  1. Hi all,

I wanted to start this topic for those of us whose case was completed in November and are waiting for their interview date.

    Question:

After marriage, we didn't get a chance to go for a honeymoon because I had to come back to the States due to work. Is that ok if we don't have any flight tickets or boarding passes?

But I did get a chance to visit her parents at her place. We took some photos. Think this will help?

Any other specific proof of relationship sugessions?

  2. It depends on the Local/District Police office on how they issue the certificate, either with or without the photo of the beneficiary.

To clear your doubts, you can always call NVC or your embasy.

My wife didn't have to get Local PCC because her passport is less than 6 months old. But she got her Passport/Regional PCC without her photo attached. Our file is complete. I don't think it causes any problems. that's my opinion.

But, I would suggest you make some phone calls just to be on the safe side. That's what I would do.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi Sara,

All I can say is that you both are very strong. And strong relationships always win. After every hardship, there is relief and it's coming soon. My prayers are with you and next time I talk to my wife, I'll tell her to pray too. He'll get the visa soon. Wishing you the bestest of the luck! Take care

  4. Hi all,

My wife lives in Surat, Gujarat. She had to get a new passport due to name error in her father's name. So she ony got Passport (Regional) PCC because on mumbai ambassy website, it says you only need Passpory PCC if your passport is 6 months old.

This is what's posted on Mumbai Embassy website:

Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police

station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance.

When she went to get the District PCC the first time, they said they no longer provide district PCC's. They were saying the law was effective sometime in August.

There was also a news article about it on Mumbai Embassy website. But when I visited that article link last week, it was removed.

We submitted DS-230 with only passport PCC and we are waiting for the interview date. Is it safer to get the District PCC and submit it at the time of interview?

I don't want our case to put on hold just because of not getting District PCC.

Please give me some advise. I really appreciate it. Thank you!

    I'm soooooooo worried :o

My fiancée also lives in Surat and had to get a PCC from the district office. We submitted Packet 3 in person and Packet 4 went to VFS as required by Mumbai consulate and the officers reviewed everything and took what they needed. A few days later they called my fiancée on the phone regarding her passport pictures because she was wearing contacts, so told her to bring two new ones at the interview. I suggest you go to Mumbai Consulate and talk to someone there as well. Or you contact an agent.

How old is your fiance's passport? Is it less than 6 months old? If it is less than 6 months old, did you still get both PCC's?

I'm going to call the Mumbai embassy and ask them about this matter. thanks!

  5. No, I didn't call about this. My wife already got Regional PCC and sent it with DS-230 package. I'm confused about District PCC.

Thanks for ur help! I will try to contact them.

did you get PCC from ahmedabad passport office ? My wife tried to get PCC but they refused to issue it without the appointment letter.

No my wife got the PCC from Surat. She only got Regional/Passport PCC.

Getting PCC from Ahmedabad is kind of hard.

    Take:

NOA2 color copy, DS 3032, Packet 3 instructions, I-864 fee paid reciept and the document cover sheet with bar code and a letter requesting PCC.

  6. Do that.

If her passport is less than 6 months old, then I believe you don't need a PCC from the regional passport office that issued the passport in the first place.

A PCC from the local/district PS is mandatory.

I got the latter first. Took me 3 weeks in Calcutta and then submitted it to the RPO, got my second PCC in a week.

No you got it all twisted. It's the other way. I just called NVC and they said if her passport is less than 6 months old, she only need Regional PCC, which is Passport PCC. And she doesn't need Distrcit PCC, which is Local PCC. But I'm gonna call Mubai Embassy just to be on the safe side.

  8. I know this is IR1 forum, but I got my K3 interview dec 16th at mumbai..

have they gotten any meaner or are they still a piece of cake compared to delhi???

EDIT: are they still keeping petitioners from attending the interview or did they change this? were you able to listen in to the interview?

    Hi Baltar,

As far as I know, if you show your American passport, they let you in but I don't think they allow you to be with ur spouse during the interview. But it all depends on the officer. As always, you can call the Mumbai ambassy and find out.

My personal opinion is to be there with ur spouse at the time of inteview if you can afford it financially and work wise.

  9. Hi all,

My wife sent the DS-230 documents last week. NVC has recieved the paperwork and now we are waiting for them to review the package and send us further instructions. I live in Chicago and I'm planning to go pick her up.

    Question:

If I'm present at the ambassy during her interview, does that affact her getting a visa? I mean, is it better if I am there during the interview or it doesn't make a differnce if I'm here or there?

    Is your case a CR1?

It will not cause the CO to refuse your wife a visa if you aren't there, but your presence can definately help support your case, as well as support your wife. :)

My advice is if you can afford the time off from work and expenses for the trip, then go.

    Thanks...

    Yes my case is CR1.

I'm trying to get time off from work. I'm praying that I can at least get a week off. Expenses are not a problem. I can manage that.

So They recieved our DS-230 on Nov. 4th. When do u think they will assign the interview date? My case is in Mubai ambassy.

By the way, congratulations on your fiance's visa approval!

You might want to check whether Mumbai allows the USC petitioner in for the interview. However, you can always go there for moral support and give her your passport so that she can show it to the CO as proof that you're outside waiting for her.

How do I contact them for the permission? Is the email best way?

    Thanks.

  10. Hi all

I was wondering if it would be a good idea if my spouse would accompany me for the interview. He wants to come here a day before interview and we would then fly out to USA after 2 weeks. Will he be allowed to enter the consulate ? he is a US citizen.

Also, will this create any problem or so, or is it better ? please help as he has done all the paper work for me including my forms and i dont know much abt it.

Which consulate you would be going through? With recent cases, Delhi and Chennai have let USC spouse enter consulate, but Mumbai doesn't allow. To be on the safe side, ask your husband to get a permission from whichever consulate you are going through by emailing their IV department.

We went through Mumbai consulate and my USC husband wasn't allowed inside, so were other USC's too going through Mumbai.

But none the less its almost is a good thing that your spouse is with you, even if he isn't allowed into the consulate, make sure you have his passport with you as a proof that he is standing outside.

Best of luck for the interview.

    Hi Trinket,

My wife sent DS-230 package and is waiting for further instructions. She's in Gujarat, Surat so she has interview at Mumbai. I'm planning to travel like a day before the interview so I can be there with her on the interview day. You think it's a good idea to make a trip and be there with her? Does it make the visa process better? And where can I email to get the permission? :help:
