  1. As long as they have valid passports, I would think it wouldn't be an issue. "Where are you going? How long are you staying? Do you have any fruits, vegetables, meat, blah, blah, blah? Pop the trunk, please. The border guard takes a look and then "Have a nice day!" If they are coming from Canada, they don't even need a visa to visit, just a valid passport. Getting the passport seems to be a deterrent for some of my fiance's Canadian relatives. "It's North America, why do I have to pay to cross the border?" Good luck as you get your family ready to drive a LONG way or fly to Connecticut for the wedding.

  2. I can't understand why they aren't in the automated system. Glad to help and good luck on hold. It actually told me to call back between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. or so. but since I was calling at 8:07 a.m. I just stayed on hold. I can't wait to hear when my package is on its way to Montreal! The lady asked for my fiance's email address, I am figuring so the consulate can send the packet 3 via email to my fiance'. I can hardly wait!

  3. My Canadian fiance' has never had those documents with him (lease, bills, etc) but has always just told the border guards, " I am going to visit my fiance' for the weekend" They usually make him pop the trunk and since he doesn't bring anything unnecessary with him, he hasn't had a problem. I would suggest you not "move anything" to the U.S. in expectation of your visa and the border guards won't likely give you any bother.

  4. We are planning a July 11, 2010 wedding as long as our interview at Montreal and subsequent visa in hand process gets processed in time. With the backlog at Montreal, if we don't have an interview date by May, we will likely push the wedding date back. His Canadian relatives are very excited and want to come to the wedding that will be in Michigan. They have to get passports and such for travel so we want to give them as much time as possible to process there paperwork to travel "internationally". I put down the deposit on the church yesterday! The pastor understands though that although July 11 is the date we want it could be August, September, or later if the consulate interview is delayed further than their 4-6 month projected wait time. I will get married in 2010. That much is pretty sure!

  5. My fiance' is visiting this weekend :) We are going to make our wedding registry, start the required pre-marital counseling to be married in my church, and go to a banquet put on my workplace. AH, it is a good weekend. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it is NOT a TRAIN! I wish NVC was open tomorrow but I will wait until Tuesday to call and see if my package made it out to Montreal, Canada yet.

  6. Your embassy should send you a letter with documentation you need to send them (and return) and a list of other documents to collect and bring to the interview. That is my understanding so far, having not gotten to the embassy yet. But I am hoping come Tuesday when I call NVC they will tell me my package has been DHled to Montreal, Canada.

BTW, I received my hardcopy NOA2 yesterday. It had a postmark of 1/10 (which is a Sunday, how odd). Took longer than I expected to get the hard copy.

  7. OOH, VJ Canada. I check it out. I had basically not told anyone I was pursuing the K-1 visa except my closest family and friends because my fiance' hasn't told his boss yet he is leaving (Fiance' says he is "playing it close to his chest and btw he is the CANADIAN!)

  8. Congrats Krilii! Isn't it exciting!

TaiwanLover, I only had pictures with a type written date (not on the picture) and explanation of where we were. I also included a copy of an announcement from my school about our engagement (but it was on regular paper, not anything special, but it did have a date and a web address to go get "the real thing") and my petition was approved. I had no boarding passes, receipts, or anything. I didn't learn about this site until about a month after my petition was in the hands of USCIS.

  9. I think i sympathize with you kizza because once you finally get your NOA2 there is still another long wait for Montreal. Right now it looks like 2-4 months after they LOG packet 3 before an interview.

Boy i thought my expectations for a late February early March approval were half decent. The longer i wait for packet 3 the more i think it may be June. ugh

I hope your NOA2 comes soon Kizza because the wait for Montreal is a bummer. I was thinking it would take a month or 2 to get an interview at Montreal (their 42 day processing time statement on their website got my hopes up but then I read the Canada forum about "Montreal wait to interview"). I am hoping that those of us with NOA2's in Dec. and Jan. will have interviews by May! Make our dreams come true Montreal consulate!

  10. Your flower girl says, "Yes, I walk down the aisle and spread flowers for you!" even though she hasn't been a flower girl before! I am so glad. I really didn't have another little girl who could fit the bill!

  11. I hope for your sake you get an interview. April 25 was our first date choice, but then when we started looking at how long the process takes we moved the date to June, then my matron of honor told me her baby was going to be born that day, and now our date is July 11, 2010 which I am hoping will fit in with interview process at Montreal. I am praying for expedited interviews for ALL!
