  1. as the previous poster said it depends on where the USC lives but an average would be 6-9 months if all runs smooth.....

It is best NOT to book any flights or make plans on a date of marriage as it is hard and costly if things go wrong or you come across a problem and you get held up......

All the best and welcome to VJ

  2. OK I am hoping to have my green card in my hands in the next few days so that I can go see my dad before he passes..... I understand that when I book my flight tickets I do it in the name that is on my passport and to take my marriage license with me and the green card.... Is there anything elese i need to take :help:

Also when I coming back into USA which line do I get into ???

  3. You should contact the office where your interview is scheduled for and ask them ...... please do not wait .....

I waited then i got a denial letter and the letter said that we had to leave the country because we didnt go to the interview......

I went to the local office when i got the denial and took all the proof that we had saying that it had been canceled.....the main office had cenceled but NOT the local that was doing the interview.....

they did give us another interview date as it was their fault and all is done now we have been approved

  4. I know I am thinking way ahead of time but I just had a letter from the lady who gave us our interview and it says on letter that we have to apply for conditions to be removed in Aug/Nov 2008 , 2 yrs from our AOS interview...... :help:

I thought it was that you got them removed 2 years from your wedding date , that would be in OCT 2007.....

Reason why I am asking is I dont want to go past the date ( if it is from our wedding ) and get a letter saying we are to leave the country :(

    Any ideas

  5. Boaz the office at Greer is small and all the staff are very friendly..... the lady who gave us our interview was called MS Starks and she was cool. I had forgotten 1 lil bit that she neede and she told us with us being so close to the office and my son turning 14 on Tues that we could go home get it and bring it back so she could approve us that day .If we had mailed it in and it arrived after Tues we would be have to take my son for fingerprints then wait on FBI name check (up to a year) .WE went home got the paperwork , took it back , she came out to us , copied it and told me that our green card wuld be with us in 2-3 weeks ......

    you will be ok there

    all the best

    Ange , Rog n Dan

  10. Well listen to this :-

There really are some nice people in the immigration service

Got to Greer for the infopass appointment at 8.30 am and waited in car till 8.45 as they will not let you in till 15 mins before the interview.

Handed in eticket for appointment and had bag searched

A lovely lady called my name and we went up to her. She smiled and asked how could she help. I explained to her about the email that we had received informing us that the interview had been canceled and also showed her a print out of what our portfolio still shows on the USCIS website that it had been cancelled. So I asked how could we go the interview when they had canceled it.Also said that I had called the info line and they told me that we had to wait 30 days from the date we received the cancelation email which would have been Sept 30th, the day we got the DENIAL letter

She said that on her PC we were still scheduled for the appointment and the main USCIS had not informed them that it had been canceled. She went to see if our files were still there and luckily they are

I had to write a short letter eaplaing to them what had happened and asking them to re-open the case. She put that letter with all the copies of the emails, and print outs of the USCIS portfolio web page and took them to her supervisor and he said YES they will re-open our case

She appologised for the mistake and said we would get another date soon. I asked her if she had any idea when and she said it should be NOV.....I also asked if I was ok to return to work now and she said yes......

MY word of advise to anybody who gets an EMAIL stating that their interview is cancelled is to write a letter to the district office that the interview is going to be held at, you cannot phone but they will reply to a letter.

I hope this will save many others going through the frustration and worry that we did.
