Hi everyone! I got my EAD last month, and soon as I received it,I started sending resume online, filling out applications online. It's been a month now and there are no calls I receive for job interview at least.
How did you guys get a job? Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.
I am not picky, I just want a job. I've been trying sites like snagajob.com, i applied at DD online and it is so frustrating how they could say you are not qualified for the job only after answering few simple questions. I find it unfair for them to screen their applicants that way.
I am getting frustrated.
Try craiglist.org, mostly Filipina here in our place work at Cub or other groceries....
Do your have TOR? I am a public school teacher in the Phil and I am qualified to teach in College in our country with many national seminars and certificates, but since I am in America they have high standard since we have different curriculum. In my case they need a course-by-course credential evaluations in my TOR.
It depends upon the work and what they requires.
Good luck!!!
Yeah i brought all my credentials.I tried checking schools here in NJ, il be applying for substitute teacher certificate wherein my TOR will be evaluated since we have different grading systems in Phils and then hopefully il be able to work as substitute teacher. There was one school who did not ask for any teaching certifications, they simply asked if i have my masters.Good thing I have finished my masters. It will take time to get teaching job that's why I am tryin my luck in finding whatever jobs available.
Try www.careerbuilder.com. Good Luck on job hunting!i check that too everyday:) thanks.
Yep, it's hard to get teaching job here in US. I paid for credential evaluations that I will use for licensing or employment purpose. Mine is just $125 combine bachelor and masteral and that evaluator is accredited by NACES, some asked for $250-$350 for combine credentials (Course-by-Course).
I do not yet receive the evaluations but I probably try my luck in what ever job available too.
because it's hard to find teaching jobs.

Ok my fiance is 18 turning 19 within a month.
I am currently filling forms out. And preparing them to be sent in.
Yes some may think im crazy cause of her age. I thought about it many times. *But I Love her & am Happy with her*
But honestly At the beginning Never imagined being with her.
But in time things grew into more & couldn't get her out of my mind.
She is a great person & honestly not looking for money Thank god.
But down to my question.
has anyone gone to the interview and know what they say about that age gap?
Specific tactical questions etc?
My fiance is very shy and that is about all that I worry about.
And what issues that may cross our paths.
Idea's Suggestions Greatly appreciated.
I did hire a lawyer for the papers as I have a few complicated issues. in my thoughts.
example Taking time to perfect paperwork. etc. a bit of money for help to get it processed and done is better then spending 6months on my own to make sure it's all perfect.
I was going to do it on my own. until i read a bit deeper...
Thank you.
My husband married her ex-wife when he was also 35 yo and the Filipina is also 19 yo... she got her visa and no problem about the age difference. You must prove that you have genuine relationship. There were Filipina who were denied because of the age difference nowadays, but around 40 years difference...
Some Filipina are mature at the age of 18 but some are not, my husband has a regret of marrying his ex-wife when she was 19 yo. She was not ready for married life, she didn't know what she wanted... she came here for marriage but few months afterwards forgot being a wife. Stole $300 at the age of 19 here in US, have bf in the Philippines, Have bf's in US, working but hardly share for the bills but bought all what she wants materially, has a nasty mouth, and got pregnant with another man. During the divorced wanted 50% of the house value which she never paid and her name was not even there. Since she is the wife as divorce settlement my husband is paying $10,000 of her student loan.
There are still young Filipina who has genuine heart to love a person, what happened to my husband might happen or not to others. Every one is different, but I do believe that there are many Filipina who has a genuine motives in marrying a foreigner and there are many Filipina who are good hearted
-
I am currently under the process of divorce, my wife being the visa holder. After I left the house due to the fact that I was suspicious of her elaborating a case of abuse against me (in Puerto Rico it is under the law #54), she sold everything I had (personal belongings, things which I had before the marriage, making them private) and I filed a complaint in the police department. This is just so you can get an idea of the immigrant which is right now gaining access to U.S. citizenship.
What concerns me is that I know she is currently pregnant of a man whom I know the name. I even know what gender will the baby be. I want to know how can I get evidence that she is pregnant or evidence that she had a daughter?
In Puerto Rico, as well as the U.S., having an extra-marital child is hard evidence of poligamy, and is punishable by law. I need to present this to the local immigration office and to the divorce court as well.
I will appreciate all help you can give me. Thanks.
My husband's ex-wife committed an adultery, and she got pregnant by a Vietnamese. She took pills when her and my husband were together but she allow herself to get pregnant with other man because she believe that this man is rich
She is already US citizen and even petitioned her mother with the help of my husband. They were together for 6 suffering long years.
This Filipina has a nasty mouth, stole $300, had many bf's (there are pictures to prove it and persons that testified), had a bf in the PH during their marriage, even her mother and her aunt which were living in my husband house and my husband was supporting them, knew about this adultery. And more, and more nasty and crazy things she did.
My husband asked for a divorce but she wanted to sale the house and get 50% of the value, my husband was totally disagree on that because she never paid for the house, and hardly in paying the bills provided that there were 3 Filipina that staying in my husband's house.
There are proofs of adultery, pictures of her and that Vietnamese with her mother and Aunt and persons to testify, etc..
But my husband decided to have the settlement instead of the court because she might get more even she is the one committed the adultery because she is entitled to what he has even we can tell how bad she is.
At the end, my husband is paying $10,000 of her student loan
and she got the $14,000 car because this Filipina asked to transfer the name of the car to her.
She went here in US with nothing, supported by my husband even the family and at the end did all the crazy stuff... she even get money out of what she did to her ex-husband.
She want to go back to my husband, and sent me nasty emails and texts... and they already divorced. At the end she realized her mistake but it was too late.

