  1. I did my medical in Auckland in April of 2010. It was just a basic medical, blood test and chest x-rays, and I had to get an updated Tetanus shot. I can't remember the exact cost, but I want to say in total it was around $150-$160, but it was higher because of the shot.

I think the updated tetanus is the only shot I need too.

  2. I was just wondering how much the medical stuff costs in New Zealand.

I can either go to Christchurch before my interview OR I can go to Auckland on the day of my interview (according to the consulate)

I remember in 2005 my medical was done in Christchurch and consisted of a bunch of questions, a X-Ray but no blood samples or any shots as I was uptodate (not anymore though) it also costed next to nothing but I have heard it can cost an awful lot of money now days.

Any members done the med in Christchurch or Auckland in the last couple years can you please let me know the costs and procedures.

    Thanks

    Scott

  3. So when I emailed the US consulate, they had already contacted me to say that they had my file. I told them my time frame for getting back to the US and they were very nice and sent both packets 3 and 4 together to speed up the process...

With my application, I actually did a direct consular filing (as I was living in London). This really speed up the process as I was able to file directly at the US embassy in London and was able to bypass the NVC.

Sorry I can't be more help!

I did DFC in 2005 when we moved to the US the first time; they really screwed things up removing that option for a lot of countries.

Since I have done both DCF and also gone through NVC I can personally vouch that the NVC sucks; complications after complications and the waiting times, our file was on someones desk sitting waiting to be closed out for a month! incompetence!.

  4. kelnjohn I'm not sure who you were in contact with at the consulate but both times we emailed them asking for an appointment or even to see if I can schedule my medical we were told that they can not in any way schedule our interview until the NVC sends them our file which according to you is complete bogus.]

It is unfortunate and very very frustrating that they are unable/willing to help us out like they did you even though we have extenuating circumstances requiring us to be out of NZ by mid January.

  5. Called NVC 7 days ago and found out our case has been completed and today we get the following email:

    Dear Sir or Madam:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing

of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner

and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment

until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of

the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at

    the following URL: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

I read on this forum that they do not send out case complete emails like this; is this a new thing?

    thanks

  6. Hi Scott 'n' Jess.

Yeah, call every day! I just called today (talked to them last on Friday after getting a false checklist) to find out that our case is complete (as of the 15th). They won't email you at this stage--they said they'd email next when an interview date is assigned.

There are three (maybe four) of us all at the similar stage to be interviewed in Auckland. Hope your case moves quickly. I know I'm getting antsy!

    Heather

NVC is starting to really get on my nerves. We called them yesterday and STILL no progress; apparently it is sitting on someone's desk unmoved since the 14th of September.

The person at the NVC said the next time we should call is the 30th of October which is 12 days away; we really want to be in the USA for Christmas but if they keep dragging their feet we will miss out.
