  1. I've read that the translation should reproduce the original document template and if there's an stamp, the translator should translate whatever is written in the stamp. On the other hand, USCIS doesn't require the birth certificate to be translated for a certified translator, it can be someone fluent in both languages but if the grammar of the translation is very bad it can be rejected and maybe that's the reason why. Just tell your translator to be faithful to the design of the birth certificate and make sure is someone who is truly fluent in both languages to the point of doing a good translation.

    Best wishes! :)

  2. Hello everybody!

I have a couple of questions about the form I-864 and one with the birth certificate translation.

    1. My husband is unemployed since December 1st. Now 2011 started and we are about to send my AOS. The question is: in CURRENT ANNUAL INCOME does he have to write 0.00?

    2. He hasn't done the taxes return for 2010 since IRS hasn't send him out the documents yet so the question is: does he have to provide his taxes info for 2007-2008-2009?

    ABOUT THE TRANSLATION

I have had someone fluent in both languages (spanish and english) translating my birth certificate so the question is: do i have to send to AOS the certified copy of my birth certificate and the original translation OR a photocopy from the certified copy and the original translation?

Thank you everybody for your help!

    God bless :)

  3. Well, this officer didn't reject to do the SSN card in the married name. She just told me that it may be longer due to the name change. So I guess and hope that she just sent to immigration my I-94 and K1 which she photocopied together with my SS5 information where i specified the name that i wanted to be in my SSN card (married) and another names used (maiden) so they will be able to find me in the system...I guess that will be a matter of waiting if she did her job.

  4. Hello everybody!!!

I came to USA under a K1 visa on october 29th. We decided that I would apply for SSN after getting married and have the marriage certificate so I apply straight changing my name. Ok, we couldn't get married till December 17th and just today (January 3rd we got our marriage certificate). We went right away to the SSN office and the woman in there made me the short interview questions (if i filed for taxes, if i applied for food stamps, if i applied for work in USA...). Then she made photocopies of my passport bio, K1 and I-94. At first she didn't want to give me an SSN because she said that my I-94 would expire IN A COUPLE OF DAYS (it expires on january 27 thus in 24 days). Ok, then she said that she would send all my papers to immigration for them to verify them and if my SSN application isn't denied I would have my SSN card in 4 weeks.

I asked her if it was any way to know the number before the card is issued and she said NO.

    So my question is:

Can we go ahead with AOS if I can't write my SSN on the forms due to I don't know it yet?

I'm applying for EAD within AOS...does affect to the application that I don't know yet the SSN?

Thank you everybody and happy new year!

    God bless :)

  5. Hello everybody!

My husband and I are going to start with my AOS. For now we are not planning (or at least i have my EAD and start working) a joint account since I'm practically broke. We are living at his parents place and will be like that for 1 or 2 years more since his parents have a big house and his dad is currently unemployed so my husband's brother and his wife moved in as well in order to help.

I guess by the time of the interview we can't give a lease together because we will be living at his parents. Should we open a joint account to prove that our marriage is legitimate? what else could we present as a prove?

    Thank you

    God bless

  6. Hello everybody!!!

I came over USA under a K1 visa and now we are about to go for the AOS.

My husband got recently laid off from his job and now he's unemployed. He did the affidavit of support for my K1 visa and now we need a joint sponsor.

His brother is going to do it but do we need to put in the AOS two I-864 forms? One from my husband (since he's the main sponsor) and another from his brother (the joint sponsor)? Or just his brother's?

    Thank you for the information

    God bless

  7. Hello everybody!

I had my medical done in Spain on August 2010. Now I'm about to go for the AOS and I need my vaccine history to be transcribed.

There's this one doctor who says that she HAS TO do the TB skin test to me plus transcribe my vaccine history = 65 usd (if it's complete)

My question is the following: I remember I had in the medical the chest X-Ray as TB test. Do I really NEED to have the skin test done?

Thank you and hopefully you are having a great holidays!

    God bless :)

  8. Hello everybody!!!

I moved to USA last october 29th and my fiance and I are getting married December 17th. The thing is that today his job let him go (not fired but jobless) so he doesn't have a job now... He will get payed some for that though but what should we do in the AOS? Do we need a cosponsor? I am applying as well for the EAD within the AOS so if he didn't find a job by the time I could start working I would be able to find 1,2 or 3 jobs...

Someone that went through the same situation or can help us with some information?

Thank you in advance. God bless!

  9. Do not sweat over the questions on the SS-5, the form is not needed. They will enter everything into the computer based on the evidence you provide and the questions they ask. They should give you a printout of what they have entered to review.

The only time the SS-5 is required is when an application is mailed in or taken into the office by someone other than the applicant. If you take an SS-5 when you apply they might copy some of they info off it, but it's going in the trash when they are done.

Oh good! Yup better like that then :) Thank youuuu

  10. You are correct you have to wait for your EAD to legally work, but when filling out the SSN application you need to check the box that you are able to work even if you have not applied for AOS. There are some types of visa's that you are never allowed to work, but need a SSN for other things than work, that is the case where you would select the not able to work. I think with the K-1 it is implied that you will be adjusting status and will legally be able to work at some point. When you receive your first card there will be a note on it "not valid for employment without DHS authorization" (not sure if that is the exact wording). Once you get your EAD or GC you can go into the SSN office and get a new card with that notation removed.

Oooh, ok i see. Thank you for that, I didn't read nothing regarding it :). I will keep it in mind! thank you again

  11. You can also go to the SSN office to apply for the card (after 2 weeks). Make sure when applying that you answer question #5 that you are a "legal alien ALLOWED to work" or else you may not get a card. You can go back into the office the next day and they will tell you what your number will be, so if you do need a SSN, you will at least have the number.

Hiiii:) Thank you for your reply. But I'm not allowed to work till I receive my EAD right? So if the SSN comes before the AOS i guess i will have to reply no to that question.

    Thank you again

Thank you everybody for your replies so far. I will investigate if SSN is needed in Ohio in order to get married though

  12. Yes, I do want to change it. I've just read some stories of ppl having trouble during AOS because of it etc but I guess it's because they already had EAD's or applied for everything with the maiden name. Good to know there's a gap pointing out the previous name, I guess like this there's no problem with the prior paperwork done in maiden name.

Thank you for your reply and the explanation about greencard and passport.

    :)
