant will then be able to receive his/her immigrant visa. A convincing combination of several of the following types of action might be considered as an indication of U.S. domicile:

Establishing an address in the United States

Setting up a bank account and transferring funds to the U.S.

    Making investments

    Seeking employment

Applying for a Social Security number

Voting in local, state or federal elections

In my opinion because your case is unique nature talk to a lawyer and then act as per his/her advice. I am positive that you can’t file petition in any service center in the United States because you are not under their geographical jurisdiction.

DCF from Islamabad will be the only solution of your case in my opinion.
