Perhaps that is what happened in NY, but this time around god decided this teenager should die and his brother should live with the physical and emotional scars? Perhaps the parents were acting according to god's will this time around...
But the ex-member denied reports the church is a cult.
"I realize this situation makes it look like this," she said, "but if you listen to the teachings, they are accurate to the Bible."

Does this mean they were not born ?
We need to stop the anchor baby thing. Maybe it would take an amendment.
why do we need to stop the anchor baby thing? it isn't even a thing..
But the anchor baby, while potent politically, is a largely mythical idea.
Here's the basic concept: People, namely women, come to the United States illegally and give birth to children, generally for the specific purpose of bolstering legal attempts of the child's parents remain in the United States or even become citizens themselves.
Looser definitions suggest "anchor babies" can simply be intended to help illegal-immigrant parents access taxpayer-financed public education and/or social services through their citizen children -- another political hot button, to be sure. (Even here, the law limits those benefits to the children themselves.)
But usually the debate has been about the residency of the parents, who after all are supposed to be using the child as their "anchor."
This is the definition that has little legal underpinning. For illegal immigrant parents, being the parent of a U.S. citizen child almost never forms the core of a successful defense in an immigration court. In short, if the undocumented parent of a U.S.-born child is caught in the United States, he or she legally faces the very same risk of deportation as any other immigrant.
The only thing that a so-called anchor baby can do to assist either of their undocumented parents involves such a long game that it's not a practical immigration strategy, said Greg Chen, an immigration law expert and director of The American Immigration Lawyers Association, a trade group that also advocates for immigrant-friendly reforms. That long game is this: If and when a U.S. citizen reaches the age of 21, he or she can then apply for a parent to obtain a visa and green card and eventually enter the United States legally.

Some would attribute it to this chart. Of course we incarcerate more people than anyone else on the planet....
some would be extremely short sighted.

Interesting. It seems this group of loving christians have interpreted their holy book to the letter... In addition, how could anyone consider beating up their children to death. How about the sanctity of life? Does it end at some point after a fetus becomes a baby?
one of my favorite bible stories is the one where god tells abraham to sacrifice is son to him. and then god waits till the very last second to shout out 'yo abraham, good job bro. you were going to kill your son just like i asked, even though you love your son so much, you passed the test and proved you love me more. as a reward, don't kill your kid!'
andrea yates didn't get a shout out. oops.

The fluoride mind control thing is truly a myth.
i see you've been drinking the flouridated koolaide.
-
.. The legalization across the country of abortion.
flouridated fetuses take no issue with being aborted.
-
Does that also coincide with the removal of lead based paints?
flouridated water.

This church seems to represent the extremist fringe of the faith...
we can debate the literal meaning of 'the rod' or 'the rod of discipline' but imo the bible clearly states that if you don't beat your kids, you don't love them.
http://biblehub.com/proverbs/13-24.htm
Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.
He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Holman Christian Standard Bible
The one who will not use the rod hates his son, but the one who loves him disciplines him diligently.
International Standard Version
Whoever does not discipline his son hates him, but whoever loves him is diligent to correct him.
The one who spares his rod hates his child, but the one who loves his child is diligent in disciplining him.
Aramaic Bible in Plain English
Everyone that spares concerning his rod, hates his son, and he that loves his son disciplines him earnestly.
Whoever refuses to spank his son hates him, but whoever loves his son disciplines him from early on.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
He that cuts short chastening hates his son, but he that loves him chastens him early.
He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.
He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him betimes.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son; But he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
Whoso is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoso is loving him hath hastened him chastisement.

When i was dating my wife, we met in Utica a couple times on weekends because it was a halfway point for each of us to drive. That area of upstate NY reminds me a bit of the bible belt spots in the south.
reminds me of my first time in montreal and my husband was all, lookit all the churches. and i was all, are you serious? there should be two minimum on every block - including suburbs- to keep up with the valley! one protestant, one insane independent and/or baptist and one catholic/episcopalian (these are interchangeable) - every block.

these are the sorts of churches that are in need of a serious children of the corn takeover.
-
Maybe you and I expect it, but if you ask Expat that's not what is happening and that is what I was referring to. He's said time and time again this time around and last round that Christians are treated poorly in Israel yet each and every single time I prove he's full of you know what.
Interesting story though. Not surprising, but not something I tend to agree with...
obviously i have no idea what its like to be christian in israel. but thanks to modern technology, i've a good idea what it is to be a palestinian. respect and dignity ain't in the lingo.

Sums it up
We have our own belief systems, and the actions of neither side reflect them. Only one side is propped up by our tax dollars however.
Since that side doesn't care, my view is that we should pull out and not do business there.
It wouldn't be the first despotic regime we walked away from and left to swing in the wind.

This - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/571016-lies-lies-and-more-lies/ Pretty much sums up what some people have posted on this thread already too(hint - I wouldn't trust the aljazeera link above).
The amount of lies and distortion as to the reason for the stabbings is unbelievable.
but hey, what's a little more
wait. back up. you don't trust aljazeera. ynetnews is cool. hint - i'm not surprised.

