  4. If a lawyer is just a waste of money, then it is too late. I guess I will find out. Can't back out now. As of right now i'm just not satisfied with the communication. They also claim to have people in the Philippines (not sure how i can validate that), but they do have excellent references and testimonials on the BBB, and other places. I never expected it to take a month to get filed (of course i am just guessing that we will be filed soon - I don't know for sure yet.).

    They claim they weed out any errors before it gets to the filing station, and that they keep checking constantly with the office to make sure they aren't dragging their feet.

    Well, the guy i was dealing with went on vacation for a week and i had to badger them into making someone else work on my case.

    Its just frustrating that I feel like I can't get anything done unless i am hounding them. Maybe its all in my head. I thought I was patient before this, but then I fell in love and my patience is ALL GONE - I know you all know how i feel.

    hello, my hubby also hired a lawyer , we got married in June08 , before coming here he has already paid the law firm $2000+ for their services in May, he brought with him forms for me to sign and necessry docs that we need for filing, a week after the wedding got NSO copies of marriage certificate , sent it to them thru FEDEX , and what do you know, when hubby went home in July , petition hasnt been filed yet , i kept telling him to follow it up on them and they wont even talk to him personally or thru phone , long story short , it was only in Nov08 that they were able to file and approved in JUne 09 ; from then on he never called the firm anymore and we just proceeded with our approved petition, guess what , last week the secretary of the firm called on hubby and he gave her updates , that i already had my interview(K-3) and approved and awaiting my visa ;so she said they will now be closing our files ;

    hiring a lawyer is ok specially if you think they can expedite the process than by doing it yourself , but in my case it didnt and i dont think they can ever .

    you have no recourse but to continue with it , since you already paid him in full(?)

    good luck on your journey.

  8. NVC will send you a letter (NOA2) saying your petition has been approved ; then NVC will forward approved petition to the USEM and they will send a letter(PACKET3) to your fiancee thru courier,DHL.; it would take about 2-3 weeks after petition has been approved ; so your fiancee may get letter by the end of August or earlier ; the letter will contain case number and that she is elligible for interview and medical exams ; also in the letter are websites wherein she can check on which documents needed for interview and where she can download necessarily forms ; the letter will contain all informations .

    I hope this one helps , congratulations , good luck on your journey.

  9. hey calm down ok , she can do it using the NOA2 copy , whicch you got right? now , scan and email it to her , she can use that and go to St.Lukes , together with 3 2x2 pics with white background , her passport , and payment for medical fees in the amount of 10,400+ pesos ; St. Lukes is open Monday- Friday only ; medical exams will take 2 days , she has to be there early to avoid long lines, if she can be there at 6 so much better , so she can finish early ; hope this one may have cleared up everything .

  10. So as soon as we get the case number I can start calling the embassy to see if they recieved our application?

    And once they recieve our application, I can call the number to schedule the interview right away?

    Generally how long do they schedule the interview out?

    Thank you all for the replys.

    hi , for K visas , they do not schedule the interview , you will have to call USEM call center and ask for available dates or if you want the soonest sked there is ; correct me guys if I am wrong , USEM schedules interview dates for CR-1/IR-1 petitions only . oh btw , calling USEM call center cost 53pesos/minute.

    good luck on your journey.

  11. I think it is part of being assigned in Manila that they learn tagalog, CO's would greet him in the vernacular , that is for sure , there will be questions in tagalog, then he can answer in tagalog , the questions may not be that hard that he wont be able to comprehend, so i think he will be ok ;

    good luck .

  12. I'm not quite there yet but I tend to be prepared so I thought I'd ask. My girl is flying over solo. She wants to fly direct because she's worried about transfers. I'm all fine with that. The direct flight from Manila to LAX on Philippines Air each day at 10 seems to be the pony.

    Can I just buy the flight for her on Expedia and have her print it out and go up to the counter? I do it here for people all the time. I wonder if anyone has any experience about Manila. Thanks.

    Just So happens Naty is on Continental as I type this on her way here from Manila. I purchased the ticket on Expedia and she presented the printout at the counter in Manila with no problems whatsoever. But, you mention Philippine Air. I would check with their website for official check in requirements. Good Luck

    good thing this has been brought up , my hubby purchased my ticket thru expedia ; got an email from expedia and printed it out , and also printed my e ticket with Continental , so i have copies of both , so I dont need to ask my hubby a copy of his credit card and id?

    thanks guys , appreciate your inputs .

  13. hey guys , appointment letter is the letter sent to the beneficiary thru email when you have already called for a scheduled interview , that is :

    1) if you got your packet 3 ( a letter from USEM to your beneficiary stating approval of K!/K2/K3/K4 whichever your petition is , and telling that you are now qualified for an interview and medical exams ; it usually arrived thru courier as in my case thru DHL; from that letter , a website is stated there, wherein all necessary docs needed and application forms can be downloaded; now it you still havent received any letter yet from USEM : you may

    2) use NOA2 send it thru email to fiance and have that , pics , 3pcs 2X2 white background , her passport , and of course 10,400+ pesos for medical fees .

    She can go to ST. Lukes at 6 am and will start processing at 7am , better to arrive early so she can finish early too , and will be asked to come back next day for results and vaccination; the staff there will tell you where to go next , for Xray, blood tests and physical exams by a panel of doctors ;

    the next day , bring your the receipt with you and show the guard , he will tell you which floor to go , if it is in the second floor , that means ,your xray is ok , you will be given vaccinations , if not ok then you will be asked to go to back to xray ,or further laboratory exams ;

    I do hope this one will help you guys.
