My fiance' got his interview date of May 3, 2010 when I called at 4 p.m. today! Anyone else received word of their interview date in May. We finished our packet 3 and it was logged by Montreal on March 1 so I figure people from Jan. and Feb. should be having dates too! Call 202-663-1225 before 5 p.m. to see if you are scheduled too!
So Cruel of you to post this with 15 minutes to go before 5pm EST, I want to knoooowwwwww.

really? a close friend of mine had a choledoch bypass because she had recurrent gall stones.
It sounded like they enlarged the bile duct.
Friend of mine had the gallbladder removed, was pretty simple, and only 2 itty bitty incisions, all laporoscopic.

Anything that makes you feel like progressing can be a huge help. And as you most certainly will have a date within six months, there's no harm in getting it out of the way. Except that, once you do receive an interview date, you'll be itching to do something and won't have anything left to get done! Hehe.
The good thing is, if you happen to be like some of the cases we've seen where you're only given a couple of weeks notice for the interview, you won't have to worry about rushing to get it done should your schedule be difficult to navigate.
Hah, I wish, I have a house to pack!
Id love to be one of those people that can just pack up my car and bail across the border once everything is done though. Must be nice!

Yeah, we got our census the other day...and I was wondering what the big deal was too! Very basic info there. I was wondering if censuses were different per household. I hope so. Otherwise I can't understand why such minor items are considered so important. Ours had no financial element to it...was basically just a head count about how many people live here.
Maybe its like the Canadian one, where most people just get asked basic info, but a certain number get asked much more in-depth questions

what the heck was that guy thinking? I always love the strange stories of people trying to get across the border using sneaky tactics. Being from the Niagara Falls area, there always seems to be a story that emerges once every couple years about someone trying to swim the Niagara River or trying to scale the walls of the escarpment. People aren't very smart!
My Mom used to work at the Huntingdon/Sumas Border crossing as a Customs broker, and the border officers would always tell her about the crazy things people would do to cross. One group even dug a tunnel from one farm in Canada to one in the US, and would smuggle people (and drugs) back and forth, the kicker is that the RCMP and Homeland security knew about it about a week after they finished it, then managed to get in the tunnel while everyone on both ends were away and install all kinds of cameras and suveillance gear. They watched them for a few months, apprehending everything that came out of either end, and no one even once figuring out how they knew what was going on, haha.
Ive heard that they have thermal and motion sensors all along the border where 0 Ave is, dont know how true that is though.

I was just laughing my ####### off the other day at people's vents about getting a negative response. You'd think that someone had died or something. Come on, it's the internet, can't take anything seriously. But I guess i've got thicker skin, I used to post on 4chan a lot and can say that the worst on VJ is not even close to the tame on there.
4chan = the scourge of the internet!
Not a group you want to make angry at you lol

Who are you Jesus of Visajourney??
I like to envision myself as more of a hero like El'Kabong

People get pissy about marks on the internet?
People get pissy about ALL KINDS of trivial things on the internet, or anywhere really.
Thicker skin prz

Ive been roaming around and eliminating the -1s on random posts with a + if I dont really see a reason for it to be downranked

You can edit for 5 minutes, that's all! So you have to type madly and proof read everything you say 15 times before posting
Ugh, that seems.....inconvenient
I think my only other real complaint about the new boards is that everyones story in their profile seems to have vanished, I used to like reading them and seeing that my fiancee and I arent the only ones to meet online in an MMO initially
-
Then you have made a mistake!!
Ok, I see that it does it on an individual post basis. Well, that's interesting and thanks to whomever voted my comment above down.
I always make mistakes darn it!
On another note, I think its odd that I cant edit any previous posts.
Edit: Ok, it seems you can edit the post as long as you JUST posted it? but after you leave the thread and come back, the edit button isnt there anymore

I think they have disabled it anyway? I see everyones as zero now.
Nope, I just made Rob and Mel a +2

you got a +1 for this post.
reading through off topic, you'll see a bunch of minuses next to some posters and their post isn't offensive at all - it's like this is high school again.
I clicked on a +1 on a post further up the list here...but the button is so small I hit the minus instead, and now I cannot change it

Personally I'll wait until I get my interview date to book the medical... I think that's what most people do in Montreal.
I dont think there is much of a wait to get an appointment.
Its about 2 weeks right now, I dont have an interview date yet, (P3 has been with Montreal since Feb 2 *sadfase*) but I wanted to get it out of the way since its good for 6 months so I called and booked it. Also It just made me feel like things are still progressing if I get it done, even though Ive heard not a peep from Montreal in a while.
Apr 5 for my Medical at least...Is it sad that Im excited?

Thank you guys. I can't believe this is another $40. I also can't believe I was so stupid and didn't pay attention to the "long form" until now. Big failure for me! We are just now calling the NVC to see if they got our approved I129F... I hope we have a couple months before the interview. We had our NOA-2 for the K1 approved 3 months early, and did not have the expected time to save up. This is getting really tight. And most annoying is due to living in BC he can't get a credit card until next year at 19. I've tried to put him on mine, but just went in circles. Sorry, rant over.
Based on your timeline, it looks like you dont even have the packet 3 yet, so you are easily a couple months or more from an interview, you have plenty of time so dont panic
Try not to stress over $40, plenty of stuff in this process seems to cost way more than that, just keep rollin and you will do fine.

