You know, I was wondering, do people get mad when you go pay the fee and stand on the left? Doesn't anyone say like: the line is back there or something? And to you have to cut in front of someone or is the teller expecting you?
Neither line had anyone in it when I was there so I didnt have that problem.
There IS a sign over the line that is marked A/B to indicate 2 lines, but its not in the best spot to be clear.
I think lilacvioletiris almost had a problem until she pointed out the sign to someone that started to say something.
If you DONT stand on the left, the lady that was taking your paperwork and sent you to pay will get mad for holding everything up, she basically stops almost at the end so you can pay and come right back to her asap.

Oh Hey Vero!
Montreal handed out dates! Thought you should know
-
Mummm... I guess I'll ask again about the airbad thing... Maybe I can get away with it! It's not big deal though because my rusted beauty is probably not even worth 400$!
The letter of compliance will tell you if its out of spec with something.
AFAIK the vehicle has to comply with all US regulations that were in effect at the time of vehicle manufacture.

And if there is a god, he's a dummy for making people such selfish dinks who hate each other so much and are incapable of seeing each other's point of view.
This phrase cracked me up, I think it was the part about "selfish dinks"
You are my new hero

Ok so just went to pick up my prepaid envelope!!! what is with the big A$@ size? why on earth do we need something so big? I gotta carry that thing on a plane next week ha ha, have a great weekend everyone I am outta here!!!
Because its going to contain your passport with the visa as well as another envelope stuffed about 3/4 of an inch thick with other documents, and the next size down is too small

Gosh, I hope you're right Kizza...Getting a date before I leave might help with the stress!
I saw in your review that you were denied once when visiting? And I can see that it didn't affect your approval... That's relieving, I'm a little worried about next week, but now at least I can see that it'll be ok even if I get turned at customs...
God... The stress
Breathe! Breathe!
You arent doing ANYTHING wrong to visit. Not a damn thing, its going to be perfectly fine.
They have no reason to deny you, you will have ties with you in case it comes to that, you will answer truthfully, and to the point when they ask questions, no rambling
Let it slip to the back of your mind, focus on getting ready, packing and planning what you are going to do with your man when you get there.
Its going to be just fine Vero

Hey Brenda2010,
I was trying to import my car too, and apparently if you don't have a passanger's seat airbag you can't import it, unless you have one put in... Haven't confirmed that yet but... My car is old too, a 1993, and I don't know if it'll be worth it now...
By the way, I like how you put the costs of the visa process in your signature; smart!
You will need to confirm it, because the wording on the compliance letter seems to indicate that the compliance depends on the date of production.
For example, if the US did not have a requirement for a passenger side airbag in 1993, then you will be fine, but if they did have that requirement, and Canada did not, then you would need to install one, or forget about importing.

Yea, I would call again and tell them exactly what you are doing and what you are after, the person on the phone with me at Chrysler/Dodge knew what I wanted. Although they have a roundabout way of getting it...

Hey guys, I found us a visual aid! We must learn from it!
Ohhh, heres another!
Am I learning?

I like the whole, "If you love your home country so much, go back" argument too.
Its such a black and white statement
Cant I love both? Or even love my home country, and enjoy living in the USA, and more importantly, enjoy living in the USA with the one I love?

I am going to make a new creation of mine called Bhut Jolokia Chicken. I finally found a herb store in town which sells the Bhut Jolokia pepper (Ghost Pepper) so going to make a chicken dish with that tonight...
LOL, they make a powerful pepperspray from that stuff you know!
you are going to burn out your mouth

well i think i will go as my greyhound tickets are non refundable so that 610 bucks
but if the visas arrive i will DRIVE back here SOOO FAST and move EVEN FASTER
just incase it takes them weeeeeks to do anything again
dont wanna loose summer holdays with kids and hubby
i can always come back asap
thank you sooo much
this site is great
just hope i get the call tomorrow
If the Visa's arrive and you have someone to sign for the package at home, you may as well finish out your planned Vacation for the summer, its not like you arent already there with him. Just enjoy, then when you come back, pack up, and go back, ez

Well, there certainly is nothing to feel sorry for. It's not like i'm being exiled to Zimbabwe. It will be an adjustment for sure. She did it for me, so the least I can do is move for her. Besides, living in L.A. is kind of insane when you are thinking about starting a family. Homes are just too expensive here, and the cost of living is just too high to sustain.
I went to roadtocanada and well, that gives new meaning to 'ghost town'.
On the bright side, start to finish Im told that a married couple can be done with the process of getting to Canada in 3 months. So you can be here by the end of summer.
I DO know what Huggles means about the insanity that an area thats packed with people can be like. Im close to Toronto, and the traffic here is just stupid, even when there isnt any rush hour going on the roads are bumper to bumper, people cuttin each other off, slamming on brakes for no real reason its insane. I read something recently that compared the GTA to LA and New York for traffic, I believe it since Ive driven in New York and its pretty dang close.
Im happy I'll be heading more towards the Central coast, Santa Maria is a little less hot, better traffic, still has pretty decent diversity and I can still drive to LA if I want to make the trip

Where the heck is your husband working Ashen?! Sounds like an interesting atmosphere
I couldn't sleep because I had visions of him showing up and confronting a gang of burglars like Batman or something.
If your husband can confront burglars like Batman, I really dont know why you couldnt sleep, he sounds pretty damn awesome

I've done somewhat of a cursory check here on VJ, but couldn't really find anything. Could someone point me in the right direction to find information about immigrating to Canada?
Had enough of LA?

