  1. Show them some proof that you have a physical address (if not, then you need to sign a lease with a family member) and show a copy of your drivers licence or some ties to a physical address in the USA or intent (aka, a lease) to prove intent to domicile in the USA...

Look up the word proof of domicile in the search function and they have a lot of topics on things that can help to prove this...

Looked up proof of domicile--got some ideas! thanks!

I'm really pissed at school for not sending the letter!!

And I'm really not willing to wait several weeks for them to do it, although it's good evidence.

since i don't have the letter i was thinking of showing my FAFSA (federal aid for college students) form with my US address...Is that a good idea or no since I (the petitioner, NOT beneficiary) am requesting financial aid from the gov. for college???)

I also thought about attaching a non-official transcript or something with my address on it, but feel like it won't do much good if it isn't official-looking/certified/signed by a school official.

I've also also decided I'm going to send:

    ·voter's record

    ·bank statement

    ·credit card bill

    ......

    ????????????

P.S. ####### the Invoice Payment Center still isn't working!!!

  2. hey guys,

after making a big deal about sending this off, we weren't able to today!

before i forget, has anyone else been having trouble logging onto the NVC payment site? It keeps saying application undergoing maintenance but it's now been around 10 hours!

    so, i'm looking over everything.

i have lived in argentina for the past 4 years, I wrote that it is my country of domicile on I-864, because it is.

apart from explaining my family and school ties, i attached my voting record. i have been on sabbatical for the past 3 years. (i know, hippy artists. at my school you can take up to 5.) technically i am enrolled, but before semester starts i have to call school and re-instate myself.

i called to request letter of verification of enrollment about a month ago and never received it! (i was counting on this for proof!) called school and they didn't know what was going on. i don't want to wait so i don't think i'm going to include it.

is this a big deal? should i just send voting record? should i include checking account statements that show i have a US bank account? (note: all of my family, aside from husband and pup live in the US, i'm pretty "tied" to the US.)

    thanks!!

  3. Hey guys!

DS230, Q#32, Employment for past 10 years: should we just write the town/city (location) or actual physical address?

AND Q#33, Educational Institutions: I've read some say they just write high school and college and others say it's best to write starting from pre-school/kinder.

    Which is best?

When it says degree or diploma, what should I write? Graduated/not graduated? Because right before this it asks to state course of study...am confused.

Yes, super #######...just want to make sure everything is right!

    thanks..

  4. hmmmm.

go to other computer, perhaps at a library, try there?

somethings wonky, imo, on YOUR computer.

    ...several days later...

I finally was able to get the barcode sheet!!!!!!

Called NVC and told them what was going on. (I had tried several different computers and none worked!)

The operator said I wasn't the only person that had called in that day with that problem AND she was SUPER NICE!

    I couldn't believe it!

Sending off I-864 tomorrow. One last question, do I send 2 photos or 4? (2 are sent and 2 are kept for the medical?)

    gracias!

  5. When I was 21, I could barely support myself (I became the queen of ramen noodle cuisine during my last years of undergrad), let alone another person. Does the daughter have the financial resources to satisfy the sponsor requirements and then the few thousand it will take to process the application? If she does, more power to her. If not, seems to me that the problem solves itself.

good point....if she can't meet the financial standards (125% above poverty line) then she will need a joint sponsor and if she can't get one then....well...no dice.

i agree too, 21 year old girls/women are just reaching the point of being a woman and leaving girlhood. (do you guys remember that cheesy britney spears song? i do, feel free to make fun of me.) your daughter just reached the age where she can legally drink and enter bars, clubs, etc. she is going to want to do what she wants.

  6. Oh No,.

Maybe you have a 'plug in' problem with yer web browser? Let's assume thats the case, for the nonce.

Instead of 'viewing' the file in the browser via an adobe plug in -

you can also download the file. Right Click the link, should be some option for 'download' or 'save' or 'save as' (I don't use IE, so can't walk you through any of the steps) But - save it to yer hard disk.

Then - open it (from yer hard disk) using foxit acrobat reader, then print it.

get foxit from here - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/

    I don't like Adobe these days - it's too 'all encompassing' .

