  1. Ya - lilib participated in NVC Electronic Processing with a Guangzhou-bound casefile.

One of the benefits (for Guangzhou casefiles) is that appointment is set between 1 to 5 days of 'case complete' at NVC. I know, is grand exception, but - when done this way - is never that 'wait for 2nd week of the month to set the interview'.

I know, I know - it's a big deal, really !!! If a Guangzhou casefile 'stayed paper', it adds 2 to 5 months of wait time, before even 'Casefile Opened' timetick - and then still the IV Unit at Guangzhou sets the appointment for 3 to 11 weeks in the future.

    YAY !!! GoGoGadget NVCElectronicProcessingGuangzhou !!!

I like that one! gogogaget hehehe

  2. July will actually work better for us, too (I think). I know it will be better financially with airfare so high! If you come up with a good place to buy, let me know. When I have used random dates for July, The average for me is $1800 with taxes and fees!

Ok finally found it. I hope this helps. But I will still keep you posted when I find the cheapest site also. :D

Spotlight Article: The Best Time to Get a Deal on Plane Tickets

You might think plane tickets from one destination to another are generally the same price. Surprisingly, they are not. The variation can be as much as forty percent based things such as the airline, the dates you fly, the hours you fly and where you sit. Given this huge variation, the frugal traveler should smell a potential deal. In this article, we talk about how to get it.

    1. The first issue to consider is the season. If you are hoping to fly from New York to Paris in June, you are going to pay and pay big. Why? This is the high tourist season. You couldn’t fly at a worse possible time. There is so much demand that the airlines are going to keep prices high without exception. The lesson – don’t fly during high season.

    2. When you commit to the trip, start looking for tickets immediately. The farther out you are from your departure date, the better the chance you’ll have of getting a good deal. Why? Well, the airlines are more interested in filling seats at this point than working you over for every dollar you have. As the departure date approaches, a flight with few remaining seats available will be able to charge a premium for them.

    3. When is the cheapest hour to fly? The red-eye flights my friend. You will always save money on these.

    4. What are the best days to fly? The answer is three fold – Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Of these three, Wednesday is the absolute cheapest day.

    5. What about holidays? Try to fly early and late. Try the previous weekend for the trip to your destination and a few days after the crowd has flown home to come back. These days are devoid of travelers and seats are usually very cheap.

    6. If you really want to score a deal, stay up late on Tuesday night. When the clock ticks over into Wednesday morning, start shopping for deals. The airline reservation programs release new seats after midnight, so you can get killer deals. That being said, the seats don’t last for long and will be gone by the time people wake up on Wednesday morning.

The biggest expense of most trips is the flight. Take the time and effort to work the system and you can cut this expense down to the nub and save a bundle of money on your trip. Enjoy

  3. Ive been told to stay clear of cheapoair.com something about they really like to charge you more than they quoted you besides the normal taxes and fees. I did get an email from spotlight article: the best time to get a deal on plane tickets. I will copy and past it ad soon as i can find it. It gives tips on cheaper tickets

I did go to http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/searchResult1.aspx#WithStops That's where I found the cheapest so far around 1500.00

  4. Thanks for your reply, I will send 2, now should I put them on an envelope, or in a small plastic bag?

A ziploc bag is the best. When I sent my things to USCIS I sent our pics in an envelope until I read to put them in a ziploc. Maybe that's what took USCIS so long

  5. Thanks! I look at all those sites that are supposed to be cheaper, but then when I look at the airline sites, there is really no difference. My past trips, I have booked direct with the airline because I thought it was safer.

  6. Hi people, I have a question for you, on the DS-230 how many passport size pics I need to enclose, should I send 4, please let me know. Thanks and God bless :D

It says send two but.....I put two each in two different bags and attached them to the front of the ds-230 because... I read a story about how someone got an rfe because nvc actually lost their photos. So, I sent the extra two for just in case :)

I'm still searching for flights. For me I found if I book this month at least a month in advance its a few hundred cheaper. If I find a good site I will let you know.

  8. After reading several posts that some embassies schedule interviews the 4th week of the month, I was curious so I asked one day when I called an operator.

She told me they DO schedule the 4th week (which is next week) IF there are any more openings. I am not sure if that means openings for June or July.

July dates next week? I don't know. But I am praying to hear something, too!

Well that is good to know! Thanks for this post! It will make it a bit easier to book my flight :D if its for July that would be awesome!

  9. Thank you for your input! That's what I did :). Made sure not to leave anything blank and put either None or N/A as appropriate.

I'm not freaking out yet because we have 10 more days until the end of the month. If they take care of this until then, I'm happy!

Your Welcome! good deal! I will sure be rooting for ya and keeping my fingers crossed for nvc to get ya in and out of there quickly! I wish for you a July interview too! :D

  10. So, anyway I have news. This morning the husband rings me at some ungodly hour and tells me to get online. So, as a good wife does ... I do (looking sensational with bed hair and sleep in my eyes).

He tells me he has the recruiting job he wanted with the military and because they are sending him to school in June ... he has a 10 day window that he can visit me. Yayaya!!!! I'm booking his flights now and he will be here in 13 days. Pity he flies in the day AFTER my interview but I don't care. And it's only for 7 days but we'll take whatever we can get because it's been 5 months now and I'm gonna get me some ...:dance:

Hehehe congrats to you too!!! :D

  11. Guys,

for the education question on Ds-230: do we need to make sure we don't leave any time unaccounted for? for my mom, I wrote about her grammar school and high school, but I only posted the dates for the academic year. i know that for the residence and employment questions, we were not supposed to leave out any period of time. i made sure to do this for residence and employment, but i did not think that this concept also applied to the education question

i am getting an RFE for this! the RFE also states that i did not fill out the question about my mom's military history. i did! she has never been in the military. and i made sure to put N/A where appropriate.

I don't know about the education part exactly we only put his college name and everything that goes with it. Were there any blanks in the same lines as the school information? if so that's where you add None or N/A , and on the military question you have to put none or n/a on each of the 4 blanks. I hope this helps!

  12. I just wanted to share something with you all. I'm not sure if I should post this here or in another area. I'm still trying to learn VJ So, I apologize in advance!

I just want to congratulate and thank everyone that posted or even answered questions even if you didn't but you have your time line visible :D it really helps! When I got stuck on something I read about another persons story or opinion or even a small mistake and I learned real quick what NVC likes and don't like. We have learned they can be picky at times about the smallest things. I am so glad I ran across VJ and I am very thankful for you all and sister aishahossam she spent many nights up all night with me. Her drinking Tea and I hit the hard stuff Red Bull and sometimes Coffee hehehe  going over everything with a fine tooth comb re-writing letters and cover sheets over and over I'm not kidding I put my little 3 in 1 into shock in two weeks I went through 5 color and 11 black ink cartridges because I was trying to do it right the first time the poor thing started squealing  I just wanted to share my words with you! I pray for all of you that the rest of your journeys go smoothly and you get to be with your loved ones soon!!! Good Luck to you all!!! *****S*D*****

  13. Finally Thanks to Allah. Sign in failed. on 05-19-2010.

But no interview date assigned . I talked to operator and she said unfortunately they have done assigning interview dates for the month of june so I will have to wait for July dates. Question is how soon I can hear from them about the interview date? Is it June 7, that they will start to assign dates for July?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Your Welcome Mir&Naaz! :D And Congrats to you RabRiz!
