  1. Happy to help. I was in a similar situation 3 years ago, the only difference is that I had my Ghana resident permit. I am originally from Nigeria but went to the University in Ghana and as a matter of fact I had my wedding there. My interview was initially suppose to be done in Ghana but had it transferred later to Lagos cos of the backlog in Accra back then. It is good that you are still at the NVC stage which means you wont waste so much time like I did. Email NVC with your info and husband info immediately.Basically what is required of you is your Husband's international passport copy (Biography page) just to ascertain his Nigeria citizenship. Simply tell them that you want the case transferred to his country of birth, no hassle. He doesnt require any visa to stay in Ghana as a Nigerian courtesy of Ecowas treaty but he will require a Resident Permit to do any Legal stuff in Ghana such as Schooling, Banking, Embassy interviews, Working. If he is not working or schooling in Ghana it will be almost impossible to get a resident permit in Ghana. Note: I have this information first hand having lived in Ghana for 6 years. He should avoid the stress and go over to Nigeria to have his interview done. Should you need more information, dont fail to email me and I will be glad to help. Best of luck.

  2. I am so touched by your plights. Your Ex situation shouldnt be much of a big deal provided that you got married to your now husband after the divorced was finalized. Still a red flag though but it can be easily overcome with enough evidence. Previous non immigrant visa denials is also not a problem but the problem is material misrepresentations, this is something the Homeland department doesnt joke or toy with, it is like dancing with the devil in HELL! You will need a divine intervention to come out of this. You are dealing with one of the most difficult consulates in the world but I sincerely believe that there is nothing impossible unto God. He needs to be completely honest at this point and hope for the best in their final decision. I once applied for a visitor's visa as well but was denied and to make the matter worse I was assigned the famous Asia Lady back then. She asked about my previous visa denial and I was completely honest about that but I realized she kept looking at the computer obviously trying to match up my answers and looking for a slip up but at last I came out on top because I said nothing but the truth. It is sad that our past mistakes could be an impediment to our future sometimes. I will keep you in my prayers. Lastly, the age difference is nothing as long as you are still within the child bearing age since that is very important in our culture. My wife is 8 years older and we have our baby and I wasnt even questioned about that during the interview.

  3. K3 has since 2010 metamorphosed into CR1 and IRl, it has been administratively closed. CR1 is for couple married for less than 2 years which means there is a condition on the card that must be lifted 90 days before it expires. IR1- Immediate Relative 1: This is for the people who has been married for over 2 years, a 10 year green card is issued to the person without a condition. I have got to run now but that is basically it. Read more on them on here.

  4. What the doctor said could be true since things are done differently from consulate to consulate. Try contact a member named "Kissjo" her now hubby went through the same embassy. Good luck on your interview.

  5. Amantel is good and very cheap. $5 will give you 102 worth of minutes to call any phone number in Nigeria, No extra charge, hidden fee or connection fee. It gives a year worth of call history as in, you can go back up to a year. Pingo is also good, less minutes ($5 = 59minutes) but crystal clear connection.

  6. He cannot interview in Sydney as he's an Indian citizen holding an Indian passport.

The above statement is wrong! I suggest you get your facts together before leading people astray. He can have his interview done in Sydney as long as he is a legal to live in Australia. If his visa (Australia)is still valid at the time of the interview he will surely be fine. There is no law prohibiting anyone living in another country from having his or her visa interview done outside the person home country. A couple of my friends on here have been through the same process and they were fine. The key thing here is to have a valid visa at the time of the interview and I sincerely believe that OP will be fine since he has a student visa.

  7. Happy to help. I presumed you are between NOA1 and NOA2 in your visa journey. My advice is to email NVC the moment they receive your case from USCIS at the Approval of your petition. If you were able to resolve your UK visa before then there is no need cos as a Legal Resident of UK you are allowed to have your interview done but not when you are out of status. So if your visa issue is still the same by the time the NVC receives your file then email them immediately and let them know your intention of having your file transferred to Lagos. If you are able to do this early then it will save you time. It is no big deal to have your interview done in the UK as long as your visa is still valid, I went through this before even though not in the UK and I was fine. A member named "Omeka" is currently going through a similar situation and he also resides in the UK so you may want to contact him as well. Stay blessed and all will be well.

