  2. Hello maritoni , my parents are from Abra , sorry di ako marunong magsulat ng Ilocano .

Oh okey, ayos lang yan at least naintindihan mo rin naman:)

Oo naman , we were raised in an ilocano speaking household specially when my grandparents , both sides were still alive and besides , I am proud to be an Ilocano . I just wish I have learned to speak and other understand the other dialect of my mother , which is Itneg . Ang hirap kaya pag-aralan .

Oh may mga Itneg din pala sa Abra? :P akala ko s Kalinga at Apayao lang:)

as far as i know , Itneg ( Tingguians) is a cultural minority in Abra, since Kalinga is near Abra, on the northern most part ( I hope I am right in my geography), perhaps some settled there ; since my mother is an itneg, then I am too, proud of my heritage !

So Itnegs originally from Abra?i must have to google that:) thank's for sharing..

    I think so , yes .

  3. Sis, I was on your shoes 4 months ago.

Actualy we filed for k3-Non Immigrant Visa and last febuary 24 supposed to be it was my interview but then guess what we did?

I resched it to March 24 but we decided to pursue to CR-1 so we canceled my interview for k3 3 days before march 24....

Until My CR-1 case completed in NVC last april 24 and I got the June 18th interview..So here we are waiting for my CR-1 visa in the mail.

Sis, although it took longer than what we expected but it is ALL worth it. CR-1 is much much better than the k3.

    Good Luck

    Sweet_wifey22 (L)

    Thank you , sweet wifey.

  4. Hi mga sis,

I am looking for someone who is interested on working at home. I have been working as home based call center agent.

I need to focus na kasi sa papers namin ni hubby so I need someone who is interested on doing the same endeavor.

Send me a private message if you are interested. The pay is good for someone who is working in the comfort of your home.

    i am interested too .

  5. Hi friends. We passed our interview on Tuesday! I must tell everyone that if it is possible, you should attend your fiancee's interview. They did not ask for any evidence of relationship at all - I had letters of intent, many emails, chat logs, photos etc. but neither the pre-screener or the CO asked for them. (but of course you should bring those items with you).

It was funny, the CO was from the town right next to where I live in the US (Muskegon, MI. I am from Grand Haven).

They actually asked me more questions than my fiancee!

Thanks for everyone's help in preparing for our interview.

We asked to pick-up our visa and hopefully we will fly back together on the 4th of July.

    Wow! Congrats!

Funny too we have the same CO and My Husband is from Grand Rapids.

The Co and the pre-screener did not ask for the evidence of our relationship

We had our interview last 18th of june. And just today we got a text messages from Air 21.

Congratulations and all the best to you both .

    Go Blue!!

  7. K3 is a NON-immigrant visa with a path to AOS for people married to US citizens. Upon entry, you will still have to file for AOS. Currently, there are no advantages to the K3, but it was created to decrease the time spent apart when it took a long time for CR-1/IR-1 visas to be processed, and is now obsolete (or so I read).

IR-1 visas are "Immediate Relative" visas, available for couples who have been married for more than 2 years. If you have not been married for at least 2 years, you can get a CR-1 "Conditional Resident" visa, which is the same, except you have to file to remove conditions when you have been married for 2 years. The advantages over a K3 visa are that you do not have to adjust status, you enter the country as a US resident and do not have to apply to adjust status.

Also K-3 is almost $1000 more expensive to CR-1/IR-1

Beneficiary on CR-1/IR-1 visa can start working as soon as they arrive in US, where as its not the case with K-3.

Read the guides and you should fly through CR-1. That's the best choice right now. A lot of people got delayed last year because they filed for K-3 rather than sticking with stand alone i-130.

Before the IR1/CR1 Immigrant Visa used to take much longer then the K3,, But, these days the processing time is

    about the same.

    Please review the following link:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=compare

The K-3 is no longer a relevant visa type, it was developed at a time when I-130 for spousal visa was taking a year or longer to process through USCIS, in this case the K-3 allowed entry to the USA to wait for I-130 approval, so that the couple can either adjust status or interview for the spousal visa, since USCIS has begun approving I-129F AND I-130 on the same date, this eliminates the whole reason for K-3 (Entry and waiting for I-130 approval).

    K-3:

    I-130: $355

    I-129F: NONE

    Consulate: $131

    Adjustment Of Status: $1010 I-485

    ($1496)

    CR-1

    I-130: $355

    NVC I-864: $70

    NVC Visa fee: $400 ($355+$45)

    ($825)

    HOPE THIS HELPS A BIT (F) (F) (F) (F)

    Indeed , LOSTGURL--SOPHIA , thank you.

  13. hello guys, got questions, as I was reading some threads on how to drop K-3 in favor of cr-1? I was just wondering , why have to choose cr-1 over k-3? it just crossed my mind , what are the pros and cons? why do cr-1 and not k-3? honestly I am now confused, it would mean being with hubby anyway we choose , right? both my petitions have been approved , and maybe you can enlighten me ; i would very much appreciate it, thanks guys.

  14. My friends,

Where in the Philippines are you or your loved ones from? We'd be thrilled to know. Also, please provide a monicker or description of your town, city or province, if you could.

We'll start with myself. I am from Santa Cruz, a town just south of Davao City, and otherwise known as the Investors' Haven of Davao del Sur because of so many big enterprises with situs here. My fiance in Corona, California was born and raised in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, the Spanish colonial pueblo that was originally named La Ciudad Fernandina by our Castilian founders, in honor of King Ferdinand of Spain.

    How about you?

Hello , I was born and raised in Manila but both my parents are from the north, I can speak and understand Ilocano .

I've downloaded and complete the authorization form. I'm just at a bit of a loss at to what to say. i don't think (#*$(*#( stinking rotten (*#@@(#& will be very productive. hahahaha

  17. Hello friends.

Tomorrow I will make the looooong flight to Manila to accompany my Bing to her interview on Tuesday. We will have an engagement party the following weekend and then hopefully return together on July 4th.

Thanks to Visa Journey, we feel ready and confident for the interview.

    Please pray for us.

    Thanks,

    Matt & Bing

Good luck and have a safe journey.

  18. hey guys, my husband is a US citizen and we've been married for a year. We are expecting our interview shortly. Now the thing is that my husband came to my country for 6 days before we got married. At that time we had not really known each other but we had been family friends for ages. so he knew me, but not personally. Anyway so he came to visit my country and i met him the first day of his visit. We really liked each other and spent all of our time together and he proposed the next day only..i was reallyyy sure abt him so i said yes.. Now since he was leaving in less than 3 days we decided to get married the next day...we had a reallyyyy small ceremony at my home, with only our families present(10-15 people). We have pictures of that ceremony.

Aside from wedding pictures, we have a joint bank account, emails, chat logs, cards. We dont have fone bills because we use calling cards. my husband does have a record of the calling cards that he has purchased over these months.

now my interview is gonna be in two three months HOPEFULLY and im really nervous because ive read posts here which say that u need lotssss of wedding pictures and a big ceremony and all that. but we had suchh a small ceremony. I do have pictures of us together at restuarants and all the times that we have hung out, but please guys tell me is that enuf or do i have reasons to worry about my interview?? pleaseee reply!! thanks all

No need to worry , as you have other proofs to show your relationship, joint bank accounts , emails ,etc. ; it is not true that you need to have a big ceremony .

    good luck .

  19. We were approved on the 8th of June and have yet to receive any paper receipt/notification of our NOA 2 approval. I wonder is there any time frame that we should be looking at in order to receive said document.

Or has USCIS stopped producing them? I also notice that our online status has not changed either and wonder if again this is normal?

Like everyone just waiting and wishing everyone the best in this process.

    Arthur and Roberta

Both our petitions have been approved , and my hubby got a letter from USCIS last thursday after a week from approval ; same thing happened to me , up to now , my case at USCIS webiste says case recvd and pending and yet my hubby already got notice of approval ; I would suggest check on trinket's profile or any topic with her name on it , as always there is a link on her replies that may help you with what you need to do if in case your petition has been approved and dont need to wait for NOA2 , as you can proceed to the next step in your journey .

    Congratulations and good luck .

  20. A lot of cross-cultural bashing going on in this thread... how about we agree that its different strokes for different folks? If you have a filipino spouse & you are very happy that's great. If your spouse is from another country & you are happy that's great too. There's no need to compare the two like a couple of 3rd graders comparing toys during recess.

I don't think any of us are doing that. The post above is a joke. There are plenty of places, including the PI, where women tend to look past the superficial. Look at the original post about fat ugly guys.

I disagree; some people were serious & got their panties in a bunch. However the stereotype of Filipinos marrying fat and/or old men has truth to it... like all stereotypes it is a generalization & perhaps an exaggeration, but its based in fact. I'm sure it happens in marriages between other countries as well, so it certainly isn't just a Filipino thing.

Brad and Vika, I like you. Among the foreigners who have shared their opinions, anger, etc. in this post, I think you're one of the open-minded ones and not judgmental about us filipinas.

I think it just goes to show that all of us take pride of ourselves and where we came from. And none of us will allow just anyone to insult us.

Nowhereman, I agree with you but i think it's just so unfair that only filipinas are being criticized for that when in fact it's happening in the whole world. Why if a filipina marry an "ugly, fat, old man" (as others put it), it's bad, but if other nationalities do it, it's acceptable? Also, I think it's so shallow that people are judging others because they married someone much older or some "ugly, fat man". It's none of our business. It's their lives, their choices...If they are happy, let it be.

For the record, I'm not marrying an "ugly, fat, old man". In fact, I'm even a year older than my fiance and he's not ugly. But I just want other people to realize that their being so judgmental about us filipinas is not cool at all.

To foreigners claiming that their filipina wives are the best, I agree because I'm also a filipina and it's flattering to know that foreigners do appreciate filipina wives. To those who disagree that filipinas are the best wives, that's cool. We are entitled to our own opinions and I respect yours as well so I hope you will also respect ours. No need to insult our race.

I just have one word that I think all of should learn. That is RESPECT. Let's respect each other's opinions and choices and preferences. And also, stop being judgmental for goodness sake!

Goodluck to all of us in our visa journey!!! :)

Thank you for your input... we agree on this topic for the most part. As I stated in a previous post my Filipino wife and I joked with each other during my 2 trips to the Philippines when we saw a young, pretty Filipino with a guy twice her age and/or 3 times her weight. Like I also said if they are happy then that's all that matters... and yes of course you see these types of couples with women (and men) from other countries as well.

I must say the topic has generated a lot of responses , the bottom line here is , to each his own , different strokes for different folks as the others have said ; and to ms. colombia who started all this , now you know why a lot of americanos marry filipinas .

    Good luck to all !
