  1. Hi Everyone. My husband had his interview on September 10th, 2012 at the US Consulate in Tirana, Albania. After reviewing all his paperwork (all updated) the officer had asked him the following questions:

1- How long have you been married?

2- How many times has your wife traveled to Albania during this time?

3- Where were your children born? (We have two daughters together, both born in USA)

4- What does your wife do for a living in USA?

My husband had worked in Greece for 5 years prior to our marriage and they wanted the police certificate from Greece, which my husband had provided (by obtaining it in person from Greece), but apparently the US Embassy wanted him to apply for it through the Greek Embassy in Albania and then the Greek Embassy had to forward it to the US Embassy. That process lasted 3 weeks. The US Embassy called my husband this morning to tell him that his visa was approved and that he needs to send his passport in to receive the visa. We are extremely happy right now :dance::dance:

Thank you so much to everyone here for all of your support. Good luck to you on your journey waiting to be reunited with your loved ones. I know it is a long, painful and stresful journey, but in the end....IT IS ALL WORTH IT :)

Omg so happyyyy, congrats ,....so happy for you ! Enjoy life together now ;)

  2. Hi Nela,

Thank you very much for the reply and my mom is waiting for call or letter from US consult.

Any luck?my brother came in the states on the 25 of September . Best wishes

  3. I've got no response for my previous question, but the best answer I could find is below:

What does the sponsor do when he/she was not required by law to file an income tax return during a given year?

If you did not have to file a tax return, attach a written explanation and a copy of the instructions from the IRS publication showing you were not obliged to file. For general information on income tax obligations, visit the IRS website.

    thank you

  4. He does not have to go to Greece. He applied at the Greek Embassy in Tirana as soon as he was done with the interview and they said that is usually takes a couple of weeks. What can I say, once again we just have to wait and see....Yes please update me about your case. Ishallah nuk keni per te pritur edhe shume.

so finally good news :D. my brother was called by the embassy to mail his passport and they will issue the visa . he did mailed his passporttoday with wester union , so hopefully doesnt take long for them to procedd. Im so happy. Good luck to you and ur fam, bashkim sa me te shpejte. update us on ur case then.

  5. My husband did not get the visa today. They needed a police certificate from Greece, which my husband did have, but it had to come directly from the Greek Embassy. They have not explained that anywhere. If we knew we had to apply at the Greek Embassy we could have done that in advance. Oh well, that will take about 2 weeks they said. Let's see what happens. We are very disappointed :(

they are such a pain, ughhhh sa te kqij jane vetem te nxjerrrin pune e shtojne kohen me shum :(. try to get the paper as soon as you can. Does he need to go in Greece to get it , or just embassy need to send to TR ? My goodness ishalla bashkim sa me te shpejte. I will update u on my case.

  6. Hey nela, I was wondering if your brother completed the DNA test and if he is in the US now. My husband has his interview this coming Monday, September 10th ----getting very nervous---we do not know what to expect----we think we have everything they can possibly ask for unless they ask for the DNA Paternity test for our two children. That can delay things a bit. Oh well...what are we supposed to do. I am just praying that things go smoothly :) I really hope your brother's process is now complete. Please let me know. Gjithe te mirat :)

Hey hun I'm sorry didn't check the forum in a while, so now we are in process of getting the result to embassy in TR I really hope goes fast. Make sure he gets photos when the kids were babiess ,it's very important to get as many as he have ,like you with kids him ect. We didnt know but when my brother went there they asked if he had pics with my mom so he didn't have them and they asked him they needed strong proof of relationship which was DNA test or pics ect. I really wish him best of luck. I hope they don't request DNA its just pain in the butt plus expensive $790 cost it for us ;(, please let me know Monday. Oh the consular didn't pay attention to i864 or i864a ,most important was the proof of relationship . Keep me posted,

  7. DNA - how to speed up the process

Our DNA test timeline: 7 weeks from the interview date

    6/06/2012 - Interview Date

6/06/2012 - Interview; Result: need DNA Test

6/6/2012 - Ordered and Paid DNA Kit - I chatted my husband through Skype,I scanned the 221g document requesting DNA test that I got from the US Embassy and sent it to my husband in his email. Then my husband go to the US embassy Manila website and there are list of AABB Accredited Relationship (DNA) Testing Facilities in the US,we choose the AABB Accredited closer to our place. He provided them our MNL case number, my name and my daughter's name, our birthday and he emailed them the documents requesting a DNA test.

