  1. I agree with DAVE&ROZA, according to your timeline you arrived in March, so you should have plenty of time to wait for your marriage certificate to arrive then take it and your Passport to get your social security card in your married name, thats what we did, or if you are in a rush you can get it now, in your maiden name and change it when your marriage certificate arrives.

  2. unless you have met in person between late november 2009 and late november 2011, which is when your timeline says you filed, there is no eveidence to collect, sorry but there is no way around that, if you have met maybe airlines have something you can use, or bank statements of purchases he made while there...

  3. I was wondering how long you normally have to wait for the approval of your AOS. We sent ours in on December 1 2011 and atill have not heard anything except that is was transferred on December 21 to CSC. Its been 4 months and I was wondering if we should call to inquire about that status.

we are in the same boat as you, i made a similar post today, i joined in on the thread mentioned to see whats happening with others, good luck to you.

  4. we were told at our local Social Security office that you cant change your middle name, They will put your legal name on your card, for instance, your passport will have a middle name, your birth certificate will have a middle name, and your green card will have a middle name, they are not aware of the Filipino tradition of swapping out your middle name when you marry. This is how they explained it to us when my wife got her SS card. They also said you must do a legal name change to change your middle name.

  5. You could use DHL or a similar courier, they hand deliver the package, it never leaves them and they are pretty reliable. They do request you have certain original documents but the odds of them actually asking for them is a gamble you will make if you dont send them, good luck.

  6. Hello VJer's!

My husband and I are so excited! We finally mailed our AOS package yesterday via USPSto the Chicago Lockbox. When we checked the delivery status of the package the tracker shows the following:

    Your Item's Status

We attempted to deliver your item at 10:35 am on January 24, 2012 in CHICAGO, IL 60680 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available.

You may arrange redelivery by visiting <ahref="https://www.usps.com/redelivery/welcome.htm">www.usps.com/redelivery</a> or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after five days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Will USCIS check and call USPS for the package or do we need to call USPS?

    Thank you,

    Gilbert & Pinch

It happened to us too, they picked it up a few hours later...

  7. 1) Use the guides at the top of the page here, the AOS guide, you need the marriage certificate, the license is permission to marry only.

    2) Take the certificate and passport to get the SSN in her married name when you get it.

    3) The start of the name change can start with the SSN, once you get the SSN you should be able to get a state ID in married name.

4)You will need permission to leave, AP, advance parole. T am not aware of any other way.

    5) you need to do a change of address, the guides will show you how, I personally would move before i start the AOS, not in the middle of it.

I am sure others will give more detailed info, We are in Texas also so I know 1, 2, and 3 are easilly done, good luck.

  8. The NOA-2 is a Notice of Action telling you your petition is approved, its just a a single page similar to the NOA-1. Next step is getting ready for your interview and medical exam. You need certain documents for everything you will do from now on. Its best to read the K-1 guide, its better than letting someone tell you, they might forget something. Congratulations and good luck.
