Hello Everyone.
My immigrant visa was initially scheduled to be processed through US consulate in Ghana because I had my residency Permit in the country but had it changed to the Hydra-headed Monster consulate of Lagos, the consulate that pride itself as the king of Visa Denials..lol a few months back.
Here is the details@
My priority date was December 2nd,2009,everything was fine until 7th of May 2010 because it was then that my case was closed at the NVC,hence, was awaiting interview at the US Embassy In Accra, Ghana.I have been a member of this site for a little over a year now but I've been inactive cos my wife knew so much about the process, hence it was a smooth sailing up to the time the case was closed. No RFE or any hiccups and as a result this there was no need to be coming on here. However,We started getting worried after 2months when the only thing we hear from the NVC is that 'Unfortunately we werent able to schedule for this month blah... blah.At the time I wasnt aware that Accra Embassy is severely backlogged until first week in August 2010 that I came across an article written by a Ghana person attesting to the long wait that it dawned on us that we are here for a long wait. After a careful Analysis between my wife and I and Judging the timeline of the people in Lagos who also had their case completed around about the same time with ours, we decided to take the risk of changing Embassy.Lest I forget, Am a Nigerian but also a legal resident of Ghana. We requested for the Embassy change on August 10th,2010 and got ARS confirming the receipt of the mail,by 16th of September, we were asked by the NVC to furnish them with our Lagos Address since we inadvertently left it out in the initial request mail, hence there was additional delay of 11days.Anyway, the case was again closed on the 6th of October,2010 but still referencing the initial closing date of May 7th 2010.With a new case number we were on the queue again for the interview at Lagos consulate.November went by but nothing, no news from NVC regarding the interview but we werent disappointed cos of the additional processing days due to my address issue in Lagos hence our interview would have been scheduled for the later part of November cos it seems they have been very consistent of recent at Lagos consulate in scheduling interview between 30-40 days after the case is closed at NVC, if anyone should take a closer look at the recent timeline of the people from Lagos, they will be able to confirm this.Anyway, I received an Email from the NVC on the 4th of November confirming first interview slated for December 1st,2010, it was a great news to us cos it means technically we only lost a month and that was when people that had their case completed in Ghana since December 2009 were still waiting for an interview date so we were grateful to God For that grace.Note:I was able to change to Nigeria consulate cos am A Nigerian my advice to Those waiting for interview in Ghana is to try Lagos consulate but they must have resident permit in Nigeria which I think might be another huddle so am sure that is never an option at this stage expect you are in a similar position like me as in, if you have Nigeria residency permit but your immigrant visa is to be processed through Ghana then the good news is that you can request for a change of embassy to Lagos because it seems the wait in Ghana wont end now, it is so depressing to say that but all I can say is that be strong and hang in there....
Now the interview, nothing different from the previous review from other members about the wait, no electronics must be on you and so on.Inside the building, Asian Lady was there for the drill, lol for about 10 mins, the reason it took that long was as a result of me getting married in Ghana which seems odd to me by some questions she asked cos it was evident that they really didnt look at my documents. At last, she found an excuse not to issue me the visa out rightly when I said my wife has a new job.Note:My wife was only jobless for 1 month thats btw August and September and She got a new Job in October, she however asked me to provide a new notarized 134 and 864 b4 my visa can be granted. It was so disappointing cos that development shattered our planned Christmas holiday together but we were consoled of the fact that it wasnt an outright denial.During the interview, she asked the usual questions, Like what attracted me to my wife, her address in the US ,who my wife is blah blah....which I answered correctly which was why people listening to the interview were shocked that I wasnt given cos to me I did very well likewise they but obviously not to the Asian Lady that was why she Used the excuse of my wife's new job to do the kill lol.Lastly, my second interview was scheduled for January 11th which was yesterday.I was interview by one fine African American Man unfortunately I performed woefully cos one of a suddenly I was just not myself lol but It seems God Used that to proof himself and am grateful to God for that.No swearing to an oath expect the request for the documents, dont forget that I got form 221g because of 134 and 864 in my first interview. So he only asked few questions but to my out-most surprise he only asked for call records as against the 134 and 864 which I had in Abundance infact my file will intimidate you cos i realized he glance at them and saw the wow expression in his eyes.Anyway, he was just too nice and didnt mind my inability of not answering most of the questions,he Just went ahead and issued the white sheet with the IV card sticker and asked if I know the address, that is it my people, am sure God really intervened on my behalf yesterday.I pray for those of you who are still waiting for an approval will experience God's favor as well Amen.My observation is that 221g is really not a big deal cos u wouldnt be quizzed or drilled much cos it seems they will write down your performance and grade you during the first interview, i realized that a lady b4 me also got hers approved as well by the same guy also on 221g.Just pray to have a good CO

First of all, am grateful to all the people on this great site for their unflinching supports, may your heart desires be granted unto you all in Jesus Name.Am indebted to Azuomaobidiya and Damilola in particular for their moral supports, may the good Lord continue to be with both of you.The 221g interview went well even though I couldnt answer most of the questions asked lol cos I really wasnt myself but I guess God was trying to make a statement thats never by my might neither is it by my strength but by his spirit says the Lord.At last! I was approved.I will write back shortly to give more details of the interview.God will see all of you through most especially those who are still waiting to be approved.

