  1. I called NVC this morning and my petition hasn't been entered in their system yet :(. I was hoping it was already there because next Monday is a federal holiday and I wanted the package to make it to Montreal when the office is open. The DHL packets of late have only been 2 pounds so hopefully they aren't getting too much new mail. There was one just before New Years was 9 pounds though.

I am praying for a July 11, 2010 wedding date. I haven't paid my deposit on the church yet but I will likely do it next week.

  2. Just a reminder for everyone as we jump through the National Visa Center hoop.

What you want to do is call NVC at (603) 334-0700 press 1 then 5. They will ask you the following:

    Case#

Benificiary's date of birth and name

Petitioner's date of birth and name

Ask them if they have received your case and an estimate of when it will be forwarded to the Embassy of your fiance. Also ask for your NVC case#.

I would call NVC about a week after receiving your NOA2.

  3. Now that I have downloaded the new Adobe Acrobat Reader and CHINESE TRADITIONAL FONTS package I can finally read the I-864p.pdf file. Crazy. Took me 10 minutes just to get to the place where I can view it! Chinese Traditional Fonts? Why exactly do I need that to read this USCIS document? I guess I will never know!

Your NOA2's are coming! Each day brings you and your loved one closer to having the first approval in the process! Then on to NVC and the consulate of the country your loved one is in! Just a little while longer!

  4. I am praying Montreal will be able to get more of us waiting for an interview at least scheduled. Having a date gives some sort of hope and a goal. Hopefully more of you will hear something soon. Tomorrow I am going to call the NVC to see if my package for my fiance' has gotten mailed to the Montreal consulate. Then I will be in the "waiting to be logged" boat :) One step closer!!!!

  5. Congratulations thekatocat! Getting the NOA2 is exciting news! I have been telling anyone that has any inkling that I am going through the immigration process to get my fiance' here about the news since I got my NOA2! I can't wait to find out if my package has gotten to NVC and left to Montreal. I know there is a big backlog at the Montreal Consulate and the sooner it gets there, the better! I want to marry my fiance'!

  6. Moving pets is important. They are devoted to their owners often (especially a cat or dog). My fiance's father keeps saying my fiance' needs to take the cat that has lived at my in-laws house for over 15 years and NOT with my fiance'. My fiance' loves the cat but thinks such a dramatic change of living space (the country to the city) wouldn't do well for the elderly cat. I hope you are all able to get your pets where they will be loved.

  7. I will be looking forward to those that have been waiting for Montreal interviews before my fiance' to get theirs. Our package is on its way to NVC right now. I am looking forward to hearing when it makes it to Montreal even if it will mean waiting a month or more for them to open the mail and log its existence. PROGRESS IS PROGRESS!

  8. This last week I had been totally carb-loading as I was on pins and needles waiting for my NOA2! When it came on Friday night I celebrated! Cookies! Hum, the cheese, bread, olives, and pickles sound like a good combination though.

  9. Homemade macaroni and cheese with some Bush's vegetarian baked beans on the side. Making extra mac and cheese to have this next weekend when my fiance' comes to visit so I can feed him but not have to spend much time cooking! Seeing him is SO much more important!

  10. Ok, Leenie, I thought it was some sort of weird particular to NVC information I should know before I called. I will definitely wait a few days before calling. Since my approval was emailed to me at 8:15 p.m. I can hardly imagine that it went on in Jan. 8's mail. It will probably go out on Monday and once I have the NOA2 hardcopy in my hand I will call the NVC. My fiance' was so shocked that we were approved on Friday night that he called back twice. "So this isn't like a pre-approval. They really approved us. We don't have to send any more evidence that we met and intend to marry." I told him, "Nope." We were both in tears from the happiness of it all by the end of the second phone call because it was starting to sink in that that process is really moving forward!

  11. Congratulations!

This website has awesome guides and people who have been through the different processes (K-1 come to U.S. to marry your American boy, K-3 get married in Canada then come to U.S. and another that I am not as familiar with IR-1 which I think has to do with getting married first (in Canada) then coming to the U.S.)

I am the American girl who became engaged to a Canadian man and he is moving to the U.S. to be with me and we will marry in the U.S. in my current town.

Look through the guides above, take into consideration where you want to get married (U.S. or in Canada) and then make the decision. My fiance' and I took about a month to consider whether I would go to Canada or he would come to the U.S. Given our professions, it made financial sense for him to come here. But only you and your fiance' will know what is most important to you.

The Canadian forum is great too.

Check out the guides listed above and good luck.
