I just got the approval letter and the card in the mail a few minutes ago. My total wait time was just over seven months and the service request seems to have prompted the approval.
I am glad I will no longer be reminded of my spouse's death by this whole process. Good luck to the other May filers still waiting.

Hi guys,
I called the NCSC and put in a service request a couple of weeks ago based on being outside processing times (I filed 7 months ago). The lady confirmed I was outside processing times and said I'd hear back. Well, I heard back today....but they must have entered the wrong type of service request (non-receipt of card???). Also, my online status still says pending. I am SO confused now! Any advice?
Type of service requested: -- Non-Delivery of Permanent Resident Card (not the reason for which the lady filed the SR)
The status of this service request is: Recently, you called to inform us that you never received your Permanent Resident Card.
On December 23, 2010, your Permanent Resident Card was generated and we mailed it to the address we had on record. (online status still shows pending)
I don't dare hope this means I can put this process behind me.

I doubt it. Many people have taken that route and several have heard something back either through the congressman's office or USCIS. It is worth a shot especially that you've been waiting this long.
Good to know. Thank you for your help. I was able to finally do a service request yesterday based on it being outside processing times - and once I get a (probably useless) reply to that, I'll have the congressman check up on things.

I would attempt the congressman path first. See what they can find out... they will take time but they might be able to get some additional information for you.
A helpful tip. Thank you for your input, v333k. Do you think it would make them look at the application in a more negative way?
Also if anyone can weigh in on the I-360 alternative I'd really appreciate it.

Well, you're not denied or out of status at this point so I wouldn't know if Ombudsman or Congressman would be very helpfull at this point. Infopass might be the best way to go even though it's far.
Actually, both offer to make written inquiries if your case is beyond posted processing times.

I seem to be the only CSC May filer still waiting. I'm passing the 7 month mark - over a month outside the posted processing times - and I am beginning to wonder what might be wrong. There has not been a touch on my case since biometrics.
I've called a few times and have gotten replies like "we're processing cases filed 2 days before yours" and "can do a service request because my computer is down" etc. while speaking to reps and officer level. They clearly don't want to do a service request. InfoPass is too far. I have emailed the service center as per instructions from the USCIS website, but haven't had a response either. So while thinking about what I can do to get this over with, I've come up with a few of questions...
I've read that you can make inquiries with the USCIS Ombudsman's office and/or the local congressman.
- Does anyone know which is more effective?
- Will an inquiry by either of those just tick officers off and put a bad light on my case?
- Are there any other things we can do to find out what's going on?
Filing for citizenship to force adjudication of the ROC is not an option (I can't do the three-year thing - I filed based on death of spouse). I was informed that under a certain memo, I'm not even considered a waiver filer like divorce cases, but that I'm merely exempt from joint filing based on my spouse's death. The memo clarified that that's not like a divorce waiver, so it shouldn't take longer to process than any other joint applications. (Yet here I am waiting seven months...) Well, in case my ROC is denied, could I file the I-360 as a widow afterwards?

Nothing new to report here. Tired of calling and getting excuses...maybe I'll have my congressman inquire after the holidays.

Today is my 100-days-since-NOA1 anniversary. Slowly but evidently I am starting to worry if CSC stopped further processing ....
I just passed 200 days so you're definitely in good shape. Would be nice to see more activity from CSC.

Since you were out of time frame. you should call them to check on yours.
I have - four times in the past couple of weeks. When they try to put a service request in, they keep saying CSC is processing applications from May 16 - so they won't put a service request in because I filed a few days after that. "Call back in two weeks" has been their standard reply.

Trust me, we can't believe it ourselves. Before we boarded our flight in Bali this morning, the website still displayed the "usual" activity with last activity July 14. But California is 16 hours behind time wise, so it must just have happened at closing of work on their Wednesday. In any case, we are elated and shall have some Champagne on the flight.
Wow, I would too. I'm very happy for you and hope there's finally an end in sight for me as well. So many recent approvals at CSC in all threads!

Received the magic email today! Said they ordered production of my new card on November 22. I was about to call them this week and file a service request. It's nice that I didn't have to. Congrats to the other approvals and I hope those still waiting here something positive soon!

My case is more than 4 months now since i filed last june and more than 2 months now since my biometrics and til now no touch or approval on my application.... i am planning to call USCIS this week just to follow up about my case. OR should i wait a little bit longer since my case still within the timeframe?
A third of May CSC filers are waiting as well. It's been 6 months for us.

I just called the 800 and the IO told me this case usually takes 6 to 9 mos to process.
Thanks for letting us know, very interesting! I see they're already adjusting their answers. Last week a friend was told CSC processing time was still 6 months (and online it still says 6 months, too).

Yes, suggestions would definitely be welcome. For a third of May people, this has turned into an unfair and frustrating process, seeing CSC approving a larger number of Junes and Julyers, and now even some Augusters.

Well, a few more weeks and about a third of us CSC May filers will be past the 6 month processing time. Does anybody have plans on doing a service request or Infopass - to remind them we exist?
I don't think a service request would make much of a difference (I placed two of them for the biometrics letter), and it's a little far for me to make an Infopass appointment. Do we have any other options?
