  1. I want to list here the food that I like but he doesnt want to taste (or taste ever again)...

    1. Isaw (chicken intestine ...one street of the popular street food here in the PI)...he tried kikiam and fishball though

    2. Dinuguan (or what he called chocolate meat) he tried one sip but he said it tasted like iron

    3. Fish belly (the best part of fish...especially for bangus (milkfish))... he just didnt like the soft texture and the black color of it

    4. Tuwalya (ox tripe)...in kare-kare he just puked when he tried one bite...didnt the chewy texture

    5. Balot...(a fertilized duck egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell-from wikipedia) ...he tried it the second night he was here...oh and I saw him all green and he was about to puke...

    How about your fiance/fiancee?

    Other things I noticed... they don`t eat full meals for lunch...and no (heavy) snacks (e.g. spaghetti, pancit, burger, etc) between meals. Hotdog is not a breakfast. No hotdog on spaghetti (but he likes sweet spaghetti, he even tried Jollibee spaghetti). They don`t use spoon to eat rice but they use fork instead.

    My hubby doesnt go for filipino foods , he doesnt like something with garlic , kung minsan nga napapaisip ako , baka may lahing aswang( joke) , he is the very typical amerikano , who eats steak and bread ; but when we were on our honeymoon in Baguio I introduced him to Chowking , he kinda liked the sweet and sour pork , well it may not be filipino but he enjoyed it ; also i bought ensaymada , chicken and pork pie from Red Ribbon and he just loved it .

  3. hello everyone! I'm usc planning to see my SO for about a month this summer. i think the normal visiters visa is good for 21 days. do i need a different visa for longer or should i buy tickets for a month stay and then extend the visa when i get to the phils? thanks you guys for the help

    hello, as far as I know , you can stay beyond 21 days , but you will pay tax at the airport, that is aside from the travel tax they will collect before you leave , it happenend to my hubby , when he was here december 07 when we first met , he asked the official what the payment for , he said for staying over 21 days , he didnt know , he just told me about it when he got home, the second time he came he didnt tell me if he paid the same maybe ; but be sure to register your presence here to the US Embassy upon your arrival ;

  5. Hello Vjers. Finally, I got our case completed on 6/8/09 and we received our interview appointment letter the next day. I didn't expect it. I was planning to call the NVC on Friday to give them days, so I really didn't call them today. But, when I checked my email, I got the NVC letter with appointment date. This is awesome.

    Any VJers who have the same interview date as mine? July 28, 09, 8:30 am at Manila Embassy!

    Thanks to those who helped us in this journey..Glad it's almost over. :-)

    hope everyone else gets their case completion and interview date. This is the best time for case completion, because you will get your interview date right away. Good luck!

    congrats and good luck!

  6. If it is just you and your husband the income requirement has to meet or exceed 125% of the poverty guidelines which is currently 22,000 dollars. From my understanding the Philippines usually won't let you use a co-sponsor but that may not be the case. Good luck. Mike

    thank you .

    If it is a CR-1/IR-1 the affidavit is reviewed by NVC and they will allow it

    thanks for your reply.

    it's still 22,000? i saw a revised copy of the poverty guidelines or is this not applicable yet?

  7. my wifes birthday is coming soon. i wanted to get some of her favorite Goldilocks snack cookies/chips. we live in Oklahoma, so i'm going to have to order online from LA or Las Vegas. i can't remember the name of the cookie/snack that she loves so much & i can't find a pic of the bag on the websites. can you guys/ladies help me out here? i need to know the name.

    they come in a big yellow bag. they are sweet & chrunchy & they look like french bread sliced diagonally. i want to say it starts with a B like bisquites or something like that.

    could it be biscocho?

  8. ohhh i didnt know that you can apply for ssn khit wla kpa sa US sana pla ginawa n nmen un...anyway sis goodluck sa interview ;)

    hello guys , well is me again , got some question regarding poverty guidelines , I was checking on I-184 affidavit of support at USCIS website and was thinking of the poverty guidelines , does it mean that hubby should have an annual income of over $25,000 to be able to meet poverty guideline or else he will need to get a co sponsor?

    The amount needed to be earned will depend upon the amount of dependents. If it is just you and your husband the 125% of poverti will be $18,212 if living in the continental 48 states. Here is the link to the 2009 povert guidelines: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf

    can you please enlighten me on this , coz my hubby is going to send me his 08 tax return for my signature , then will apply for my SSN as he filed joint income tax return and can I have that 08 tax return photocopied after I sign as my copy before I send it back to him?