  8. I posted this in your other tread but you obviously didnt read it. I suggest you calm down and also stick to one tread. I am posting it here again; If you were to be in one of the west Africa Countries perhaps it wont be a problem but in an Advanced country like UK I am pretty sure it is a No no...Unless you are heavenly favored however, there is nothing impossible with God but I wont gamble with it. I suggest you write NVC immediately to have the case transfered to Lagos consulate. The development will only set you back by 2months cos from all indications, UK Consulate is not backlogged, I once switched embassys as well.I think it is worth it than to have your visa denied. Penguin is right, Your visa needs to be current at the time of your interview...It is just good to cover any loopholes ahead of the embassy journey because the whole visa journey could be very frustrating but sweet ending. Best of Luck!

  10. I did advice you when you posted similar topic several weeks ago to contact the appropriate authorities in order to make sure that you wont need a resident permit to go to the interview since you were once a student in Nigeria.I needed one cos I was a Nigerian living in Ghana as the time but Nigeria are more flexible than Ghana about the permit thing(Ecowas Treaty) Notwithstanding, U should have at least asked long before now just to make sure that you wont need one.I only needed one in Ghana cos I was planning to travel thru Ghana but didnt need it to reside in Ghana.Oh well, U might be lucky not to need one but my token of advice is to always get things done when its necessary. All the best!

  11. Try Ghana mission abroad in Lagos for enquiry or Immigration office in Lagos.I am sure it will involve a long time process but u may be lucky to get around it.No one knows ur interview date but I am pretty sure it wont be long after ur case is completed at the NVC maximum of 3months after NVC except something serious crops up.If u arent able to get the Resident permit, I suggest u should just let it go, they might overlook it at the embassy for the fact that u are a student in the country.U may however go with ur School ID card or School Materials. All the best

  12. Ok, I just checked your TimeLine, If the information you have provided is anything to go by then you are the one unnecessarily delaying the process.NVC received your petition since April 18th, 2011 and I am pretty sure that they got back with you at most 2months later to pay some bills and send in ur civil documents. You have to be up the speed to get things over with and move on to another phase in this excruating Journey but happy ending.

  13. You do not need any court papers as long as you do not have anything up your sleeves most especially in the past.Yes, you will be interviewing in Lagos.Make sure you make the trip to Ghana to obtain ur police clearance ASAP, its around 20cedis but pay a little more to get same day delivery or next day at Sakara Police headQ in Accra.Make sure you also obtain the Right Birth Certificate in Ghana cos they seems to have a new one at the moment.Schooling in Nigeria doesnt necessarily mean u are a Legal resident unless a Resident number is assigned to you through your traveling Passport. As Long as you are a Member of Ecowas countries which you are then you are good to go.I was also a student in Ghana and was there without Legal residency(Not a Crime) until my 3 year in the university when I was about traveling to Japan before I obtained one(Its a different thing all together most especially in the advanced countries, one needs to have a student visa before being allowed into the country but as a member of Ecowas countries we do not as long as its within the region.Talking about Ghana, one is not allowed to have an interview as a foreigner without a resident permit but It may be a different thing in Lagos cos anything is possible in Lagos but it will be good you also inquire about that one.All the best. You may PM for more info.

  14. The goodnews is that Ghana is beginning to move so you may as well have your interview done there cos it may likely result to some dramas since u arent a legal resident of Nigeria. The Nigeria police Clearance is good for 1 year in the Embassy's System(Lagos) even though it says 3months on the Actual Police clearance from Lagos.I dont know how long its good for in Accra but that of Ghana doesnt have an Expiration date the last time I checked(Last year Precisely)I wish u all the best.I have provided u with the best info I have.

  15. I am willing to be of Help.Where did you get marry? If its a registered court then you shouldnt have any problem in getting the marriage certificate.Yes, you will need to get both countries police reports.I will advice you to also have your interview in Lagos due to the current backlog of immigrant visa petition interviews in Ghana.I went through the same process the only different is the verse versa of your case.I am a Nigerian but lived in Ghana for several years, I even got married in Ghana but Had a change of Embassy to my home country Nigeria due to the delays In Ghana. If u did get marry in Ghana the certified marriage certificate shouldnt be a problem, You can always request for extra copy which is exactly what I did,It is usually long and very easy to acquire at AMA(Accra MetroPolitan Assembly}Depending on where u got married. If its Kumasi it will be KMA and if its at TeMA it will be TMA etc but if u did get marry in Lagos Iam sure they will be able to provide u with the certified copy. You Can get a Copy of ur Police reports at Sankara,Police HeadQ in Accra and that of Lagos at Alagbon, Ikoyi.I hope it Helps. All the best

