  1. Congratulations to all with Interview Dates last week!

On I side note, my wife's still freaking out about the whole interview and proof of on-going relationship evidence. Even though she has printed out tons of emails, chat logs, screen shots of our yahoo video chats,123greetings,receipts of me sending her flowers and cake and some other irrelevant stuff.

I dont know if this will help someone, but my cousin went through the process last week at the Chennai consulate and said he was scrutinized by a very mean older white lady and that she asked for and went through all the evidence. Apparently he handed her an envelope with about 900 pages of emails and chats(!).

But he was sent back and asked to hand over additional stuff to the VFS. She asked him to send them a photocopy of the USC's passport that was notarized in the USA. Also proof of address the same way. I would never have thought they would ask something like this! But I'm glad I talked to him. I'm gonna mail those over tomorrow and hopefully they'll be there in time for the interview.

Just trying to cover all bases as quickly as I can. ;)

  2. Grats to all with interview dates!!

    I have a stupid question...

My wife's interview email lists here name as FNU, FirstName LastName. I had noticed it in previous correspondance with the NVC but thought it was only an internal NVC code of some sort. But I thought I call them up and ask them about it and I did yesterday. They said the FNU stands for "First Name Unknown" and that they had put both first name and last name as last name. I asked her if this was gonna be an issue and she said it can be clarified at the interview and they will correct it there. Anyone else see this happen? Although I'm not too worried about it, just thought I share this with you.

  3. congrats!!!

    now we wait!

SJ!!!! OMG!!!! Hoorayyyyy! I'm so happy for you!!

Congrats SJ.......... Glad that this is over for you........Interview in no time. Good luck.

Thank you,Thank you and Thank you!!

Vivek, Your wife interviewed at Chennai, right?

What did u have to hand over at VFS and did she pay the fee in cash or did they ask her to bring a DD? My wife's freaking out already and she's having me research everything right this moment. Also, about the medical report, did your wife give it to VFS, or is that a bring-it-to-the-consulate thing?

    Thanks!

  4. Congratulations! Looks like you have your case closed before me. So I'm not complaining. Happy for you!!

Putting the list up getting ready for the flood of interviews ... :star:

  6. Hi guys, we have a question on the DS-3032, we just received the case number this morning, I am planning to send it today, but we are missing the e-mail address for the NVC, also, should I wait a little more, or can I send it now. Thanks so much!!

Here is an extract from Sachinsky's post outlining the steps:

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

    Suggestions:

    1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

    2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

    3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

    4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum before sending in your packages.

    5) Mail your DS230 package to your USC spouse as soon as you get your NOA2. That way he/she can overnight it to NVC as soon as the IV bill clears.

    6) Get your taxes, employment letter, paystubs, PCCs, civil documents etc. while you wait for the NOA2.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Folks--please make sure your official VJ timelines are up to date. Remember this is our only source of predictions. Thankyou!

  7. hello everyone  our case completed may 7th alhamdillah! and im curious to when i should be getting an email from them with out interview date? does it take days or weeks or what,,, please let me know thanks!

    Congratulations on your case complete!

If you are lucky, you may have gotten a case complete in time for a June interview, in which case you can expect an email from NVC anytime this week, considering Egypt isnt backed up. Otherwise, you will have to wait till the second week of June for a July interview since that is when they ususally assign interiew dates.

Maybe you can call NVC and speak with an operator and find out if you will make it to June interviews, sometimes they will know how backed up an embassy/consulate is.

    Hope this helps.

  8.

    I can't believe it!! I just can't believe it!!

One hour ago, I am still so depressed because I can still see the "Receipt Page" on NVC login. And now, I got the Sign In Fail!!!!

I just called the NVC and the operator confirmed that the case is just completed this morning. What an amazing Anniversary Gift. All we are waiting for now is the interview date.

Keep trying and keep hoping, everyone!! It has been a very long journey for us and full of challenges and difficulties--with his laid off from work, my health issues, and so on. But, I am literally in tears when I see that red "sign in fail" page, and again when the operator confirmed the case is just completed this morning.

Thank you for all the support on VJ!

Best wishes to every one's journey!

    HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FAILURE!!

Wait, is that an oxymoron?

    Who gives a darn?!

    Enjoy!!

  9. Hobo--You're overthinking it. Just explain what you did and why and you should be set.

We had a civil ceremony as we got married under The Special Marriage Act, 1954--signing the marriage certificate in front of the marriage registrar and about 30 witnesses. Then we exchanged flower garlands and gold wedding bands. My father did the blessings. All this took place at our home. Then we had a dinner reception for about 150 people at the wedding venue. Neither me nor my husband are big fans of rituals or traditions and frankly, I couldn't be bothered to deal with a full-blown, eight hour Bengali wedding hoopla in the blistering August heat. I have pictures, video, affidavits, receipts, wedding invitation, congratulations cards etc. for proof of bonafide marriage.

When I return to the States we plan to have another similar ceremony for my husband's family and our college friends who couldn't be here for our wedding. This excites me because I've always wanted to wear a white dress.

Dont you leave me out of that invite list..

  10. Thankyou all so much for all the well wishes. I still havn't been able to get a full picture of the interview yet. Wife has been busy going to VFS, hotel check outs, train ride back home etc. Plus her cell phone signal is not that great on the train so the call kept dropping off. So will try to put together a brief review based on the bits and pieces that I picked up.

She reached the cosulate around 7.50AM for her 8AM interview. She was called to the first interview window around 9.30AM. She said the Indian lady at her window was really sweet. There was another man at a different window who appeared to be rude and the whole time she was waiting, she was praying not to get him for the prescreen. The lady asked for our interview letter, passport, wedding photos and wedding invitation cards. There were some basic queestions like how did we meet, when did we get married etc.

She was not called in for the interview untill around 11.30 so it was kind of a long wait. She was interviewed by a woman of East Asian decent. She was very polite and friendly. The whole interview lasted 10-15 minutes. Again it was all basic questions like. When did we meet, who made the first contact, How often does your husband visit, have we travelled together. What she plans to do once in US. I will post the exact questions later. They did not ask for any additional proof of relationship or a single document that we carried. The consular never asked about the 2009 tax returns. Wife was out of the cosulate by around 12PM.

Wife was not able to pick up the passport from VFS the same day so it will be mailed to her. All in all I think except for the long wait time it was pretty straightforward and an easy interview.

Thank you again all............. Let the good news keep rolling.

    Congratulations Vivek!!

Sounds like everything went smoothly, good for her/you!

    Exciting stuff!

I think I had too much coffee...

  11. Yeah i feel the same way - hey when you took your mind off things and stopped thinking about it, you got the SIF - this WILL also happen the same way. i dont think anyone here, esp. myself and my wife, expected that they would assign interviews at all this week and it happened. so dont worry about it - you WILL get it; if not today, then next week. remember think positive and you will get it!

You are right. I need something to do or this weekend will be a big dud for me thinking about this interview thing. I was about to buy a new phone, maybe I'll do just that and start playing with it and customizing it. Anyone here play with the HTC HD2?
