Hi everyone, i am posting this on behalf of a friend. She had her fiancees K-1 visa refused, and she was told to get in touch with her congressman/woman which she did and she's now been advice to go back to her country to go and get married so she could refile her papers, pls i just want to know if this is the right decisoin, and is there any suggestion on what to do. Hi everyone, myself and my wife went for our AOS interview yesterday and everything went well. At the end of the interview the IO told us we've been approved,she told us about the conditional 2yrs greencard that as been approved. But since yesterday and even till now that i am posting this note my status on the USCIS page has not been updated and how long does it take them to update the online status. i'm just kind of curious about it.

The envelope containing my AOS interview notice had two separate pages:

One is the actual interview letter while the other is a sheet saying something like if I was arrested or convicted before, I should bring court or prison records.

Did your friend mention what the "other notice" is about?

Yeah i think that was the notice he was talking about too. Is that how it been sent to everyone?

The privacy release form is standard. Once you've decided which office you are going to work with, do their release form, and include a letter to the congressperson/senator requesting that they look into your issue. Lay out the pertinent facts, and what you think is wrong. When you talked to the staff member on the phone, hopefully they told you if mail, fax or hand carry is preferred/allowed.

I think you should get the out of date medical issue taken care of before you try to respond to the other items listed on the RFE. The deliverable you should expect from the office of your congressperson is that if they "fixed" any portion of the RFE, you should have that confirmation in writing to send in with the remaining items. Hopefully they can give you clarification about any other deficiencies - ie: Taxes sent in, but not W2s or birth certificate not accompanied by certified translation...

Hi everyone, thanks for your advise about getting in in touch with our congresswoman. We got in touch with our congresswoman and we got a good response that our medical was found but the only document missing was the 2008 tax document, which has been sent,received and signed for by the homeland security on friday after tracking. But since then we have heard nothing from them not even an update on our case status online. Does this long to hear from them. Done my biometrics since the 26th of January but haven't heard anything about my EAD yet. Can somebody pls tell me what next to do about these. I'm kind of curious.

Not sure what to tell you about the taxes or other things. However, We did have the exact same problem with the Medical issues. I started a thread with what we did for that - the short answer is to get your congressperson or senator involved and see if they can clear the whole thing up for you. Just so you know, we did have the vaccines transcribed onto the I693, so if you only sent in the DS-3025, I'm not sure if it will be the same for you.

We contacted our congresswoman this afternoon and she's asking for a release form, does that sound farmiliar to you, just wanted to know the process you went through. Please can anyone give us a brief ideal of what the process looks like when going through a congressman/woman trying to correct issues concerning your medical RFE and other RFE's.

Will so much appreciate it if anyone could help in this aspect.

We sent out AOS package December 21 and got NOA1 Jan 8, now we got another letter yesterday Requesting for Initial Evidence of the same information we already sent to them.

---They are requesting for my Taxes for most recent years of which we already included in the package we mailed to them (3 yrs to be precise) thank God we made copies of everything we sent

---They are also requesting for I-693 stating that the information on it is outdated that the civil surgeon certified the exam more than a year ago... my husband came in to the US with a K-1 Visa on Nov 28th 2009... All the medicals where done few months to his departure, infact they wouldnt have approved his visa if the medicals were not done, even though it was not completed (They told him He can do it here in the States) but they are saying that it was outdated... This is also untrue

---They are also requesting for his birth certificate, this we also sent in the package.... so also untrue

So we called them this morning and of course the person couldnt help, she cliams she doesnt have any further information that we should follow the instruction on the RFE letter and can check status online. And that it is possible for the office to request for the same information more than once.

At this point we dont even know what to do, I asked her if we resubmit all the information again and they are still not satisfy since is the same information we are going to send, she said to still send them....

Has anyone experience this? What did you do in your own case? How can we go about this?

The package we sent intially had the EAD Form, AOS Application and also the medicals DS-3025

The notice should tell you what to bring.

Normally, you bring ID, SSC (if available), notice itself.

I went with my wife to the appointment - however, locations vary, and rules follow.

Biometrics is usually just fingerprinting - no real questions.

My husband has his interview tomorrow for Biometrics. We received just one interview/Biometrics letter for both the EAD and AOS.

Is there any other thing we need to take to the interview tomorrow, my husband doesnt have his driver's license yet.

Do you know if he's going to be asked any questions since it says on the letter "interview" or he will just do the finger printing/biometrics?

Do i need to follow him?

Do you know how soon the EAD will come after this?

Its only the 7th. But did you send the form for emails when u sent the application?

Send the form for email? You mean did I ask them to notify us via email?

I sent my package about exactly the time as yours but i already received the receipt from them already. Yours probably is on the way. Don't worry so much. I recommend next time when u send anything out to them, use your personal check because u can keep track of them. When i checked my bank, they took the check and the next day i received the notice.

Thank you we always use personal check but for some reason because we saw on VJ to use money order, thats why we used money order, hopefully by the weekend.... Will keep you posted. Thank you again

Keep checking to see when your check is cashed. Calling will do no good until your application is opened and put into the computer system. The operator will tell you to wait 30, 60, or 90 days. It took two weeks to cash our check with no holidays.

Happy New Year everyone! We mailed in our AOS package on 12/21/2009, got to the unit 12/26/2009 because of the holiday in between we are guessing and was received at the AOS Office 12/28/2009. We havent received any letters from them yet, do you know how long it takes to at least get a notification letter stating they have received our package or is there a number to call. We didnt see any number(s) on their website. Please advise. Thank you much!

My hubby applied for his SSN a week ago, he came in the States with a K1 on Nov28th. The lady at the SS office said his information just came through since he has been in the country for only couple of weeks that his SSN should be in the mail by this week Tuesday (when we applied 2 weeks ago). Today is Friday and he just called them only to find out that there was some notification stating that they have to put his information back again in the system. The lady said as soon as the information is processed he should have his SSN hopefully by next week. My question now is, we have put our AOS package together and we were waiting for the SSN, since it's not here yet and our I-94 expires in Feburary do we just send the package without his SSN since the package includes EAD? He wants to start working as soon as he can. Please advise

I think in order to apply for a marriage license in NC, you need a SSN.

When I applied for my SSC, the clerk was just looking at my passport, visa, I-94 and my marriage certificate. I had my birth certificate with translation with me, you know just in case.

Thank you soooo much for your replies. Right now, I'm trying to fill up the SSN application. I would like to know a few things below:

1. Do I need any other documents other than my Passport with I-94? (I have printed out the RM 00203.500 and EM-00154 as suggested in the guide)

2. How do I fill out the Question No. 5 on SSN application regarding CITIZENSHIP. Do I put a check on "Legal Alien Allowed to Work"??

I hope someone can shed some light here.

Got Married 12/4, civil Ceremony and got Marriage License

Change my name same day 12/4

Applied for SSN on 12/10 but already went there 12/2 but told us to wait till he gets in the system

We are are still waiting for the SSN in the mail hopefully during this week sometimes, they said it takes a week.

We got our license before we are getting the SSN

We are trying to send our package in hopefully this weekend. The I-94 expiration date is Feburary although we already applied for SS# after we got married last week.

From the application, is A# the same as annotation# on the passport or where can we find this? There are several numbers.

On EAD application what is CFR27a

Since my husband came in with a K1-Visa and this is to adjust his status, what would be his current status with USCIS? That was also on the application.

Also, I read somewhere that Medical Record form (I-693) was not included in package and AOS was approved is this true? It says it was optional though but I just want to confirm.

We are in the process of applying for the EAD but can he work with his SS#? Or would this be considered illegal?