NEAR Bethlehem and IN Bethlehem are two completely different things. Next lie please?
BTW my wife who is American and Catholic keeps asking me why "we" gave bethlehem back to "them". I keep having to take the "Palestinian side" and explaining it to her. Being catholic she was taught that Jews are the protectors of the holy places. She's seen the difference in how those places are being treated under Jewish responsibility as opposed to the often poor treatment otherwise.
She's also seen first hand how NOT racist for the most part the majority of Israelis are towards other religions. She's been treated with respect and dignity as a Christian. Keep spreading your lies and I'll keep showing that that's all they are.
um, of course she's treated with respect and dignity. she's friggin catholic. how in the world 'israel being respectful to a catholic' is anything but completely expected...
but somehow this proves israel isn't racist to other religions? think we're discussing palestinians.weird logic.
growing up in a baptist church, israel was always portrayed as a victim of the subhuman palestinian terrorists. we had many many a collection plate dedicated to raising funds for israel. i don't remember ever hearing a single word uttered to even suggest that palestinians are even human beings, with the right to exist.. because israel is god's chosen, the rest are as good as dead. we all have stories huh..

I fully support our service members. I do not support my govt for continuing to bomb and be involved in a conflict with no purpose or goal.
imo, the only way to fully support service members is to make sure they're only involved in a conflict if absolutely, beyond the shadow of a doubt, necessary. needless to say, mission (not) accomplished.
Who is doing the ridiculing?
i don't know. i didn't watch the debate or aftermath.
I wouldn't take the comments from the GnOP noise machine seriously. These are the same people who support Trump, for whom John McCain is not a hero because he was a POW. The comments about Jim Webb are just the latest installment in the daily swill dispensed by Trump and his ilk.
i think the american people are too soft. we can't stand seeing the realities of the wars we fund.

Since October 1, 37 Palestinians have been killed in shootings and clashes with Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel, while seven Israelis have been killed in knife and gun attacks.
Rights groups have warned that Israel is using excessive force against Palestinians and that some of the incidents amounted to extrajudicial killings.
The violence has been triggered in part by recent visits by Jewish groups to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, coupled with Israeli restrictions on Palestinian access to the mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites.
Frustration is also mounting as Israel continues to build Jewish-only settlements throughout the West Bank, taking over Palestinian lands, in defiance of international law.

stupid things said by a brain surgeon running for preznit:
1. “There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up. Think about Nazi Germany. Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened.”
~Ben Carson, comparing Democrats to Nazis, January 2014.2. “I mean, [America is] very much like Nazi Germany. And I know you’re not supposed to say ‘Nazi Germany,’ but I don’t care about political correctness. You know, you had a government using its tools to intimidate the population. We now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe.”
~Ben Carson, telling Breitbart News how America is like Nazi Germany because of liberals, March 2014.3. “ObamaCare is the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery. In a way, it is slavery, because it is making all of us subservient to the government.”
~Ben Carson, comparing healthcare to slavery during the Values Voter Summit, October 2013.
Top 10 Quotes That Prove Neurosurgeon Ben Carson Doesn’t Have The Brain To Be PresidentAuthor: Stephen D Foster Jr November 15, 2014 12:12 pmDr. Ben Carson is now a Republican candidate for the presidency. With that, comes the media scrutiny that includes reviewing his past remarks and making him answer for them. As a neurosurgeon, Carson is no doubt brilliant. But his various statements during his foray into the world of politics demonstrate that he doesn’t have the brain necessary to run the country as president.
1. “There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up. Think about Nazi Germany. Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened.”

~Ben Carson, comparing healthcare to slavery during the Values Voter Summit, October 2013.4. “Because 9/11 is an isolated incident. Things that are isolated issues as opposed to things that fundamentally change the United Sates of America and shift power from the people to the government. That is a huge shift. You have to take a long-term look at something that fundamentally changes the power structure of America.”
~Ben Carson, claiming ObamaCare is worse than the 9/11 terrorist attacks that killed 3,000 Americans, June 2014.5. “I think what’s happening with the veterans is a gift from God to show us what happens when you take layers and layers of bureaucracy and place them between the patients and the health care provider. And if we can’t get it right, with the relatively small number of veterans, how in the world are you going to do it with the entire population?”
~Ben Carson, thanking God for dead soldiers in an attack on ObamaCare amid the Veteran’s Affairs military healthcare scandal in which veterans died waiting for medical care, Memorial Day Weekend 2014.6. “My thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It’s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society, and no group — be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality — it doesn’t matter what they are — they don’t get to change the definition.”
~Ben Carson, comparing same-sex marriage to bestiality and pedophilia, April 2013.7. “Certainly there’s the potential because you have to recognize that we have a rapidly increasing national debt, a very unstable financial foundation, and you have all these things going on like the ISIS crisis that could very rapidly change things that are going on in our nation. And unless we begin to deal with these things in a comprehensive way and in a logical way there is no telling what could happen in just a couple of years.”
~Ben Carson, telling Fox News that President Obama might declare martial law and cancel the 2016 Election so he can continue being president, September 2014.8. “I think most people when they finish that course, they’d be ready to go sign up for ISIS.”
~Ben Carson, claiming the AP History curriculum will cause students who learn about civil disobedience in this country to join a violent terrorist group, September 2014.9. “Anyone caught involved in voter fraud should be immediately deported and have his citizenship revoked.”
~Ben Carson, advocating for stripping non-citizens of their no-existant American citizenship if they are caught voting, November 2014. NOTE: quote was later removed from Carson’s WND column.10. “So if there were a container of contaminated urine, and somehow it managed to find its way to someplace a lot of damage could be done. Someone comes up to a lab worker. He knows he’s got the urine. ‘How would you like to have a million dollars?’ … Such things have been known to happen.”
~Ben Carson, fearmongering over Ebola by saying it could be used a biological weapon even though infectious disease experts disagree, August 2014.number ten (10) is my favorit.
