I worked for a company that wrote transaction software for the US Credit and Debit systems, unless its changed, at the time, all Debit cards were a dual use Credit/Debit card. You could only tie one account to your debit card, not all the accounts you like, and it was a special Debit account, higher fees, zero interest. Also the ubiquity of the debit system down there cant even touch the penetration of interac. Its similar yes, but nowhere near the same

I took advantage of my day in Montreal when I went for my interview, to hunt down a good poutine I grabbed lunch at a place like 2 blocks from the embassy called Brisket Montreal, they had like 20 diffrent poutines on the menu, I wish I was there longer, I would have went back for the montreal smoked meat sandwiches, it smelled so good.

At risk of putting everyone to sleep, WEP is more or less the first generation of wireless encryption standard, still very widely used, and at this time, fairly vulnerable, with the right tools, I can break through it in about 30-40 seconds. WPA is more secure, and WPA2 is the most secure standard currently commercially available, its just not supported by most wireless devices...yet.

Id have to go dig up my DS, but I bet your wifi security is a protocol not supported by it.

I THINK it only supports WEP encryption, likely you are (and should) be using WPA or WPA2

I think I remember someone saying that back in Oct. 2009/ Nov. 2009 some people got as little as 2 weeks notice for their interview, so do not despair. It is only June 2. I have a feeling that the magic "June 4 fee increase" might have more to do with the lack of interview dates than anything else.

Ive heard of many instances where the person was told, if they cross, for whatever reason, they MUST activate the K-1

I was actually told the same by my interviewing officer "If you cross the border you will need to activate it, and there will be no back and forth"

I booked a flight right into Toronto for my Fiancee, I normally use Buffalo, but I simply dont want to risk being denied when I need to cross to pick her up

Well, I found out that FOR SURE my EAD card was not produced.

They said I should get my green card by the 12th though. (Yeah we'll see about that.)

Came home to another email saying they're sending another welcome letter.

And LA is hell for infopasses. We got there at 10:45am for my 11am appointment and didn't get called to a window till like... 1pm.

They should reimburse you the money for the EAD IMO

Unfortunately no they were not open. I was in Montreal yesterday went to the consulate and they had a sign inside the door that said: "Closed for American and Canadian Holidays"... they had May 24th and May 31st listed in the sign, so they were definately not open.

Having BOTH holidays certainly slows down them sending my K1, its disappointing