  16. The situation is not peculiar.I personally experienced similar incident whilst I was trying to open a bank account with my wife just a week after I got the SSN,It came back as invalid after running it through the system.I immediately called SS office and they once again confirmed the validity and that They(The Bank) should run it through the system again.3 days Later, the BAnk called me to informed me that I was good to go.So I guess it has to do with the fact that its a new SSN which is not an excuse cos I have a friend that started using his 2days after he got it without any problem but each case is peculiar.May be registering it into the general data base is the reason for the delay but there is nothing to be concerned about.I am sure your friend will be fine.He or She should try it again in a couple of days.

  17. Happy to help.He should simply give them your current address at the POE.A whole lot of things is determined at the POE, so no big deal.If the SSN didnt show up at your home address after 2weeks of his arrival, you guys should go to the nearest Social security office to apply for one.The greencard will automatically come to the address he gives at POE.I hope it helps.Best of Luck!

  18. Happy to help.Ghana cedis and US dollars are 2 different currencies so therefore, your problem is half way solved. The last time I checked, One will not be able to pick up dollars sent to Ghana via Western union in dollars it will be paid out in Ghana cedis because Ghana Government doesnt allow this.If it were to be in Nigeria that will be a different thing all together cos they pay out in US dollars.U may have to send more than 350 US dollars in order to get the equivalence in Ghana cedis since Ghana cedis has a lesser value.Unfortunately, u may have to pay something around 539 @1.54 to 1Usdollar Ghana cedis or a little less.Hope it helps. All the best

  19. Happy to Help.I am not too sure of the exact stage of your immigration Journey, Anyway,If you are yet to get to NVC stage then you will have less hassle but if you are already there but you are yet to make the payments then I have a goodnews for you.All you have to do is to mail them(NVC) letting them know of your intention of switching embassy to your proposed country, That way you will only get the country case number once and for all cos in my own case it wasnt like that cos my case was already completed at the NVC with Ghana case Number so I had it changed to Lagos case number and the process took 5weeks but it was worth the wait at the end of the day.The people that had their cases completed b4 me are still waiting for interview in Accra which is crazy! I had 2 interviews in Lagos and I have been in the States for almost 6 months.Case was originally completed on May 7th, 2010 after waiting for interview in Acrra for almost 4 months I had it switch to Lagos and Had my first interview on Dec 1,2010 in Lagos and Had the Second interview Jan 11,2011 for the missing Documents and was Approved right away.If your hubby can get Nigeria Resident permit I am sure he be will fine afterall, I was only a Legal Resident of Ghana and never a Citizen of Ghana my visa would have been approved in Ghana if not the Backlogged. However, he doesnt require a visa to visit Nigeria(Ecowas Treaty) but I guess he does require a Resident visa in order to be considered for immigration benefit in Nigeria.I am not too sure how that will play out cos since he can visit Nigeria without a visa as a member of Ecowas countries, he might be allowed to do his interview there without a permit.Note: I am not too sure about this.I schooled in Ghana so I had 2 year Resident permit which only expired this last April.Try to find out more about this topic but I can assure you that if hes able to get a visitor visa to Any of the European countries he will be able to have his interview done there.I know about the 6 months residency Requirements but I am not too sure if thats is also applicable to an Ecowas member.A vj member called "YOMs" went thru the same process and he was fine. The fiancee only had a visitors visa whilst in England and She was approved(Both Originally from Nigeria but the Yoms Guy became US naturalized citizen) You may PM him as well.God bless.

  20. As long as you have the resident permit of Country B, you should just be fine.I did changed embassys as well from Accra to Lagos as a result of the Current backlog in Accra. My immigrant interview was originally scheduled to be processed through Ghana cos I was resident in Ghana as at the time but had it changed to Lagos.Note:I am originally from Nigeria but a legal resident in Ghana. It was very easily for me to do that as a Nigeria citizen. So it can be done as long as u have the Legal resident of the country B.Good Luck!