Hi All, so I called the NVC to see if they had sent my visa approval to MTL as they received on March 9th at the NVC and they gave me my case # that begins with MTL. I am a little confused. I called monday and the lady at NVC said they uploaded my approval notice to the MTL Consualte but it has not been accepted by them yet as she couldn't get into the file?? what does that mean?? I thought that once the NVC approved your petion they couried via DHL to the consulate, I justwant to know if it has left and arrived at MTL yet? Can anyone help me out on this. Also anyone know how long MTL is taking with interview dates, I heard 3 months, from the date they accept your packet 3 back, 1 month, just
Thanks
Like Sam and Ben said above, there is a bit of a delay between when the packet arrives at Montreal and when they actually enter it into the system as "received", not sure what it entails, filing it, entering it into the database, or just stamping it and throwing it into Joe clerks inbox.
As far as interview dates, Ive been scouring the forums for more information too, Its been over 6 weeks for me since the P3 went back and not a peep, so I had my fiancee call DoS, "everything looks fine with it, its just waiting to be assigned an interview date", so Im really not sure when I will be getting an interview at this point, Im crossing my fingers for May latest, but who knows...
Really unsure why it takes that long to schedule a date if everything is fine, seems straight forward to me, open calenders for the interview officers, find the one with the next open available date, assign case to date, email officer, and petitioner with copy paste replies, send out formletter snailmail. Rinse repeat ad-infinitum.

This article is extremely hard to take with even a shred of credibility because it Godwins itself in the first couple of sentences.
It fails on all fronts, hard.

Ohh, yea I'll try and find a white wall and take a pic, since I live alone that could be an interesting use of camera placement and timing
Otherwise, i have an extra anyhow when I got the US sized ones earlier, so in a pinch, that will do.
Im just fairly neurotic about wanting to be sure Im doing it all right, and no mistakes, then I second guess myself and think I could be messing the whole thing up with one comma in the wrong place or something. Makes me crazy, the wait is long enough without my clumsiness adding anything to it haha
Thanks so much Hugglebuggles and Kimbear!

Ugh,
Well everyone here is so helpful, Im hoping someone has the answers I need again
Ive been filling out the online DS-160 form and every time I try to submit the picture it takes it then tells me:
"Head size or position relative to image dimensions may be incorrect"
It looks correct to me. It isnt one of the same photos I had taken for medical and consulate though, Its a Canadian passport sized one that I cropped down.
I dont have a scanner so Im not sure I can get one of the other physical ones scanned in to try. It says something about submitting a picture with passport, can I just leave the picture out until the interview and hand over the physical ones then?
Also I plan to send in my packet 3 tomorrow, how did some of you send it? Priority next AM that needs a signature? Or 1 Day Xpresspost tracking but no signature?
Hlep!

For part II, You DO need to fill it in BUT you cannot sign it -- it will be signed at the interview.
I'm assuming you're doing a CR1 visa application? ARe you doing Electronic processing or regular? If Regular you have to send in all original documents except for your passport which you will bring to your interview.
But they need your original long form BC, marriage certificate, police record and such... make two copies of everything to keep...
hope this helps... anyone chime to add anything else...
Oh sorry, I forgot to specify its a K1 Fiancee visa
The coversheet does say not to send the original documents, but send the checklist indicating that you have obtained the documents listed
I dont suppose anyone would happen to know where I can track down my vaccination records, I grew up and lived in B.C. until about 10 years ago when I moved to Ontario. I just havnt had a lot of success with B.C. so far.

Hey All,
Just got my packet 3 and Im working on it now.
The instructions on the coversheet say to complete and return the forms listed: DS230, Part I
But there are 2 pages Part I and 2 pages Part II, and on Part II it says:
"This form (DS-230 Part II), together with Form DS-230 Part I, constitutes the complete Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration."
But I definitely do not need to fill out Part II?
Also the packet says on the attached checklist to indicate that I have obtained the listed documents, It doesn't say to send the checklist items though, I assume those are for the interview later then?
I had to order the long version of my birth certificate, and renew my passport since it would expire in 2 weeks anyhow, both should arrive in a couple of weeks, would It be ok if I checked it now and sent the checklist back in before those items arrive in the mail to me?
Oh, Also, I should wait until my interview date is issued before trying to get my medical exam, correct?
thanks for the help!

Hi and welcome,
No need for the 120 day RCMP check - unless you have a criminal record. That 120 day estimate is for a fingerprint version only - no criminal record, no fingerprints required.
You can go to your local police station or to the RCMP to request the CPIC name check.
More info on exactly what you need is here.
Thank you ever so much. Every step gets us closer, but its more than a little nerve racking

Hi!
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I thought I should ask in this thread than create a new one.
My American Fiancee and I received our NOA2 on Dec 21, so Ive been figuring out what information I need before the package 3 arrives.
Where the police check/certificate is concerned, I lived in BC for most of my life, but the last 10 have been in Ontario, should I just be able to go to my local Peel Regional police for the document I need? Or do I have to sign up for that 120 day wait for the RCMP search? Being this far along and seeing that it might take 4 months JUST for the police check with RCMP sort of felt like a punch to the stomach
K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!

Oh I know, it was just torture going through the whole weekend knowing I missed being able to call by a few minutes
My p3 stuff was in a month before you even so I have fingers crossed, heck I barely slept last night even.
