Me neither. NEVER heard of lifting conditions w/out FP. I plan to travel too, out of the country around the time of my FP. But guess what? If I don't have that letter in my hands, am going nowhere. Whatever it costs me to not go, let it be. I am paranoid and will never reschedule with USCIS. I don't trust them . Anyone paranoid like me?

I, too, wondered whether to file based on 3 or 5. Because I wanted to vote for Obama so bad, I decided to file based on 3 yrs. Sorry, Republicans. Plus, I travel A LOT and just wanted easy traveling to other countries without the hustle of visa etc. I moved to a different state shortly before ROC.

I guess we are all different. I don't just talk to random people, that's just who I am unless am at a conference or some gathering where I have to talk to pple!

While I was reading OP's story, I was thinking exactly like Brother Heisekel - though I wouldn't have said it myself. You need to be patient. Perhaps the no eye contact meant "get your face out of here and let me do my job". Just saying. Try to be patient... it is hard but you've done all you could - except being patient. So be patient.

If they told you to wait 90 days after the interview, if it's me I'd wait for the 90 days.

Applying for Citizenship
Guys, note - it's NOT 3 months. It is 90 days!
Your clock starts ticking from the day you are issued - yes - the CONDITIONAL Green Card.
From the date of issue of your Conditional Green Card, count three years/anniversaries. You can apply for citizenship in the 90 days preceding this 3rd anniversary.
In USCIS words:
You may file Form N-400 ninety (90) calendar days before you complete your permanent residence requirement if your eligibility for naturalization is based upon being a:
Permanent resident for at least 5 years; or
Permanent resident for at least 3 years if you are married to a US citizen.
USCIS even has a Calculator if counting is too much for you.

If you are looking for accurate information about filing, I think the USCIS website is a good place to start from, not the forum. This forum is good for clarifying things or asking for information that is not necessarily on the USCIS website.

I actually find the naturalization process for the U.S. way too lax. Seriously.
First, I would require a much higher standard of English and knowledge of the American history. What they are asking is a joke, a bad one. I am with you on this one.
Secondly, I would require anybody who is asking to become a U.S. citizen by naturalization, basically be declared "equal to a natural-born" citizen, to renounce their former citizenship, formally. Nobody is required to do so, as naturalization is purely optional and a choice. People who don't want to do that are free to live as permanent resident in the U.S. for as long as they desire. I second you!
Finally, becoming a Swiss citizen is far from just getting married. The former Chinese woman was playing a joke on you. It's easier to castrate yourself with a piece of glass off a broken beer bottle without screaming then becoming a Swiss citizen. Ha-ha!
Don't believe everything people tell you. I can tell you that I heard that you become a U.S. citizen automatically when you get married.

In terms of the forms you will fill? ROC is a breeze. Just I751 and it's quite easy. Nothing compared to AOS i.e. 485, 130, biographical data, etc etc etc.
In terms of evidence, it depends. Some pple have more evidence to send for ROC than AOS and vice versa.

So not true. You can file "joint" + Form 8379 (The Injured Spouse) and you will not be liable for his penalties. They will refund you what you deserve and post his to his penalties if at all he deserves any. Form 8379 explains all that. I do it all the time I file our joint taxes.