    6/11/2012 - DNA Kit arrived.

6/15/2012 - Paid St Lukes (PHP 1,500) for the DNA sample collection

6/27/2012 - DNA samples collection for me and my daughter at the US Embassy

7/03/2012 - US Embassy got the DNA result (the same day that my husband got the 221g letter requesting DNA test though snail mail from the US Embassy) I'm glad we did not waited for that mail and we save 27 days.

7/11/2012 - My husband called the US Embassy and they said that our case was forwarded to the CO for the final review.

    7/25/2012 - Visa approved

    7/27/2012 - Visa delivered

They just do the DNA sample collection in US Embassy Manila every Wednesday and I've noticed that they forwarded our case to the CO at 7/11/2012 Wednesday and 7/25/2012 Wednesday - Visa approved

  10. Thanks so much for sharing. My mother petition my brother and today was his interview day, they requested DNA test. I'm just Worried it will take some time. I'm in NY so we went today with my mom and paid for dnat test kit and paid $790(;( ). I'm gonna share the experience to so we can help other people. I had another post about this some ppl say it last sometime upto 3 months . I really hope lasts less. ;(

  11. Hello Guys,

My brother's interview is on August 3 , and im preparing his paperwork for him on the day of interview. NVC requested only recent taxes on the interview but i thought mind as well to fill a new I864( sponsor which is my mom who is sponsoring him mon) also me as co-sponsor i864A ( i am her daughter). The question is on form I 864 Part2.

    13. I THE SPONSOR, _________________________( IT SAYS PRINT NAME)

in consideration of the household member's promise to support the following intending immigrant(s)

and to be jointly and severally liable for any obligations I incur under the affidavit of support, promise

to complete and file an affidavit of support on behalf of the following_____________(indicate name it says to put) named intending

    immigrant(s) (see Step-by-Step instructions).

i DONNO WHICH NAME HAS TO BE THERE MY NAME OR mY MOM'S NAME ( SPONSOR) . I assume will be mom's name on part 2 and also what number im supposwd to put where it says indicate the number.

    Thanks in Advance

  12. Don't worry about the originally filed I 864. They should get it from NVC, but anyway they are more interested in the actual financial situation of sponsor and co sponsor, so fill out a new one and yes both you and your mom has to sign it. They do not accept copies or scaned forms. I sent it to my husband by mail. To tell you the truth, I have heard that the Albanian consulate is very strict when it comes to updated documents and they have turned people down and made them come back if they do not have documents issued within 12 months. My husband is getting all the required documents all over again,(birth certificate, deshmi penaliteti, certifikate nga prokuroria e gjykata, etc.) JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. It is better to have more than they ask for than not enough. I uroj vellait tend good luck. Mos e ki problem me pyet sa te duash :)

thank you sweet heart, i will do the same, best of luck

  13. They are only asking for the last tax returns, but I would be safe and have another I 864 just in case they ask for it esecially if the financial situation of the sponsor has changed. They have asked for it sometimes on the day of the interview and your brother should have as much as possible with him so that they do not make him go back a second time.

oh i see thank you, so im just gonna fill another I864 and since im gonna be co-sponser for my mom i have to sign it too right? me fal se po pyes shum lol do you think they need the original I864 in case.... should i mail to them back home or Email so they can print it . thakn so much dhe mos u merzit hold on to it for another month but hopefully you hear a good news by the end of the week
