I will be leaving on an overseas trip tomorrow for a couple of months, time to relax on the beach in Thailand and Bali. I have no confidence that I will get approved in time, although one never knows. I am just naturally pessimistic. Would someone please be good enough to remind me of the procedure I need to follow, if nothing has happened after waiting 6 months? Thanks, I appreciate your help!
I'm in the same boat with travel plans. My question is - what happens if it's denied while I'm abroad?

Generally, your filing window is the 90 days preceding the expiration date of your conditional green card. Don't file any earlier than that window - they'll send it back.

Hi, I wanted to ask a question if someone can please help. If the persons passport has expired along with their country's ID card, must these be renewed before sending and filing I-751, or can copies of expired ones be accepted? Thanks!
Copies of your passport are NOT part of a I-751 package. Whether your consulate will accept the NOA1 to renew your passport, is a separate matter.

Well, the best advice I can give is to relax, and don't worry about it. As long as you have your NOA1, from USCIS's viewpoint you are covered in case it takes them up to a year to process. Obviously, you need to stay vigilent, which you are doing. But now that you have done your biometrics, there is really not much more that you can can do to push them until 6 months after your NOA1 date...
Very true. At least waiting longer means being closer to the 6-month mark where I can check in with them. Thank you for pointing out the silver lining.
PS: I'm not using the NOA1; my actual card expires later than the extension letter does.

I think CSC is doing the same thing with May filer approvals that VSC did with late May filer biometrics appointment letters. The are processing them in a random order. I think when they have a hiccup of sorts, and groups of applications get skipped, they do not go back and do them, they basically add them to the end of the queue once again.
Yes, it makes me wish I had waited with ROC until July or August. Speaking of biometrics, I didn't even get my letter until August filers began getting their bio letters. I did my bio 3.5 months after my NOA1.
I just want this all to end.

Congratulations, bszoom42 - I'm happy to hear you're all done!
It's looking quite bleak for CSC May people. And then it just really ticks me off seeing people from July (and now even August!) approved, and then other summer-filers complaining and whining why they haven't been approved yet! Seriously, there's two months' worth of unapproved CSC cases still ahead of you summer filers, so shut up. I am so sick and tired of this whole thing.

Anyone have any idea why removal of conditions would result in an OS155A status on the online tool?

Just Google it:
"OS155a is an "Immigrant Visa packet". This is given to those people whose green card was approved in a consular processing abroad. They do not get a physical green card straight away while they are abroad. They receive a stamp in the passport to enter the country and form OS155a to apply for a physical GC right at the port of entry when they enter US. CBP stamps it at the border and submits it to USCIS service center for the issuance of the actual GC. I have no idea what this has to do with your case. I have 2 hypotheses. First, this may be a message for a different person which was mailed to you instead by some weird twist of USCIS software. Second, this may be the actual approval of your I-485 in which AO or some service center clerk made a mistake while filing the "application type" field in the card production order by selecting "OS-155A" instead of "I-485" from a pulldown menu. I would even think that the second guess is more likely than the first one because it involves a human error which is more likely than a computer one."

yea but i filed may 2009 my friend since then i had second interview and still waiting!!!!any advise???
I'm sorry to hear that. You have several options listed in the order from least to most effective:
1- Call the NSCS to get an update (it's the USCIS phone number shown on your NOA1)
2- Make an Infopass appointment on the USCIS site
3- Have your congressman file an inquiry

Exactly 3 months from my NOA1 (and two service requests later) I finally received the biometrics letter today. Haven't had any touches online since May 24, but at least the bio letter indicates SOME progress.
I'm not sure if I should try for early biometrics or not; I was denied an early bio during AOS and it's quite a long drive. Thoughts?

Instructions: If more than 30 days have elapsed since your NOA1 date and you have not received your biometrics appointment letter, you can call the NCSC (their number is on your NOA1) and put in service request to the service center which you filed (CSC or VSC) to find out the status of the biometrics appointment letter. Make sure to verify the home address and mailing address (if any) with them on the phone. You can also request to speak to an immigration officer (you may have to ask at least twice to be transferred) to get your CR I-89 receipt number, (it is the receipt number of the biometrics letter) so that you can track your case online.

I keep reading on the forum where some folks mention that their app has been touched? I was wondering how do you get to know that? Is it based upon the last updated date that you see online on "My Case Status" page or do you actually receive an email saying that "Your case has been TOUCHED".

Yep, a "touch" is seen by the last-updated-date, also called LUD. My LUD is still a date in May, which means I haven't had a touch since then.

That is so nice of you, thank you for the good thoughts, Okalian! Perhaps the issue with my mission bio appointment will turn out to be that they're not requiring them (since the last ones were less than 15 months ago) and that I'll get their decision soon. That would be neat. Thanks again. :-)

Yes, being the only non-divorce waiver in our group here does make you feel a bit lonely. But I'd rather have everyone get divorced than widowed.

filed i 751 on may 19th,2010 and recieved NOA(one year extension) on may 28th,2010. still no letter for biometrics and neither case is showing online.
is this normal or we should be concerned???
You're not the only one, look here:

You can call them and file a service request, sometimes that gets the bio letter going.

You can also request to speak to an immigration officer (you may have to ask at least twice to be transferred) to get your CR I-89 receipt number, (it is the receipt number of the biometrics letter) so that you can track your case online.

I just got an email saying "Biometrics appointment has been requested on July xx 2010; however, no schedule is available as of this date. When a schedule becomes available, an ASC appointment notice will be mailed to your address on file."
Are they saying there's a backlog now?

My last touch was on July 10th, but I don't believe it was related to any service request activity.
Heh, I emailed them about my service request from July 2 (which was confirmed by a mailed letter to me) and they told me today, "Thank you for your inquiry. USCIS electronic records don’t indicate that a service request was made through the National Customer Service Center. Please contact the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 so that they can forward your service request for processing. Thank you very much."

You do need a copy of the card to file for ROC. However, if you do not currently have a card, I've been told they accept a copy of the USCIS receipt letter that says you applied for a replacement. So no, you won't get around filing the I-90 for the replacement card first. (And the extra $310.)