I dont see any problem with your situation. However,u must be ready to answer to them on why u tried to go to the USA earlier on, with the finger print system, A gold fish has no hiding place.Just ensure u tell them the truth cos they already have ur record, any misrepresentation will result to a red flag.I was also denied once which was 2years ago, when I went for my Cr interview about 3 weeks ago I was asked about the denial and My CO was pleased with my answers.I wasnt given the visa simply bcos they needed an Additional documents from me but aside that every other things was fine.Just remember the answers u gave during those interviews, I surely believe u will be fine.

Thanks a lot cheyemo! I will keep u posted

Hello again,
my interview was last Wednesday, everything was fine until the CO asked what my wife does for a living. My wife changed Job about 2months ago and was only jobless for one month.immediately i told her that she paused and later typed something on her PC and the verdict was that I should get a new Form I-134 and Form I-864 which is already on the way to me.my question now is this:The 221g form given to me did state that i should chose any date of my choice for my next appointment from Monday to Thursday at 1pm except America and Nigeria holidays but limited availability of time.My concern are; will they be able to follow through their words? cos am ready to send them a email for my next appointment,.Anyone with similar situation should pls comment most especially through Nigeria consulate.

Thanks Tero, damilola and patient2010.everything was fine until she asked me what my wife does for a living which i did tell her the truth. My wife changed job about 2 months ago so she was only jobless for one month,Immediately I told her that she paused and later typed something on the PC and the verdict was that i should get a new form 134 and 864 signed and notarized which is already on the way to me but my concern now is if they will be able to honor what is stated in the 221gform given to me that i should chose any date of my choice.I just hope they wouldnt decline the new date.Am happy that i told the truth even though it gave me away but it is all good.

Yeah, Ladydare, everything will be alright cos we have all the necessary documents. We will mail them soon.

Had a good time with the Asian Lady unfortunately she didnt give me the visa simply because my wife has a new job, she asked us to get a new Form I-864,Form I-134 that we can then mail the embassy for a new appointment that is convenient for us.That is it my people, we are still praying. Thanks for your prayers.

So happy for u guys, all the best.Mine is coming on tomorrow so I need ur prayers as well.

Thanks M2MarryN',My only concern has to do with the Lagos consulate cos they seems to be a lot particular about the call records so its good that one is fully armed with everything, one of our colleagues here was denied last week simply because they dont have call records.I know that God is in control and as such we will be fine.I have been reading through all the reviews as well.

Tero and Patient2010,I am very grateful for your constructive comments.

Thanks a lot Canadian_wife,We will..Still need people that went through without all the call records to comment from. Thanks

Hello Everyone!!!
Our interview is coming on in December unfortunately we do not have all the call records most especially in the beginning of our relationship since we were using calling cards because it was the cheapest means as at then although we have considerable amount of the call records but the first few months are missing which has us worried since we are up against a very tough consulate and to make the matter worst, call records seems to be an issue with the consulate, we have tried all we could to get the records but no luck. However, we have all the emails from the day one till date, 10 of her family members came to Nigeria for the wedding, post cards from both parties, Western union receipts from me{The Husband} to her in which I went to Togo couple of times to do the wires since one could only receive in Nigeria and finally hers to me,emails from family and friends from the moment our relationship assumed a better shape, wedding website in which a lot of people signed on, foreign trips together,we went as Far as Japan with the exception of USA,to our understanding, we have everything but we are cautious cos of the call records. We need your help at this Juncture on what to do, we are so much in love and as such there is nothing fictitious about us.God bless you all!!!!!

Am so sorry,u have no idea of how sad am now over this development but it is well in Jesus name.I will inbox u later
-
I suggest you try Nigerian embassy in cyprus for a replacement cos he cant even travel out of cyprus without the passport. The school should be able to assist him in securing a new one.Am so sorry.
-
my thoughts to you is to try as much as you can to avoid unnecessary red flags since you never can tell what is on the mind of CO.We are all on here to share and learn from other people's experiences,Atimes our over preparation may further plunge us into crisis.I suggest you do your home work very and take a clue from other suggestions already made by members. No need to show the engagement party pics in my own view since you appear to have more than enough evidences already, what I think you need now is the grace of God and self-confidence at the embassy cos extreme nervousness may atimes give people away.Lastly,I suggest you know what you are doing about the wedding date you already set so that you dont give yourself away cos I have some reservation about the date,am not an immigration lawyer but am always willing to learn from others.Just make sure you are able to defend the wedding plan.Above all,you will get the visa in Jesus name(Amen).
