  1. Hi there,

Welcome to VJ. My personal opinion is to go with CR-1. It's much better in many ways as described by others.

I think there is a very high approval rate as well. Time difference between CR-1 and K-3 is not that much. If you are looking at my timeline, we had to fix some stuff during the process that's why it took a little longer. Just in case if you serch my timeline.

Wishing you best of luck on your journey ahead.

No worries, we are here to help. :star:

  2. Salam,

No worries. InshaAllah u will do just fine. Be confident, calm, smiling. Get all your paperwork ready so if they ask for something, u have it right away. Be honest. If you don't know an answer, say, "I don't know or I don't remember." Don't make it up! Be short and sweet, means answer only what's asked. If the question is yes and no, only answer accordingly. If the question is asking for name, only say name. Describe only if asked.

Remember there is going to be many others being interviewed. So if you hear others talking stuff, don't get intimidated. Stay calm and cool. Pray duas if you know them.

Our prayers are with u. Best of luck.

  3. :star: Two questions:

--Is the USC petitioner allowed for the interview?

--Is the visa issued on the same day or do they mail it to your home address?

    Thanks. :star:

    Congratulations on I-130 approval.

I'm sure u have already started working on getting the rest of the paperwork done.

I don't think Mumbai Embassy allows USC or anyone to accompany the beneficiery. But you can call to double check.

They told my wife that they will mail the passport in couple of days when she went to VFS to pick it up.

It might be just because it was MLK holiday the previous day so they might have been backed up.

Sometimes you do get visa same day, sometimes not. It all depends on them. But they are pretty punctual with their courier system. My wife recieved her visa in couple of days.

Good luck and let's hope for the speedy rest of the process.

  4. I get the continuous stay part--how would you go about proving residency? Electric bills? Phone bills? Bank statements?

    This is what I found:

Proof of such residency will include a U.S. passport with an appropriate long-term, valid Indian visa and a Registration Report and Residential Permit issued by the Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the Government of India. Additional evidence should include, but is not limited to, on-going employment in India, taxes paid in India, rent/property receipts, and utility receipts in India.

  5. that is a good idea, because actually i am no longer seeing any requirements on the length of stay:

    http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/uscisi130fil.html

True that. This is what is posted on New Delhi website:

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi accepts I-130 petitions from U.S. citizens who reside in India. U.S. citizens whose principal residence is not in India, and/or are abroad temporarily as a visitor or on business, must file the petition in the United States.

If you are not eligible to file in New Delhi, you should file the petition with the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence or last residence in the United States. Lawful Permanent Residents must file the petition in the United States.

    Evidence of Residence

Proof of such residency will include a U.S. passport with an appropriate long-term, valid Indian visa and a Registration Report and Residential Permit issued by the Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) of the Government of India. Additional evidence should include, but is not limited to, on-going employment in India, taxes paid in India, rent/property receipts, and utility receipts in India.

United States Citizens may file their petitions between 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on all normal business days i.e. Monday through Thursday. The Petitioners must comply with the filing requirements of this Office.

  6. Hello everyone,

One of my friends just got married couple of days ago in India. He went for a 5 week visit. Is it possible for him to go to New Delhi and apply for the visa? Or does he have to come to the U.S. and apply from here? I know there is certain requirement that you have to reside in India for 90 days. But I couldn't find that specific information on U.S. Embassy New Delhi website.

    Your suggesions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you :)

  7. NVC said my case is completed on 01/19/2010. Does any body know how long it takes to schedule an interview at chennai, india. Please share your experiences.

NVC sent your file to Chennai Embassy as soon as your case was completed, so your Embassy should recieve the file 3-4 days after your case is completed. Indain Embassies schedule the interviews in the second week of every month. I think it's too late for February. But I would say you should get your interview date in March, hopefully in early march.

    Good luck.

  8. I got mine NVC number.

Now, we have to call and speak to a operator and gave them email addresses and then, my beneficiary can send them DS-3042 (email - DS-3042).

Am I making sense here? :innocent:

Congrats. It's DS 3032. Once you give them your emails, they will send you the DS-3032 in email. It has a barcode. You either mail that to NVC or send them an email stating who is going to be the Choice of Agent.

  9. my case "should" be completed this week... **knock on wood**

i really hope soo... but then we'll get an interview date which i am guessing will be for march...

(i might just tell him to email the embassy and see if they can move it up?... who knowss...)

    ahhhh!! this process takes forever!

I know it's frustrating to wait. But trust me, it's worth. You might get an early March date or maybe they can fit you in February. You never know.

    Good luck.

  10. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you to everyone. I really really really appreciate it.:star::yes:

    They also asked her:

How many days did your husband live with you after marriage?

How many years since your husband went to US?

Did you go somewhere for the honeymoon?

Is this love marriage or arranged marriage?

While looking at the album, they asked:

    How old is your husband?

    How old are you?
