are you sure because the us embassy in paris corrected the instructions with a pen saying I-134 instead of I-864.
thats why if there is anyone who went through this in france it could be awesome to help or if anyone knows how it works in us embassy in paris.
thank you.
I'm a bit confused. It sounds like you're still in the K-1 process (your status here shows AOS approved?!?). Your fiancee and her dad should each fill out the I-134 form with supporting documentation. There is no need to notarize I-134. Just make sure if they declared assets in the form, they must provide evidence. Clear?

Hello,
My fiance had his interview today in Paris and he's been approved for a K-1 visa.
It's my understanding that embassies normally give out either a blue or white or pink or green slip(s). He didn't get any of that and was simply told he will get his visa in 10 days. Question is -- should he be getting a slip to confirm it's approved or no slip is good enough?
I will post his interview experience shortly. He's on his way back to his hometown and I'll be speaking with him tonight to get the scoop but it looks like we're all set.
Thanks to everyone here on VJ for all the help and for continuously posting helpful information.

Hello all,
My interview is scheduled tomorrow and as I am going through everything one more time, I have a question regarding DS156...Do I have to glue/staple my passport-type pictures on there AND have an additionnal two passport-type pictures with me?
Also can anyone please confirm I need 2 copies of DS156, 1 copy of DS156K, 1 copy of DS157 and 1 copy of DS230 part II?
Thank you for all responses.
Stefany.
I believe the form indicates to either staple or glue the photos to the photo section of the form.
Yes you need 2 copes of DS156, 1 copy of DS156k, 1 copy of DS157 and 1 copy of DS230 part II (sworn statement).

you will not find any civil surgeons in Paris... they are called panel physicians...
On e would expect the P3 to be more accurate and more frequently updated than VJ
moving to consulate forum
Ok I stand corrected. "Panel Physicians" it is. Thanks.

Guys please keep me truthful. One of the civil surgeons, Dr. Leparc's address is different on the Embassy info page here on VJ. The address (see below) is what shows on the paperwork sent by the embassy. Which one is correct? For those with upcoming interview, please double check your papers too and let's update the embassy info page if necessary:
Dr. Pierre LEPARC
22, rue Laugier - Escalier B, RdC gauche
75017 Paris +33 (0) 1 48 88 04 52

Doesn't the US Embassy in Paris send a notice to the applicant when they receive the petition (packet 3), and doesn't the notice have the case number on it? Why would you send a DS-2001 to the consulate before receiving the notice? I know that the consulate in Vietnam won't accept a DS-2001 and DS-230 from an applicant before they've processed the petition into their system and sent the notice. A VJ member recently tried to get a head start on the consulate by preemptively sending the forms to the consulate, and they were rejected.
Hi... After reading this thread, I'm really confused now, too. I just sent DS-230 Part 1 to the embassy yesterday after I received a notice last week that told me to do so. I didn't put a case number on it. Can they assign the DS-230 Part 1 to our K1-petition now? I didn't get a DS-2001 form with the letter from the embassy either.
DS-230 Part 1 form wouldn't have a section to fill in the Case Number. It's the DS-2001 that would ask for this information and this form is part of packet 3. Without this form, there is no way for the consulate to know if your fiance is ready to be interviewed. Packet 4 will not be sent to the beneficiary if DS-2001 is not sent back to them. Call/fax and inquire about this form if they can either send one to you or if you can download the form yourself.

I just called the Department of State in the US......regarding our K1 fiance Visa
The girl told me that the US Embassy in Paris receivied our Packet 3 and processed our DS 230 part 1, and they are waiting for our DS 230 part 2 before giving us an interview date. Did you have to send them Part 2 of the DS 230 with your packet 3????? It DIDN'T state that they needed THAT! Only the DS 230 part 1 and the DS 2001 signed checklist!!!!
Please help!!!!!! I'm freaking out right now! The DS 230 part 2 is the sworn statement. Why would they want that now......My fiance can't sign it until his interview date anyway!!!! Or do they just want the paper........to just have it?
Thank you so much!
We have been waiting a month now for our packet 4 to come after they received our Packet 3.......
Do I fax the DS 230 part 2 to them.......?????
Mail it????????????
Please HELP!!!
Thank YOU!!!!!!
Any updates?