Hello,
I have a question about the online form DS-160. When I submitted my package 3 to the consulate I sent in the printed confirmation page but did not include a hard copy of the completed forms.
I am concerned about what to bring to the interview. Is the DS-160 confirmation page enough? If not, I'd have to fill out a new DS-160 because the information from the previous one cannot be saved (why not!?!!??!!?) This would mean I would have a new confirmation page and number.
I don't want to take any chances with Montreal.
Thank you!
I had the confirmation page with me, they did not even ask for it, and I suspect this is the case with most people.

So today I start talking to the event planners daughter about her immigration process... she really is clueless about all of it. I don't know how she could be, she just filed AOS but she really does think she's on a three year waiting list for citizenship. She has NO idea about ROC or anything. She believes she's on a list to wait. I was trying to tell her about my ROC process, you know to shoot the ####### with someone who perhaps understands and she said: "Oh ya it's a pain, we're on the waiting list right now for citizenship... we just got his green card though."
Waiting list for citizenship... like as if they're waiting for a kidney or something.
Then she made some comment about "Arabs coming in a blowing us up and we can't get citizenship fast enough" and that's when I walked away... very very slowly...
Id love to hire someone to follow that family around with a camcorder all day, its like a new reality series in the making

Wow. VJ is a virtual wasteland.
*tumbleweed*
I guess everyone's watching the world cup.
Pouring rain here.
So lonely.
No World Cup for me, Im at work, in Burlington
Its been on and off raining, I think I closed my sunroof....

Oh, that'll just prep you for the notoriously bad roads of Quebec! Never seen worse than our roads!
You'll have a soar bum from clanching everytime you hit a bump on the roads here...
Woah! November!!!
Wow, well, I hope you do some streching and warm-up before you see her!
Ive been stretching daily for the last week already
There may be a minor earthquake measured on the 25th Im thinking, lol

SupportGeek and valerie78:
Yeah for you two! I believe the atmospheric temperature on the continent will increase dramatically on the 25th from all that action that will take place that day
haha!
Wow, since December! Gosh I would have gone INSANE if that had been me! Are you staying long? Enjoy!
When was the last time you guys saw each other, SupportGeek?
So I've been gathering documents to show ties to Canada and here's what I got:
- 2 months worth of pay stubs
- Letter from employer
- Return flight info
- My filing thingy with all the visa info
Should be good, right? I don't have bills or anything so they'll have to make do with that!
Anyone calling today? I'm still on strike. I'll call Friday just to see but I'm NOT freaking out about it anymore... (never thought I'd say that!)
And of course, I'll be joining our weekly cocktails, with Sangria this week I think...
Cheers!
I think what you have is enough, most of the time I only got asked to show my flight itinerary, even though I brought bills and stuff, I didnt have to show any of it. Actually once I was crossing the border to fly outta Buffalo, the guard asked to see my itinerary, I went to hand it over, and it was REALLY windy that day, it all almost flew outta my hands, and he started waving at me to pull it back in the car, going "Oh man! Dont worry about it, have a nice trip!" he never even got to look haha.
I havnt seen her since November
Im REALLY looking forward to seeing her...BELIEVE me!

An interesting article on this very subject will be published in the Texas Heart Institute Journal, August 2010.
Will there be a way to view it online? or will I need to be a member of something to see it? Im pretty interested in it since there seem to have been some game changing discoveries recently that indicate overall cholesterol and is no indicator of heart disease risk at all.

What? A breast exam? The doctor I had took more time looking at my spine than anything else! At least it's done! Quite the relief, right?
Thanks SupportGeek, I had no idea that Sundays were more expensive, will keep that in mind next time! Well, I knew that flying on the weekend was more money, but didn't know that booking was too...
Have a good day ya'll! 9 days 'til I see my sweet cheeks again!
Happy to help
And yea, the prices themselves will fluctuate depending on the day of the week that you look them up, its interesting, but definitely Tues-Thurs are the best days to check the pricing!
You are seeing your fiancee on the 25th? Mine flies in to TO on the 25th so 9 days for me too
Have fun!
Should it take this long?
in Canada

Yea, unfortunately CR1 is around 3 months or so slower than K1 to get the interview, on the bright side once its done, you have your green card right away, where us K1'rs get to keep going through the wringer for ours.
