I dialed the NVC 53 times and finally got through to find out my petition was forwarded to Montreal on Jan. 19. There was a DHL package for Montreal on Jan. 20 (there was none with a reference of Jan. 19) and it arrived at 4:20 p.m. today. I can't wait for my fiance' to get his packet 3 and be able to return his paperwork to be put in line for an interview. Yeah! One step closer. Now the petition is at least IN CANADA! It was quite the excitement on the CR1 thread. All of a sudden people were getting emails with interview dates. Hopefully some K-1s will be getting a flood of interview dates too.

It is a small thing to do to know more about when I will get to be with my LOVE forever! One step closer. Now the petition is in Canada! That is worth all the phone calls in the world!
-
I can't believe I dialed the NVC 53 times just to get through! Just deleted all the calls from my cell phone list.
-
YEAH! Shipment delivered at 4:20 p.m. , signed by Harold in Montreal Canada!
Now the wait for Packet 3 begins! I am hoping my fiance' it in his hands in 21 days or less (seems to be the going rate for Montreal interview prospects with K-1's) so according to the date calculator I use Add or Subtract from a Calendar Date he should have the package 3 list of documents to fill out and return by Friday, Feb. 12, 2010. That would be perfect. There is an online form with a bar code thing that I didn't want to fill out and print for him until he had his packet 3 list. He has all the other paper forms and has been handwriting in the responses so I can type them up and print them (since he doesn't have a printer).

I believe the packages contain more than just us K-1 petitions. It is any petitions that are being sent to a particular consulate. I know MY PETITION wasn't more than a pound all by itself, unless USCIS has it in some huge folder or something. I am betting my package is more likely the one that went out Jan. 20 though, because on Tuesday morning, the people at NVC said that my petition wasn't complete in their computer systems. It is all a guess anyway because we don't know FOR SURE what package our petitions are in, but it gives me some hope about when they arrive!

Well, there was no Montreal shipment on EXP 19 JAN 2010A but there is one for EXP 20 JAN 2010A, and it is "with delivery courier" as of 11:56 a.m. this morning. I wonder if it will get delivered today or not? Hum.
edit: Looks like a shipment that was delivered on 1/20/10 was signed for at 4:23 p.m. so there is still hope it makes it there today! Yeah!

And the woman said "Now you do know that it was sent to the Montreal Embassy on Tuesday, Jan. 19?" Well, no, I didn't but that makes my weekend! Now to check DHL.com to see if it was delivered!
-
I am on hold at the NVC! Yeah!
-
Go to dhl.com
Go to track by reference.
Put in the following
EXP 20 JAN 2010A
and change the date to whatever date the NVC tells you your package was sent out. If it was sent out today, it may not show up in the computer system until next week, but you can at least take a look.
Have fun.

Ok, I am going to keep calling NVC. I really want to know what day my package got sent out. Seems like Montreal gets a package every day. Some are heavier than others. I clicked on one that was going to Manila once, though, it was about 72 pounds or something. The biggest I have seen go to Montreal was around 9 pounds. Now to keep hitting redial on my cell phone!

Do you really think the DOS "backlog" will slow down petitions that are already at the Montreal Consulate?
-
I think I will stick with my Canadian man and the lack of drama in the Canadian forum. I can hardly believe the story linked above. LOL! Who needs drama when you can get a good laugh! LOL! I hope the woman is either making up the story or finds a sound end to it. Ah, yi, yi!

My fiance' and I registered at Home Outfitters in Canada for wedding gifts. They have some sort of "pick up at local store policy". I might have to be driving back to Kingston, ON to pick up wedding gifts without my fiance' until he gets his Advanced Parole. Hopefully your gifts won't be left on the front door step. That would be sad.
-
You have to book a civil ceremony? For your sake and all the rest of us Montreal interview waiters, I hope some more interviews get booked soon. Have fun as you get ready for your wedding.

As long as your passport has validity beyond the length of your stay (I think 6 months passed the end of your stay from something I read somewhere), and you tell the truth to the border guard "I am going to visit my fiance' for x number of weeks/days for a vacation" you should be fine. There are those that say to have a copy of bills/letter from employer, etc that say you are going back to Canada. Just don't take all your belongings with you, just enough for the length of trip you are taking.

How fast does Trinidad get consulate interviews scheduled? At the Montreal consulate where my fiance' has to go, the letter he receives with packet 3 has been saying 4 to 6 MONTHS until an appointment for an interview. Yes, there is lots of courier activities for your lady to complete, but will she have enough to keep her occupied until she has her visa in hand and can come to the states to stay?

Those are pretty, I like the ones that look like they have bubbles in the stem (your second link).
This is what I received: Floating Hearts Flute Pair

cecilia-gary, you can wait, and may want to wait until at least you have your hard copy of the NOA2 (because my petition didn't get to Vermont much faster than the NOA2 got to my mailbox). You just need to call 603-334-0700, then press 1 for English and press 5 for a human (because the K-1's aren't put in the automatic response system for some reason) and have your case # from your receipt letter, the beneficiary's name and birthdate and your name and birthdate and they will give you NVC case number. You can ask when they expect to send it to the embassy and with that information it is possible to use dhl.com to "guess" what shipment it was in.
Good luck! Someone said the phone had been super busy and they couldn't get through on the phone number I listed above.
-
Wow, that was quick! 72 days! I thought my 85 days was awesome. But I think each of us is happy when we get our NOA2's because it means one step closer to our loved one!
-
oops (I thought I was in a CSC thread, but now see it is a VSC thread, eek).
-
Krili, someone said that the Department of State phone number has been very busy because of the issues in Haiti. Yes, that phone number is what I have on my "cheat sheet" about how to determine when my petition gets forwarded to the embassy. (I had called at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday and it took me awhile to get through to someone but I haven't tried since then).

Congratulations Beth and John! OOOOOH, yeah! Now the wait for NVC and the consulate in Vancouver!
-
Just put my mark on the Canalien google map! Very cool. Seems that Danu WAS just a few blocks away from my fiance' but she is now happily married in the U.S. and there was another VJer from Kingston, ON too.

Kayla, I registered at Macy's with some value of Lenox items (I liked their Butterfly Meadow china and got the required dollar amount that way) and received for free, just for registering, a pair of floating hearts toasting flutes. They are crystal on top placed in silver bases with little heart charms that are attached at the top edge. Very pretty.
K-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal
in Canada

Have all the CR-1's that are on VJ been given interview dates? I know it was a lot but I figured there are always more! We all want to be with our loved ones, and you husbands/wives even more so, I am sure! I want my fiance' to be able to come to the U.S. so he can become my husband. The less waiting, the better, in my opinion.
