  1. April 28 they signed for it, May 3 the system said they received it, and on May 10 my Case Was completed. Now I hope to recieve my wife's Interview letter soon... It is killing me :P .

I must thank the VJWiki and boards for helping me be damn efficient in my submissions :)

I just received her Interview date via email!

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in WARSAW on June 29, 2010 at 08:45 am.

I wonder if they will still send a paper copy. She might need an original document to get a Visa to Poland.

  2. Bleauwolf,

Thanks for your time. I didn't say much cause I dont know much. I am waiting for her to respond as to why she is resisting. I am clueless.

Thanks You have explained it just as I understand it. I think she is under faults impressions of giving up power or something to that effect. She also fails to understand that the billing would go to the Agent of choice as well.

Oh well another one of life's little mysteries.

    Thanks again

I think she is misinterpreting it as power of attorney or something. All the "Agent" designation does is directs where mail goes. It would be faster to us a US address but it is her choice.

  3. Congratulations!! That was pretty fast!

How long did it take them to receive it (from their mailing room)?

  4. It's been 2 weeks since i sent DS230 form to NVC. All the documents are original and if they lost some of the documents can take a good month to replace. they have not recorded the Documents as received. Has anyone had a similar experience with NVC? I am very worried....

Did you use delivery confirmation or signature confirmation? It took them a week from when they signed until the NVC said they received mine, then another week for them to review my documents.

  5. You can definitely call the POE and see how far behind they are to turning the paperwork in to the USCIS. I didn't realize that JFK was so backlogged sending the paperwork in until I read it somewhere here on VJ.

That has to be so frustrating!!!!mad.gif

Seriously, How hard is it to send a massive mail out once a week to the USCIS. My wife will either fly into Atlanta or New York (from Moscow using Delta). I was hoping to meet her in New York, but at the same time I don't think I want her stuff getting delayed at the POE.

  6. Congratulations on your case being completed.

I called NVC on Tuesday, May 11th and they said they are scheduling interviews this week for June 2010 (if the embassy is not very busy).

I asked what if the embassy is busy....they said then interview will be in July.

All you can do now is wait.

I am hoping my wife gets June. Poland should not be that busy  .

How long does it usually take between "Case Complete" to receiving interview date? I do not buy into their 8 week stuff.

  7. I have both AOS and DS230 ready to mail, My question. do I have to mail them in 2 separate envelopes as 2 seperate packages, or can I mail them as 2 packages in one evelope? If so where the addresses are same except for the attention AOS. Thanks

Separate. Also make sure to use the address's on the coversheet. They are slightly different.

  8. So according to the AVR the NCV received my DS-230 (and other documents) on May 3, 2010. They say it takes 6-8 weeks to review. Since the VJ timeliness don't really take into account the changes in the AVR, I was wondering how long it actually takes (well on average at least). I am a US citizen and it is for my wifes CR1. How Long do you think it will actually take? How long did it take for you?

  9. I was in the same line of thinking as you. The NVC needs to make the initial interview appointment, however I have talked with someone here who was able to get an earlier interview date then what NVC scheduled. The key is that you need to wait until the embassy receives your case from NVC before you can do anything. Once they receive it, you can call the embassy and request an earlier interview date if they have one available. This person and his wife both called AND emailed the embassy and very politely asked if there was any way to get the interview date moved up and sure enough they moved it up 3 weeks earlier. Just remember to wait for your case to arrive there before doing anything. Obviously all embassies are different, but there is no harm in trying...

This is interesting. My problem is my wife would need an official letter stating the interview date for a visa to the country her interview is to take place in. Do you think if I tried to call and get it moved up, if that would cause any problems with her getting a polish visa? My fear is she would not be able to prove the new visa date when applying at the Polish consulate in Minsk.

  10. I am in the process of trying to get a couple of documents translated from their original language, in this case Urdu, to english.

Other then the following info on translating documents

    Translation Requirements

All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

    Translation is accurate, and

    Translator is competent to translate.

Is there a special requirement on who can translate them, I mean if I have a relative who is well versed in the local language and english can they translate them?

