Very nice and smooth interview....
It seems you had a same day oath! I don't know if in New York they have same day oath.
PS: It's for my wife, she will apply for Citizenship next year.
No, I didnt have the same day oath...but he gave the invitation letter for the ceremony at the end of the interview....Actually Oath ceremony was on Mar 6th.

How was your interview experience please? Thank you.
Thanks Ben10...Interview went well..It actually went for about 20 Mins but the wait before was about an hour....The CO was cool and he started asking the questions directly for almost 15 mins....With respect to the Civic test, I answered all 6 straight so no worries there....After questionning, he asked me to provide all the documentation like Marriage Certs, Kid's Birth Cert, GC's, Tax returns, bank statements, address proof documents, licence etc...After verifying, he was convinced and said "Congratulations, you are approved" and handed over the Oath ceremony invitation letter...At the end, he asked me to write few points about the journey to become US citizen....
Overall, it was smooth and simple...but make sure you take all the necessary documents...

I am officialy a US Citizen now....What a journey this has been for me...Started in late 2009 and finally ended yesterday....I am grateful to all my fellow VJ'ers and without your support this wouldn't have been this easy....I thank each one of you for your guidance and I am commit to provide continuous support to all the new comers....

My Oath ceremony has been scheduled for tomorrow and I want to clarify few things..
- How long the ceremony will be
- Should I need to take any additional documents
- Will I be able to apply for US Passport immediately
- Should I need to update the status with SSN office immediately

I completed my interview today and it was a smooth journey...The CO approved my naturalization and I am scheduled for the Oath on Mar 6th....I thank all of you in this group and all the best for other members who are in the line....

I just received a status change email from USCIS that they have dispatched my interview schedule letter....
Will update my timeline upon receiving the letter..

Well, my status didn't change (I'm still in "Testing and interview") but I got two separate updates:
Dec 27th: "You are in line to be scheduled for an interview"
Dec 31st: "You have been scheduled and we mailed you a letter" (which I received yesterday).

I have completed my Bio today....It was a pretty long wait to complete though....Actual fingerprinting took 15 mins....Preparation for the interview starts...

My naturalization interview lasted about twenty-five minutes, it was a little bit over an hour wait time included. We got there a little before eight and I was back at work by nine-fifteen. After a cursory fingerprinting and check in, we had to wait a bit till my name was called.
The interview went well, the female blonde officer was incredibly nice and put me at ease right from the beginning. She was pleasant and courteous and joked a lot. She asked me the regular "are you a Communist?" "Are you a terrorist?" "Are you a polygamist?" type questions, followed by the civics questions - I got the first six right and so she put an end to it.
Questions asked were:
What does the Cabinet do?
What did the Declaration of Independence do?
How many Supreme Court justices are there?
How many years is a US Senator elected for?
Who takes over in case the President and the Vice President are unable to fulfill their obligations?
Name one branch of the government.
She also threw in "what is Einstein's famous theory?" in the middle of that and I answered before I realized she just kidding. She took out my approval notice and said she was so confident that I'd ace it that she'd already signed it and kept it ready. And I was proud just like any good History geek would be.
Then I had to read and write a sentence to demonstrate English proficiency. And that was it!
I was amazed to see my file on her desk - enormous - and actually asked her, "is that all mine?" and she laughed and said it was because I immigrated through marriage. Thinking back to those awful CR-1 visa waiting days, it is definitely heartening to know that it hadn't just disappeared into a huge black hole and that someone ( in fact several people) had gone over it quite carefully. The case of the missing wedding DVD was also uncovered as it turned out Mr. Sachinky had submitted that with my original petition.
She returned all my pictures and said she recognized "the ginger from the pictures in the waiting room." She asked me how my marriage was doing and if we planned on having any children.
I will say that my impression of USCIS has gone up several notches based on (what is hopefully) my last interaction with them. The lady told me a bit about herself, she used to work in the immigrant visa section in the middle East and she said it was awful. She said how being lied to her face day after day was numbing and how she'd cry in the bathroom for hours at the state of humanity.
She gave me her personal number and told me to call her so that we could schedule a field trip for the school kids (I teach kindergarten at a private academy). She said that she wanted them to see a positive aspect of immigration - how often they are portrayed poorly in the media for one screw up despite getting a hundred things right. I said most people recognize that they have a hard job and given the number of people who are trying to abuse the system, the scrutiny is understandable.
She commended me for being thorough and prepared and truth be told, navigating the US immigration system (mostly on my own) is something I am quite proud of. Special mention must be made of visajourney.com without which I wouldn't have been nearly as successful.
Gr8...good narration...yes you are right about VJ and without these pple support, it wouldnt have been this much easier journey....

I received a booklet and CD with 100 interview preparation questions.
You should be given one but if not you must request as stated in your biometrics letter.

Had my interview this morning. I was approved. The whole thing was very smooth and the IO was incredibly nice. Took a total of 25 minutes. Wait time was about an hour.
Will post a more detailed review once I get out of work.

Does any one know at what point they cash your check? I know it is non refundable. So im just wondering if you get denied or if something else is needed for your packet after it is cashed, can you just resubmit your packet without paying again? Any one know how this works?
Usually if something required is missing, they will send you a RFE (Request For Evidence) to which you need to respond with the asked/required document...You dont have to resubmit the entire package unless the package you submitted has some discrepancy...The money you paid is for this application/case alone...If you, for some reason cancel / not show up to any appointment, then your application/case will be dismissed and you lose the money...If you are planning to file again, you have to restart the process again with the required fee.
USC filing GC for parents, currently visiting US on B2 visa

Hi all,
I am a US Citizen, planning to file GC for my parents. I know that I need to submit I130 to start the process, but should I need to be aware of any other quick process to follow if the parents are currently living in USA on a tourist visa?. I vaguely remember of something like doing AOS for the person who is living in USA while submitting I130 form. Please advise and thanks in advance.
Note: current stay of my parents is valid till Sept 8th 2019.
