  1. LOL. I am not mad its just that a lot of people have been updating their timelines before them and some people just dont get it. It really plays with others mind who are waiting patiently for their NOA2. This process is really taking its toll. Need to get it over with already.

Its been 41 days now for me and luck FEB filers started getting their NOA2 around this time frame. I know its a little to early but I hope we start seeing some movement soon for March.

  2. I wouldn't change my wife's name because it would only create more hassle of keeping up with proof, paperwork, etc. Just leave the name as it is now. If you really want to change it (though I dont know why an Indian has to do that) you can do it once she's here.

By the way, I thought in India, wife keeps her family name and doesn't have to change it into her husband's name. Is changing name a farely new thing nowadays?

No in indian culture wife takes on husbands family name. Not sure if everyone does it or not but that's been the culture for ages.

  3. I think that you may want to wait until she is in the US. I would be a little concerned that the name change will cause issues until she is in the US.

I am wondering if you can help me on this issue. I submitted my I-130 with all the supporting document required and some. I also changed my name to my husband's family name in February, 2010. WOW, what obstacles that I am facing!

Fist, the IRS has my tax return pending for over 8 weeks because of my name change even though I filed after the SS administration updated name change prior to me filing my taxes. I never received anything in writing from the IRS. I checked online. I requested a referral, but who knows how long that will take? I am early in the process, but I worry that I may not get my 2009 transcripts, because of this issue, when I need it for my affidavit of support. Not sure what to do.

Secondly, I received my NOA1 yesterday and they have my last name with my maiden name hyphenated and married name. On the I-130, I put my family name, but I included, in parenthesis, my married name. Should I have that corrected? All my ID's including SS card, driver's license, and passport only has my married name, not maiden name. If I request that to be corrected I know we are looking at an additional 30 day delay on top of the normal processing time. Should I let it go and let USCIS request a RFE if they deem it as an issue or not?

My husband wants me to fix it, but he is not familiar with how fast things can go wrong. I am not sure either.

I am not sure what to do. I guess you will have to sort it out with the IRS as soon as possible. From what I can tell, IRS shouldn't have any issue with the change in name if you have the proper application filled out and submitted. You should call them and try to see if you can setup an appointment with them or resend the application for the name change.

Sorry I cant' help with this.

  4. My husband doesn't want to get the stuff until he knows it is needed. Super helpful :P. I am piecing together things for the I-864 and Have the majority of it filled out as well as the DS-230. I copied the e-mail version of the DS3230 or whatever it is and will send it to my husband for him to e-mail in. I also have things semi put together for the interview. Hopefully we will make it that far. Good job JohnDoe12 for having things ready ahead of time. I take it your certificates don't expire for a while.

I dont have the police certificate but birth and marriage certificates dont have an expiration date. So i am good with them. Police certificate is from what i know not needed for me until the interview. But if it is, i will have my wife get it once i get the NOA2.

Do you get to see your wife before your interview? Will she be attending with you?

I am the USC. So i might be planning a trip once I get NOA2. Also planning on going back end of the year to bring her back with me if everything goes as planned. :)

  5. wow you are pretty fast.

My NOA 1 date is 25th march 10.Still waiting for NOA2. But i havent got anything ready yet

whole of i864 package is still to be done by my husband. We have no idea how it is to be done and what things are required. My father in law is going to be my co sponser but we are still waiting for the NOA2. Hoping to get it soon though

You should start getting things ready as March Filers will be getting their NOA2 most probably starting end of the Month. If you follow the following steps, you should have all the necessary items ready:

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

LingChe has the best shortcut that you can prepare for ahead of time. If you want to try to get out of NVC stage within a month (or less), its better to have all the documents ready. Good luck.

  6. Hello everyone.

I am trying to figure out what I should have my wife do regarding her passport. Currently she has her maiden name on her passport and all the documents that we have submitted are with her maiden name. Should I have her change the name on her passport while she is overseas? Or should i let it be for now and once she comes to US change it here.

I prefer not to change anything until she comes to US but i would like to know if there are any consequences of doing this.

    Please help.

  7. I have sent all the forms (DS3032 and DS230) to my wife who is going to be sending that over to me next week. have my I864 ready to go. Ordered my transcript already, have the birth certificates ready, marriage certificate ready.

Just need to get the employee verification letter and i think i am ready to go.

But i have a while to go before i get my NOA2. I guess its better to be ready than to run around at the last minute.

  8. The e-mail that I received last night from CSC didn't tell me if they were going to send me a corrected NOA1 so I sent them another e-mail and they basically shot me back an e-mail telling me that i need to follow the regular rules first of how to get information. Ooops!

looks like u pissed somebody off. What are the regular rules anyway.