    Thanks guys

My wife's passport had two biographic pages. The first was in English and the second was in Russian and Belarussian. The only difference between the two was her patronymic/middle name was not included in the English page, but was for the Rusian/Belarussian page. I had my Russian Professor (who has a Phd in Russian Language and Literature) translate the second document with the lines "I __________________ certify that the translation is accurate, and that the translator is competent to translate." Singed_________ (with his credentials)...

I am kind of in the same boat as you. I hope the NVC realizes the only difference was the patronymic/middle name and that they accept his translation.

  11. When we got married, I sent a copy of the old passport with my wife's maiden name to USCIS, then when I sent the DS-230 to the NVC I sent the new copy. My wife applied for a new passport as soon as she could, to reflect her new last name. I had her email me a scan of her passport and I printed it and included it into the DS-230 packet. If I were you, I would see if your spouse can renew their passport with their new name.

Otherwise, it is just a waiting game to see what goes through and what doesn't.

  12. Most campus used port 8080. See if you can change the port address of your dorm router to have an incoming packets route to port 8080 then to your local network to port 80.

I have tried about everything (including tunnling). Nothing works! Well almost nothing... I am able to run VUZE at extremely slow speeds, and when I had WOW, I used Rapidshare to get all the patches. I ended up solving this problem by borrowing my brother's update files before they were deleted. He downloaded them by teathering his mobile phone to the computer and used his data plan to download everything :P .

  13. Thanks for the first hand experience. I also heard from another first hand source that Aeroflot will not let you board the plane without a transit visa and then you have to pay an additional $1,000 to reroute to Vienna or somewhere else. My passport is in the Russian Washington embassy right now. It costs $225 for fees and shipping, not including what my Belarus visa cost. Next time I will avoid flying to Moscow and instead stick to my usual of Warsaw, Frankfurt, Paris, London, etc.

This is unrelated but might be of interest to you:

Currently, U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Belarus are required to register with the local office of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior (formerly OVIR) within three business days of arrival. Starting July 21, 2010, foreigners who are staying in Belarus no more than 5 business days (plus a weekend) are not required to register. The registration fee is currently approximately $6 (the exact amount can be calculated by taking half of one National Minimum Tariff Unit) regardless of the duration of stay. Failure to register can result in fines and difficulties when departing. U.S. citizens staying in hotels are automatically registered at check-in. Registration performed by a hotel is free of charge.

  14. I'm not anti-immigration. I'm anti-ILLEGAL-immigration. BIG difference.

Can't agree with you more! What is sad is most people do not see the difference (my impression at least).

  15. It's very confusing guys.

I called NVC this morning to find out the same thing that whether they need police certificate or not but operator said they don't need the police certificate at all. But their checklist letter mentions police certificate along with other two documents that were missing.

So I am not sure what to do? Should I send the Police certificate or not?

Better be safe than sorry, just send it! :)

  16. I was reading the guide on this page:

    http://www.visajourn...tent/i130guide1

and it says that after the I-130 approval by USCIS, "A few weeks after you have received your last Notice of Action indicating the approval and forwarding of your I-130 application to the NVC, the NVC will send your relative a packet of forms"

The problem that I might have here is that in the country where my wife lives, Saudi Arabia, the mail system dose not work, and it never worked. She cannot receive mail there unless it was sent to a PO box or via UPS, DHL, or FedEx. My question is this:

    a) Will the NVC ask for a her mailing address

    b) or will they just send this packet to the address in the I-130?

    c) or will I get a copy of this packet to forward to her?

You can probably find which forms are in that packet, download them and fill them out without waiting for them in the mail. You can also have the petitioner act as an agent (DS-3032) so that they will receive all the information. Then they can forward it to the beneficiary using UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.

  17. My fiance and I are getting married on May 22nd and will be completing our I-130 soon after this and hopefully sending our pack away as soon as possible. My fiance will be the petitioner, when we complete the I-130 form should she use her current surname or my surname as we will be married? All her documentation, passport etc will still be in her current name.

Leave it to whatever the passport says. When you get married in the US, you will have the opportunity to legally change it.
