  2. Green card legally authorize an alien to live, work and on re-enter into United States without any problem after foreign visits. Please keep in mind that it is not a citizenship (US Passport). Green card holder bound to take visa the place he/she need to visit however I know for sure there are too many countries waive that visa conditions for green card holders.

The more common criterion, though, is time based. There are three important time limits to know about.

If you are absent for less than six months, you will rarely have a problem. It is BCBP's job to prove that you abandoned your residency. Absent that, you are considered to never really have left.

If you are absent for more than six months but less than a year, the burden of proof reverses. It becomes your job to prove that you are still a permanent resident. This is based on the concept that after six months, you have to be readmitted and have to prove that you are still admissible. As a side note, after an absence of more than six months, the various criteria for admissibility apply again, too. For instance, if you in the meantime had become inadmissible, say through an HIV infection, you might have a problem.

If you are absent for more than a year, your Green Card will be considered almost automatically abandoned. Once that happened, there is usually no recourse. However, if through some miracle the immigration officer didn't ask you how long you have been out of the USA when you return, then you may be in luck and able to keep your Green Card after all. You should in this case not leave the USA for a very long time, and make it your bona fide residence again.

  3. Salaam brothers and sisters

Hope all is fine or at least moving along on this journey

Question: does anyone know the conditions on conditional two year green card, and can one travel freely to other countries(other than country of origin) on this card??

references and input will be of great help

    thanks

    WS,

You are doing great. Conditional green card is a “Green card” however it last only for two years. Traveling is allowed on it.

  4. Tailing a monkey man in search of healing powers

    ====================================================================

    ====================================================================

KOLKATA (Reuters) - Thousands of people are flocking to an impoverished Indian village in eastern West Bengal state to worship a man they believe possesses divine powers because he climbs up trees in seconds, gobbles up bananas and has a "tail."

Devotees say 27-year-old villager Chandre Oraon is an incarnation of the Hindu monkey god Hanuman -- worshipped by millions as a symbol of physical strength, perseverance and devotion.

"He climbs up trees, behaves like a monkey and is a strict vegetarian, but he is no god and his condition is just a congenital defect," says Bhushan Chakraborty, the local medical officer.

Tucked away in a hamlet in Banarhat, over 400 miles north of Kolkata, the state capital, devotees wait for hours to see or touch Oraon's 13-inch tail, believing that it has healing powers.

Doctors said the "tail" -- made up of some flesh but mostly of dark hair -- was simply a rare physical attribute.

"It is a congenital anomaly, but very rarely do we find such cases," B. Ramana, a Kolkata-based surgeon, told Reuters.

  7. Hmm. I don't see a message for the I-864 Form being received and / or reviewed by the NVC.

I'm curious because my I-864 Form was delivered to the NVC on June 9. But the automated system still doesn't say anything about it. Does this mean that it hasn't even been enterered yet? Or does this mean that it hasn't been reviewed yet?

NVC usually takes two to three weeks for I-864 review.

  8. Hello All,

I am new to VJ. My wife has her K-3 Interview in Islamabad next month. I was wondering if anyone has had trouble getting a K-3, or if the process normally goes smoothly.

I was reading stuff about some guys (husbands) having to go through Administrative Processing -- does that happen with females too?

    Wish you all the best.

Make sure you already have following doc.

1)DS-156, DS-230 (completed and filled out with Adobe Acrobat Pro)

    2) I-134 (completed and filled out with Acrobat, and notarized -- this form must be notarized)

    3) W-2, tax transcripts from tax years 2003-2005 (you have to get the transcripts from the IRS -- call 1-800-829-0922 and ask for letter 1722)

    4) A dated letter on company letterhead from my employer stating how long U have been working for them, position and job title, annual salary, and detailed employment history (signed by my boss)

    5) Most recent bank account statements (Originals)

    6) Copies of phone bills

    7) Money transferred receipts to Pakistan or bank wire slips (If any)

    8) Gift exchanges

    9) Wedding pictures

    etc

    Thanks!

  9. so psoft what is your guess on when your interview might be. Do you think i should pursue the I-130 while i wait on the k3. that 2 year green card is bunch of nonsense, i cant believe you have to reapply for removal of conditions. What the heck(yes i know why its there, i am only complaining).

Well, in my opinion Islamabad should give me some relaxation because of my priority date that is December 09, 2004. Everything else on Almighty let see I can only pray.

    Hi everybody!

    Few questions Please

    1. we submitted ds-230 part-1 with nvc, do we need it again for consulate?

    2. What do i need from my spouse(USC) e.g copies of I-130 or NOAs or

    3. as you know all Mother name on birth certificate in rural areas is not mentioned, same with me, is that

requirement, if yes, what should i do for this?

i have already the tax return for 2005.

    Fooki

    1. we submitted ds-230 part-1 with nvc, do we need it again for consulate?

A, Yes, you will submit it again DS230 I

    2. What do i need from my spouse(USC) e.g copies of I-130 or NOAs or

A, Good Idea to have I-130 however approval notice is must

    3. as you know all Mother name on birth certificate in rural areas is not mentioned, same with me, is that

requirement, if yes, what should i do for this?

A, In Pakistan you can get birth certificate of any type  (Urdu, English, Arabic even in spanish  ) spend some 'RS'

You should have to have three years of tax returns or tax summaries so ask your wife send you that along with Employment verification letter.

Also if co-sponsor is involved in your case then his/her tax returns or tax summaries and other financial documents required.

  10. psoft is the NOA2 receipt number different than the NOA1 receipt number. What i want to know is, can i find out that number before i get it in the mail. Thanks

NOA1 & NOA2 both have same receipt number (i.e. case number) that consists of thirteen characters (3 alphabets – prefix & 10 numbers) 3 alphabets represents the service center you submitted the petition (e.g for Texas Service Center It should be TSC for California service center it should be CSC)

  11. hi Psoft

since 19 April you have no response from consulate? no interview date?

it looks that they will take one year in counsulate for processing

Well my case completed on 13th of June 2006, When should i expect, interview date, and meanwhile how should i prepare?

    Fooki

Islamabad embassy is very busy due to all Internet marriages & as per Shon some sort of amendment in immigration laws that is the core reason they are very slow in scheduling an interview. It seems to me I have been waiting from centuries. By the way what is your priority date? Right now ISL issuing October, Novembers interview dates.