    NOOOOO!!

I did all and it still doesn't work. Am going to try for a bit more and then look for a # to call and ask for help.

  7. The Document Cover Sheet should have a barcode on it. Use that barcode instead of the one you made from following LingChe or James's instructions.

    Fellow VJers, confirm...

Of course I should have opened it before asking.

I see the barcode, but it's weird...

It only shows like a 1-4 of the page. It's all distorted to one side. Am going to change computers with a more updated version of Adobe and if that doesn't work who should I call? NVC?

  8. Hi guys,

How's it going? I am rested, relaxed, and ready to continue finishing my I-864!!!

Thanks to all those who helped me chill last night.

Today my AOS fee shows as PAID so I am getting ready to send everything in.

(The DS3032 has also been processed so I just paid the IV fee too! Yay!)

I have read about generating the barcode for the I-864.

    My question is this:

Do I send in the receipt plus the barcode I generate with the instructions on Lingche??

Just the receipt from the gov website?

Do I attach the barcode to the receipt?? Actually pasted on a specific part, stapled??

And I'd like to ask these questions for the DS-230.

    THANKS A LOT!!!!!

  9. If you file for a spouse visa, they have to FIRST be your spouse... only then can you start the paperwork... and from there it is about 6 - 9 months... If you file for a fiance visa now(k1), you might be able to have them come here, as someone suggested, have a quiet civil "official" ceremony here, then go have a big formal wedding in your spouse's country as generally, it is about 4-6 months... but you would be cutting it very close...

Read up on the guide here as there is LOTS of info... you can type in keywords at the top and see some situations similar to yours...

I might add that if you get married over there, he would not be able to come over and live with you immedialty... the process is between 5 - 9 months generally before he could join you here...

    This is what we did...

Small civil wedding here in Argentina and then we began paperwork for the IR-1/CR-1 visa (immediate relative visa--spouse). All of my spouse's family came--very small, but with a nice little luncheon and cocktail party afterward.

When we get to the US we will have our traditional Navajo wedding where my family will be (and a few of his family members will go, too).

Even though it'd be nice to go through with your plans, you'd have to wait a while like already said.

AND then you have to worry about another process of adjusting status, paying more money, blah blah blah.

And once you're married you know you're legally together with the person you love.

  10. I agree with darnell... take a break, so something different and go back to it or you will make errors and get comfused... clear your head...

Then; The 864 is the package from the USC... it includes an original 864 form signed by you... and copies of your financial documents (copies are OK)

The 230 is the info fro the foreign spouse... these need to be original forms and documents from the issuing authority...

Write the case # on EACH piece of paper you turn into them... Then... I recommend you send the package PLUS one photocopy of the package to NVC... ANd I made 2 other sets of complete paperwork so I had one and my husband had one... Same goes for the 230...1 full set of original documents and one full set photocopy (so you can get your original documents back)... plus 2 sets for you and spouse...

    Thanks Christeen!

  11. hei!

    DS-230 - original plus a photocopy.

if 'the original' is not available - a CERTIFIED PHOTOCOPY is acceptable - but - the certification must be from the original issuing authority.

    here's the Gospel -

Hang Loose, you... Unless yer in Hawaii - you've missed the time for the postal drop for today anyway.. Relax.

Relax some more. Need something to do that's not 'this' paperwork related?

Take photos of yer accordian collator device, post it in yer gallery here .

    hahaha..

took your advice, sat down and drew a bit and then listened to the rain and cuddled with my pup.

    trying to chill. chill. chiiiillll...

think i'll relax for the rest of the night and continue puppy-cuddling.

    thanks for todo.

  12. I-864?

I think you got the 'original documents requirement' confused between the I-864 and the DS-230.

There's a stringent requirement on the DS-230 for

    --original documents plus

    --one photocopy

    here's the 'official' I-864 checklist -

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3200.html

    darnell,

please do NOT kill me. seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY--ORIGINAL PLUS PHOTOCOPY for DS-230 or PHOTOCOPIES FOR EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT?

my excuse for asking tons of ridiculous things and making mistakes...

working on gallery show and visa sh. simultaneously.

not a good excuse, i know.