Sharing info with K-1 applicants in Paris
My fiance called one of the doctors in Paris to set up an appointment. He's been scheduled 2 days before his interview. The doctor told him to get his own chest x-ray as the doctor apparently doesn't do radiography in his office. He was also told that the medical exam fee is 180 (?). My fiance then told him the fee should include chest x-ray (that's what it says on the letter). Because he's being advised to get an x-ray, my fiance will only pay 150 now for the medical exam (yeah he gets a bit of a discount). I am questioning this procedure so I've told my fiance to call the other doctors. I thought they're (doctors) supposed to forward sealed x-ray stuff/results to the embassy. I mean we don't mind saving 30 euros but I am not sure if the embassy will accept this.

jonara, poprocks
thanks for understanding our situation
regards to all..
That actually crossed my mind that he may have applied for a tourist visa and got denied OR tried to apply but never got around it because there's a lot of logistics involved to gather proof of "i-will-come-back". So you can use that as another reason. Some have better position in maintaining a long distance marriage by visiting regularly, but some don't. The P.I. is definitely a challenge but families survive at any rate. Good luck to you. I hope the CO understands your situation.

Playing devil's advocate here...
Presuming I was a CO at any consulate in the world, and I was presented with a case where a married couple had not seen each other in 7 years. The separation was by choice, and not because the beneficiary was stranded on a deserted island or held prisoner in a gulag. As an imaginary CO, I would deny the visa flat out. I wouldn't even ask to see any proof of "bona fide relationship". There would be no way you could convince me that a marital relationship existed between two people who choose to live apart for 7 years. The purpose of a spousal visa is to reunite families. In my mind, as an imaginary CO, this isn't a family - it's a couple of friends who live on opposite sides of the planet.
I'm not the most optimistic person in the world, but I think a real CO may be even more jaded than I am.
I think it depends on how culturally savvy the CO is. In the P.I., it is normal for families to be separated longer than anyone can imagine. People tend to seek job opportunities outside of the country so often times families have to deal with separation. Flying back and forth just to see each other goes in the back burner... it's a small sacrifice they typically make just to save the money instead. It's a tough choice to make but I hope OP can still counter any possible issues. Staying where he is for the purpose of collecting decent retirement money from his company is not a bad reason. Saving money instead of blowing it on airfare is not a bad reason either.

I also hope you well to and back to work to regards to your wife from mine.
Janora thank you so much for this I hope it can help her it will be such a huge relief if it does.

Hello guys !!
I really need your help !! I'm desperate, don't know what to do ...
I'm french, married to a USC, mother of a 11 year-old daughter (from a previous relationship, french citizen too). We got married in the US, and are living in France. My daughter is disabled, she has developmental delays and a kind of autism. She is here in France in a "special school for special kids" where they take good care of her. She sleeps at school 3 nights a week, and learns alot (different activities : paint, music, swimming pool, poney, ...) she really loves being there.
First, i would like to know how difficult it would be to find a similar place in the US (in Dallas would be perfect !).
This kind of school is very expensive in France, luckily the gov pays for it !! I guess its expensive in the US too .... here comes my second question : i guess a financial aid is available to help poor parents of disabled kids. But as an immigrant, i wont have the right to ask for any financial aid, right ? Is there any other way ?
My husband plans to move back home, i'm afraid i wont be able to follow him. We are poor, its gonna be very very hard to do a DCF, because of the "affidavit of support". That's the first big step .... and if there is no way for my daughter to go to a "school for special kids", then i will definitely have to stay here in France with her, far away from my husband !!
I'm so desperate, i need your help and your advices !!
Thanks.
It depends on the state. Texas, for many years offers very little state spending for disabled and community services but may have changed too. There are many public schools around the country for special needs children. I'll get some information and will contact you as soonest.

