Travis, all my application got sent back to Missoury . So I guess they must have opened a new office over there, hopefully they are more motivated then Cali lol

I received my EAD card last week, now I just need to translate that resume of mine, but have no idea on how to >.< . My job title doesn't even exists in America. They are so lazy here, that the 5-6 assignments I used to do in France with a single "job title", here, they assign 1 person for each assignment >.< . I'm still trying to figure out what to put in that resume, I think I'll have a 5 pages resume >.<

Oh, and Mrs D says Hi, things are getting complicated, but once she tame the dog, she will come back

We are now in New Hampshire, got married for the SECOND time last saturday, will be back home on monday hopefully

Gratz KisK on the transfer, I'm right behind you , tried a walk-in on Monday in Charlotte, they didn't even look at the date, took 15 min (waiting for my turn and taking the fingerprint/photo), then went shopping at IKEA lol

I received the letter that they transferred it to CSC :dance:

I guess I'll get my EAD just in time, when I get back from NH ^^

I just feel I should let you know, it's not worked out for me. Believe me, there is no one more shocked than me! If I hadn't bought a house here (outright) and brought my dogs I would have gone back home before now. Working out what to do day by day. It's not all in my hands, though.

I won't be on here much, but I so very, very much need to express what you all mean to me and when I can get on here, I will. I'll tell my story one day, but not any time soon.

I called them to ask if i can just do a walk-in for my biometrics, and the lady told me that it's better to get an Infopass appointment, or just ask for rescheduling following what's written on the notice.

So I go on Infopass, and after i enter my postal code, I get an option to choose a local USCIS Office 1 hour closer then the one they wanted to send me too. So I call back the USCIS to ask them if it won't be an issue to go to that office, and the second lady tells me that I can't reschedule the appointment via infopass ...

what to do, what to do ><

I just received my biometrics letter, scheduled on august 20th, I'll have to reschedule for a monday appointment, or maybe risk just showing up a monday and try my luck like KisK did lol, but it's a 2 hours drive, maybe I'll call first lol

Thanks for the info T, but the problem is, I'm not employed yet lol. I know I can drive it with my international driving license, but just for 3 month from my arrival to the US. It's just that I can't put it in my name until I get my US license ...

I cannot stand hearing this! The driving place told me that we have to take a test to get a licence in SC, but said they weren't sure and to call the "international office in Rock Hill, SC, whose phone service just tells you to leave a message and they will call you back. Well, 7 days have passed and I'm still waiting for the call back! Can't stand it!

I went to get my SSN number last week. Went into the place, was told it would be a 2 hour wait, at least, no seat free! Couldn't face it, so I left! I live 30 miles from this SSN office, will have to steel myself to try again next week. And Mr Dog has to take the day off work to drive me, cos I can't drive myself as no licence, and it's $120 for a taxi there and back, no buses. Aargh!

Unfortunately, the UK citizen have to take a test, cos you drive on the wrong way lol. Fot the SSN, it really sucks ... If you want, try to go to the SSN of Laurens, they kinda know about the K1 visa, cos I've been there lol.

Still in AP and i'll have to watch the 'scheduled' date of the wedding pass from 3.5k miles away.

Just bought my car yesterday , a Ford Explorer, big enough for the Doggies and to go up to NH for the August wedding, but it's in my hubby's name now (he loves it, and takes it to work now instead of his car , na it's fine with me, I'll make him pay me for driving it lol , jk jk ) cos I don't have my US driving license yet, stupid DMV, I'm still looking for a french translator ...

I'd offer, but I don't think I count as 'official'

I wish >< . Drue told the lady he could get me a translator certificate in 24 hours via the web, so I could certify my own translation , but the lady was smart, and said I they wouldn't accept that

Update: We got married yesterday in the courthouse.It was sweet short and simple.Just had his parents,his sister and her family,and my best buddy as our guests.We celebrated afterwards with a good lunch and some champagne.

I am thrilled to be a wife now.

Not so thrilled about all the paper-work and everything immigration yet! I want to be in denial of it all. Can I?

Anyway,I had a question.I never visited the SSA for the ssn card,since I have one,and I got married exactly 2 weeks after my POE.I am going to be changing my name,and I shall be going to the ssa for that.So a one time trip should be fine right?Will it serve as a name change and also help me get a new social security card?I hope I did not miss any step in between.

And also ,do I need to wait on my new social security card for sending in as part of the AOS paper-work?Or I could take that to the interview directly?

I would appreciate some help ladies!

Take a 2 weeks break you deserve it lol, or you could just file everything right away, and then your break will while waiting for the biometrics lol

For the SSN, the marriage certificate is a proof that you got married, you will need to tell them what will your new name be. But be careful, cos it have to be the same exact one that you will write down on the AOS papers. I had to argue with the lady telling her that I applyed for the AOS, and this is why my name on the SS should match the one on the AOS file. So I guess depends on your luck and how nice the lady/man are lol

You will get the SS card 10-14 days after by mail, and no, you don't need to send a copy for the AOS, you just need to put the number in, but then again, do however you feel it's best

Naddy - good luck on the driving licence, let me know what happens there. At least you are used to driving on the same side of the road! I am not and am terrified of taking to the roads, and also of getting lost as I live way out in the country, but the sooner I get driving the better as I will be a prisoner in my own home and small town! Not good!

As for the shipping, depends if you are shipping furniture or not, I only took like 1 extra luggage and 2 boxes with me on the plane. American Airlines allows you to have 9 extra luggage of 22kg each with you. You pay 50$ for the first one, and 100$ for each extra one.

My mistake was the boxes, 12 kg each, would have been better if I bought extra cheap luggage to fill them up . had to leave over 1000€ of stuff back in france, but oh well, what's done is done.

You can have more info on their website, but it's really cheaper then shipping them via a shipping company (i've been quoted 700$)

Off to the DMV today to see if they can just switch my french driving license to an american one without having to drive
