I agree with DAVE&ROZA, according to your timeline you arrived in March, so you should have plenty of time to wait for your marriage certificate to arrive then take it and your Passport to get your social security card in your married name, thats what we did, or if you are in a rush you can get it now, in your maiden name and change it when your marriage certificate arrives.

We went thru a similar situation last year with the Manila embassy, they cant tell you how long it will take, they wont give any details either, they kept the passport which is a good sign, name checks or missing documents on there part is possible, you just have to hang in there and wait, good luck.
-
We filed Dec. 1 and we are still waiting too, we also are under initial review, I read here to expect to wait at least 6 months, Its hard to wait but not much we can do, good luck guys.

unless you have met in person between late november 2009 and late november 2011, which is when your timeline says you filed, there is no eveidence to collect, sorry but there is no way around that, if you have met maybe airlines have something you can use, or bank statements of purchases he made while there...

I was wondering how long you normally have to wait for the approval of your AOS. We sent ours in on December 1 2011 and atill have not heard anything except that is was transferred on December 21 to CSC. Its been 4 months and I was wondering if we should call to inquire about that status.
we are in the same boat as you, i made a similar post today, i joined in on the thread mentioned to see whats happening with others, good luck to you.

we filed Dec. 1 for AOS we did not file for EAD or AP, we got our NOA'S, we got the biometrics done on scheduled date, and we got the notice that our case was transfered, all in the month of December, but we have heard nothing since then, 3 months of silence since December, any suggestions or comments???

we were told you cant change your middle name in america due to other countries traditions, you have to do a legal name change later, they want to go by what your LEGAL documents say your middle name is, here they only allow you to change your last name if you like when you marry, again this is what we were told, i dont have anything on paper proving it, i hope this helps.
-
we were told at our local Social Security office that you cant change your middle name, They will put your legal name on your card, for instance, your passport will have a middle name, your birth certificate will have a middle name, and your green card will have a middle name, they are not aware of the Filipino tradition of swapping out your middle name when you marry. This is how they explained it to us when my wife got her SS card. They also said you must do a legal name change to change your middle name.
-
the way it was explained to us was you cant change your middle name here in America without goinng and having a legal name change through the court system. They said the legal name is what is on the birth certificate. The changing the middle name is a Filipino thing not recognized by American rules.

A couple we know here in DFW tried to do a walk in there 5 days before the scheduled date and they were told they dont allow walk ins.
-
She can get her name changed on her passport, try the Colombian Embassy website, there should be a few here in America, good luck.

You could use DHL or a similar courier, they hand deliver the package, it never leaves them and they are pretty reliable. They do request you have certain original documents but the odds of them actually asking for them is a gamble you will make if you dont send them, good luck.

Hello VJer's!
My husband and I are so excited! We finally mailed our AOS package yesterday via USPSto the Chicago Lockbox. When we checked the delivery status of the package the tracker shows the following:
Your Item's Status
We attempted to deliver your item at 10:35 am on January 24, 2012 in CHICAGO, IL 60680 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available.
You may arrange redelivery by visiting <ahref="https://www.usps.com/redelivery/welcome.htm">www.usps.com/redelivery</a> or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.
Will USCIS check and call USPS for the package or do we need to call USPS?
Thank you,
Gilbert & Pinch
It happened to us too, they picked it up a few hours later...

The visa is placed inside the passport, and bring the envelope with you to the class.Dont open the envelope! Better worded is the visa is already in the passport and bring the sealed envelope to the class.
-
Its the I-797 and it should say, the above petition has been approved, etc.
-
The photos are good but i would for sure add some phone bills and hand written letters with postmarked envelopes if you have them, good luck on your journey!

Congratulations!

If the first wife would have been an American woman would it seem bad to ever marry another American?
-
I agree, it should be the last name of the father listed on her birth certificate.
-
1) Use the guides at the top of the page here, the AOS guide, you need the marriage certificate, the license is permission to marry only.
2) Take the certificate and passport to get the SSN in her married name when you get it.
3) The start of the name change can start with the SSN, once you get the SSN you should be able to get a state ID in married name.
4)You will need permission to leave, AP, advance parole. T am not aware of any other way.
5) you need to do a change of address, the guides will show you how, I personally would move before i start the AOS, not in the middle of it.
I am sure others will give more detailed info, We are in Texas also so I know 1, 2, and 3 are easilly done, good luck.

The NOA-2 is a Notice of Action telling you your petition is approved, its just a a single page similar to the NOA-1. Next step is getting ready for your interview and medical exam. You need certain documents for everything you will do from now on. Its best to read the K-1 guide, its better than letting someone tell you, they might forget something. Congratulations and good luck.

We had our biometrics appointment last week and several children were there.
-
I read past posts that say they will stamp your passport if you are approved and that will allow you to work.

Like bigdog said, use new paystubs, send a copy of as many as you have, a letter from new employer, and use new job paystubs to figure your new salary on the I-134.