Here's what I can share coming from another member here who's gone thru the examination in Paris:
The fee is $170 which only includes check up, blood test (for HIV and Syphillis) and the chest X-ray. You can't wave these services. If you need vaccinations, you will pay extra. The following are the list of standard vaccines they look for (I suggest you get them and ask for a letter from your doctor stating you got them already):
For Tetanos diphteria and polio
Rougeole (measles I think)
Rubeole (rubella?)
Oreillons (mumps?)
Varicelle (Chickenpox)
I hope this helps.
Did you (or fiancé) have to see 1 of their doctors? Is your medical done yet??? Where do you have to go for the exam in Paris?
Thanks for any info!
This will come in Packet 4 (see attached). There are only 3 doctors in Paris that are approved by the embassy. Applicants must make an appointment with one of these doctors only.

Please look into Medicaid option. COBRA is extremely expensive and you both could use that money for something else. Medicaid generally covers low income USC or even a lawfully admitted immigrants. LOL. It depends on the airline and your destination. Aer Lingus actually charges half the fare if you need to one way trip only. But that's only from CDG to Boston. Not sure of other US destination. :-)

Hi,
My fiance is scheduled for interview on 11/19. I am not sure what constitutes original tax transcripts. When I (petitioner) went to my local IRS office to ask for tax transcripts, they gave me print outs and that's what I forwarded to my fiance along with the Affidavit form (and other proofs).
My fiance sent his packet 3 on 10/2 and he received his packet 4 (appointment letter and all) on 10/29.

I definitely prefer the American appliances. My experience with laundry elsewhere has been less favorable. It never had that "downy" feeling. Either that or my clothes come out crusty coz the water is too hard.
Try the iRobot vaccum cleaner... very functional. Give him a name too because it has a life of its own.

Removing my original comment. The topic is "USCIS".

k1-My fiance is in France, but she is brazilian, SO.
I was wondering
if anyone has a fiance checklist from USAs embassy in france. I just want to get ready what ever she needs.(thinking ahead).
i see that one suppose to filled out a form in regards my income.
. Here is the problem! I work for cash. so of course I dont have a bank account. yesterday went to open and account and the teller called the manager and this calls the manager of managers.
.... asking me a bunch of useless
questions, what do i do? and if i have a business ID. "NO" i said
. I work for cash "U SHOW CASH, I SHOW WORK" simple as that. "THATS HOW I ROLLED" i said.
Anyways, they didnt take my money because i need it to show where it came from. can anyone help me on this one?
PS: I didnt know all this immigration stuff. Im feeling like an Immigrant...LOL..
thanks guys...!
My fiance is French and he received the checklist from the US Embassy in Paris (a.k.a Packet 3 - which comes after your petition has been approved here). I can send you scanned copies of this..it's 4-5 pages.
Are you opening a bank account due to the Affidavit of Support requirement? I did not provide bank statements for my I-134 because I supplied letter of employment, paycheck stubs, retirement accounts and IRS tax transcript. I also satisfied the income requirement.

Hello
My fiance was refused re-admission to USA following a previous 90-day stay under VWP. CBP felt he's an intending immigrant so he must get a real visa in order to come back to the country. Now that he's completing DS-156 (part of K-1 process), it is obvious that he has to check off Yes to the second question (Have you ever been refused...").
Questions:
1) Is it necessary to add a supplemental document explaining what happened at POE? I am assuming the consulate will be given a copy of the I-877 that was filed the day he was turned away.
2) Would this affect the K-1 approval? He was not given any 3 or 10 year ban. He was simply told he can no longer use VWP to enter the US in the future.
Thank for your feedback.

If you are not married yet and you are about to apply for a K-1 visa then yes state "K-1 visa". Yes. Again there should be I-134 from her with supporting docs and I-134 from the dad with supporting docs. I-864 will be required later on after you're married and are filing for AOS.
Yeah it is confusing and that's why I didn't let my French fiance do it alone. US Immigration process is too foreign to him.
What else?
