Interesting - what was your degree?

I minored in Economics - I don't think any of those professors could be described as "leftist"

Funny, My Econ100 and 101 teachers were both left leaning. They did not push their agenda that much.

I majored in International Business and Management Information Systems.

Most of my undergraduate and "cultural/diversity classes" had the most opinionated instructors. As I moved up, the teachers seemed to lean more right (Business School), but they did not push their agenda too much.

My furthest Right Class was Chemistry 100, teacher loved to preach politics in class.

My furthest Left Class was a Human Resources Management - International Management class. To make it worse, if you were a white male in that class, you were screwed, because we were the oppressors of society...

I do not know if Zimmerman was in the right... but I do not think Martin was innocent either (I do not see him as the victim the media is playing him to be).

I graduated California State University - Long Beach in 2010.

I must say out of every ten teachers I had... one was right winged, six were left, and three would not promote their "agenda".

I don't have my wife on Credit Card accounts. As an immigrant, she would not qualify for my high credit since she has none.

We do share bank accounts though.

I think people have said only the Receipt Number for biometrics does anything.

What luck, check cashed and NOA1 received on the same day (Friday the 13th)!

There was some bad luck, it was rainy so my outside mailbox got the letter wet! Luckily it dried okay.

I am a 21 year old female from St. Petersburg, Russia.I went to the embassy and the man seemed so nice, but then I was denied for having a lack of ties to my country. However, I don't understand what else I may have! I was going for 2 months to visit a friend whom had traveled to my country a couple years earlier. I own half of an apartment, have had my job for 8 months, have 125,000 rubles in my bank account, plan on continuing education in the fall (I have 2 more years of school), and am engaged. To top it off is my parents are old and I am the only child to take care of them. Here are the questions they asked me and my answers:

What is the purpose of visit? Visiting a friend

How long have you known her and did you meet here? I have known her for almost three years and we met here.

He then asked for my traveling passport and when he saw a previous visa to the UK, he inquired about it. I replied "I went to London to stay with my mother's friend. I would like to go to America as well to help with my English."

He asked what my company did, I replied that it was a crewing agency.

He asked how long I worked there, I said I started September first.

I then also mentioned that I am a student, but have taken a gap year. He asked how long I have left and I told hi 2 years and then one for my Magistrate.

Then he asked the name of the school, which I told him.

He then told me to wait, and then left. He returned with a document of refusal for my visa and said "Im sorry, but at the moment we cannot give you a visa." He tried to comfort me by saying that many young girls don't receive visas and that SOME day I may get one. He then said that I couldn't prove my my ties were strong enough and then the interview was over.

Can someone help me out? I don't know what went wrong! I'm hoping to be in the US around the 6th of June.

My Wife wanted to invite her brother this Summer, and they denied him even though he proved he was still in school, had a good paying job, had a letter of invitation, etc.

The funny thing is, they let my wife's mother come last Summer.

Also, once you get rejected, it hurts your future chances of coming. They see it when you re-apply. They noticed he had a prior denied work visa (said he was not qualified enough).

We are going to wait a few years before trying again.

If you have a US friend, and they feel the case is compelling enough, they can always try contacting their congressperson.

I think in the end, they just like playing God.

I thought the lights turning yellow before green was really cool

I second that! I like how their lights work over there. Flashing green to let you know its about to turn yellow. Red and Yellow means it is about to turn green. And timers in the middle letting you know how much of you have left.

I find it interesting the NOA1 date for some people is one day after USCIS receives the packet, I mean that is not even enough time to see if the check went through .

I like how July 2011 did theirs with Green Card Received! I know it is not for a little while before this group has to worry about it, but I think I'll add the formatting now (less later). Also updating a few users.

It would be nice to see the ROC process (I-751) up there.

Just my two cents...

Back again with the VJ family on the ROC journey. We were eligible on 2/5/12 but my wife was away visiting her family in India with our son (born 10/15/12) so are filing now. Look forward to spending the next few months (hopefully not much longer) with you!

Visa Journey Members,

Does any one have experience visiting Canada wile their Removal of Conditions was being processed?

My family is planning an Alaskan cruise for August 2012, and my wife will have:

1) A new passport from her government (no original VISA into USA... its expired anyways)

2) Her Original Green Card (will be expired because of the removal of conditions process)

3) The Notice of Action 1 from USCIS - people say this acts as a letter of extension for the green card while she is issued a new one

Will this be enough for her to enter/exit Canada without problems?

I know the extension letter allows her to visit her home country, but not too sure if Canada accepts it as a valid travel document.

This scenario excludes Canadian Citizens with a US Permanent Residence. Of course you would be allowed to enter your home country. My wife is Belarussian.

Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

This can be done in the US through the Belarusian Embassy in Washington DC. She does not need to travel to Belarus to renew her passport.

I tried convincing her the same. Saves us a few thousand dollars. But I think she is a little homesick and wants to visit friends (+marriage) and family.

Biometrics and the interview can be rescheduled, but it delays the process and when it comes to rescheduling an interview you run the risk that your local office didn't get the memo even if the main office did and then you end up denied. I wouldn't recommend it.

The good news is, most people don't get an interview with ROC. The other good news is, you won't get an interview letter or biometrics letter that says "show up tomorrow" ... you'll get a couple weeks warning.

How long is your wife planning to be gone for? How difficult would it be for her to return during that time period if you did get an interview notice?

She would only be gone for about a month.

I figure if I give strong evidence, the chance of an interview lessens.

On a side note, how often do people's finger prints change? She had to give them to get her CR1, now she has to give them again? Weird stuff.

About 1 week to 10 days after you guys have mailed in the I-751 package, the NOA1 which extends the validity of your wife's Green Card will arrive in the mail.

She still will have to wait for the NOA2, which is the biometrics appointment letter, before leaving the U.S., assuming that she'll be able to do a walk-in, as many VJ members have done it. Then the only hypothetical obstacle would be that USCIS calls you in for an interview. Although unlikely, you may be randomly picked to satisfy the quota needed.

Hmm.... I wonder if the biometrics appointment is reschedulable same with USCIS interview.

So If I understand correctly, NOA1 allows you to travel, but you are required to be present for NOA2 and interview. Technically the interview can be requested at any time of the process (so she is not safe to leave until conditions are removed).

You should file to remove conditions 90 days before the expiration of her green card. She should get a document extending her residency status which indicates that it is good for work and travle. THIS is what she'll use, along with her expired green card and passport, to travel. NOT the I131

I have heard it may take 90 days or more to receive this document. What was your experience?

My problem is, I do not want to buy plane tickets and she does not receive the extension letter/document in time.

Dear Visa Journey Members:

My wife needs to travel in July 2012.

She would like to visit her home country to:

1) Go to a friends marriage

2) Renew her passport (expires in 2013)

3) Visit family

The problem is she arrived in the US July 2010. This means during the time of her travel, her Form I-751,Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence will most likely be pending.

I wonder if it is possible. The only thing I found that might help is I-131, Application for Travel Document.

Does anyone have experience?

I'm not sure about the hardcopy interview invitation. I would think they would send it, but I am not completely sure...

I called them to ask, they said since it my email was registered this will be the only notice I receive. When I asked if it was possible to receive a paper copy, they said they would have to remove my email and it could take up to four more weeks. So I told them to leave it and my wife will try to get her Polish Visa with a email.