    You can make a copy (xerox) of the tax return for yourself. At this time you wil applying for an ITIN number. You will not be eligible for an SSN until you are in the US legally.

    can I use the it when called by the embassy for interview?

    Yes, you can use a copy for the interview, but you should have a copy of the W2s for proof of income also. I used tax transcripts to avoid needing to send the W2s.

    thank you.

    tinagalog ko na lng bka dumaan yung tga correct ng grammar d2 :lol:

    yes , as we were married june 08 , but then IRS told him that i need to apply for SSN before he can file for joint return so what he did was ask for an extension which IRS gave him and sent me SSN form for me to fill up

  10. hello guys , got question, i was just reading about affidavit and poverty guidelines , my question is , does my hubby's annual income has to be over $25,000 in order to qualify and need not get a co sponsor? can you enlighten me on this?

    and also he is going to send me 08 tax return for my signature as he filed for joint tax return , I plan on having it photocopied before sending it back ; also he will apply for my SSN on my behalf coz IRS needs it before he can file for joint return , I have already send him a certified copy of my passport and SSN signed application form;

    can I use this photocopied tax return when I have my interview with the embassy?

    thanks.

  12. You are fine...during my preparation for my interview..i printed all of emails from my husband from 2003 to Sept.2008...i also printed our chats conversation.They didnt look for that during my interview.Only the pictures of us together and our family pictures coz we have a daughter,my engagedment ring,my daughter's US Passport and the affidavit of support with supporting documents.They didn't even ask for my money remittance receipts,cards from the flowers he sent me and flight itineraries of my husband.I had like 5 kilos of evidence..nangawit lng kamay ko kc di nman nila hiningi..ayan tuloy dagdag sa bagahe nmin nung flight nmin kc ayaw ko nman itapon.

    Good luck sayo.

    thank you .

  13. Hello everyone!!!! I am just getting started with getting the K1 application together I have everything but a copy of my divorce papers which I was told I will be receiving at the beginning of the week!!!! My fiancee is telling me that she is having a hard time getting her birth certificate through NSO because she lost the one she got a couple of years ago when she got her passport. Has anyone heard of this or have any advice on what she should do?

    can have birth certificate delivered to your doorstep , since your fiance is in Pampanga better do it thru delivery , though i think they will charge you more since it is outside metro manila, but much better , no more hassle for her ;

    good luck!

  14. Is that your only proof of on-going relationship? Don't you have any emails, postal mail, money remmitances, etc? I never submitted any chat logs because we never chatted at all, we used phone calls and emails for communication. The CO will look for stronger evidence of bonafide relationship so don't fret about it.

    :thumbs:

    Thank you all guys, this website has been really of big help to all . Good luck to all of us!

  15. Hello everyone. Last month in May(5/13-5/24) I went to the philippines to visit my fiancee for the first time. While I was there we decided to get married. We got married in am on the 24th, as I had to be there 10 days to legally process this. At the present we are awaiting our marriage contract so I can process the petition for her to be here in the USA. I just read something from another post about a "Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage", which I haven't an idea about this. Can someone help me to understand where i stand and what needs to be done at this point in order for us to be together? I really wish this was a whole lot easier. When do i file? What are the fees look like? PLEASE...what are the next steps? I miss her so much:(

    If this is necessary, I visited Digos City, Davao del sur, in Mindanao. Her mom works in the superior court of Bansalan which is her hometown and the court we got married at. If you need more info, please ask me. I'm desparate for some guidance. I'm trying to remain positive. Thank you all in advance.

    you could have gotten 'legal capacity to contract marriage from the embassy immediately after your arrival , it is a prerequisite before you are given a marriage license .

  16. Thank you for you for your reply , I can heave a sigh of relief.

  19. hey VJ members , it's me a gain, gosh I have never ran out of questions , just few minutes ago I posted a new one and now here I am again; I have just recently , as in just now , realised that my the texts of my conversation with my hubby has all been gone , I saved them in message archive at YM , and our pc has just been reformatted , all along I thought if I saved them , they wont disappear , and now they are gone , why do I do now? and I have compiled every single proof that I have and i have really planned on printing all of them , I wouldnt care if it will be hundreds of pages , but now I dont have anything to print now , well except the conversations for today, what am i going to do? help please!

  20. If that last updated date ( June 4, 2009 in your case) changes, that means your case was touched ...or scanned ...

    Looking at your timeline ... I would venture to guess you will be receiving a NOA2 soon ... or heaven forbid a RFE ...

    RFE , who will they asked it from? me or my hubby? I have compiled everything from my birth , CENOMAR, marriage certificates(NSO copies) , letters and all other evidences that I can provide as proofs of relationships.