My sweet little Claudeth is a wonderful, giving woman but is also the most irresponsible person I have ever met in my life. I never seen anyone melt a bar of soap before but she does it. She can plug up the shower drain quickly and just loves to take 30 or 45 minute showers twice a day. She leaves the lights on constantly and the refrigator open all the time. She will fill her plate full of food and eat about 1/4 of it and the rest goes in the trash.
I am totally at my wits end. I have been dealing with this for 4 1/2 years but have made no progress in teaching her conservation. I love her very much and would never dream of getting rid of her but have been thinking of sending her to the Philippines for a visit.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have heard comments off and on but nothing consistant with what my little consumer does.
Well sorry to hear that, but there are many Filipina who are very responsible and some are not. Be thankful that she is just irresponsible....
My husband married a young Filipina before. She was very irresponsible, etc... but my husband deal with her for 6 suffering long years, to save the marriage until he gave up because it was too much.
1. She doesn't know how to cook (she never cooked when they were together), most of the Filipina is good in taking care of their husband
2. She hardly clean the house and always left her stuff any where and asked her husband on that time to clean it
3. Stole $300 when she was a cashier
4. Had many bf's during their marriage
5. Have a nasty mouth
6. Always in the bar with other men
7. Working, but hardly share for the bills payment and let her husband worked 2 jobs while she was buying all her wants and going to the bar
8. Threw a plate to her aunt, ruined the door
9. Committed an adultery and got pregnant with other man because this man is rich
10. During their divorce asked my husband to sale the house and get 50% of the value
11. My husband is now paying her $10,000 student loan
And many many more crazy things she did, these were true and there are papers to prove it and persons that testified.
So you are so lucky that your wife is just irresponsible, because we have all our weaknesses... some Americans might experience the same and some in the future

Just done medical at st lukes a week ago....i have a question on how can we able to know if we pass for the medical!!! i only did it for two days... in first day, i did all, physical assestment and others, on second day o got a 4 shots and the chest x ray result...do i pass???? or not???
You passed, they probably sent your passport already at the US Embassy. Bring the vaccination supplements in US because you need it for AOS (Adjustment of Status).
St. Luke's probably sent your passport already at the US Embassy for interview (In my knowledge you already passed). After visa approval bring the vaccination supplements in US because you need it for AOS (Adjustment of Status).

Thank you for the greetings, guys!
By the way, belated Happy Thanksgiving!!!
My next question now is: What's the next step?
According to the K1 Process Flowchart, I should apply for a SSN. Is that correct? I hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance!
It depends upon the State, in California that's the ruling. I think she is from California... I am from Minnesota they didn't allow me to have the ssn# a day after I arrived, I tried it, they said I have to wait until 2 weeks, because they said it's not yet in the system I know there are different rulings from different state.e
In Modesto California or maybe in all city in CA, 60 days before the I-94 expire they allow an individual to have the state ID, my friend in Modesto, CA need to have her EAD card before she have the permanent in driving (She was not allow to have the state ID because it was over 60 days before her I-94 expires, I applied for my State ID 2 times (Single and then with married name) just to fulfill the 60 days requirements and I have my permanent now) and not eventually the driver's license and need to wait until 90 days after I took my permanent ,I do not have a license in the PH even I know how to drive now. In DMV California Handbook the list of require documents are stated there.
Thanks
FYI, we're living in Austin, TX.
Sorry, I misunderstood it. I apologize.
In my case, a day after I arrived I applied for SSN# waited for almost 1 hr but asked me to go back after 2 weeks.
I also applied for state ID for identification purpose (it took 2 weeks after my application) , opening a joint account after marriage, beneficiary enrollment, credit card transaction. I also used it for AOS filling.
I read in this forum that in TX you are not allow to have a state ID or to have written test for driving if you do not have the EAD Card or GC? I am not sure of it because I am not from TX. I advise you to call your local DMV Office or licensing center if you want to have the state ID, it's your choice or it's optional if your allow to have it.
In my case, I also used my state ID in my written test for driving because in our place we need to know how to drive. I also shown my passport and unexpired I-94, DMV officer also asked for the AOS receipt but on that time I just filled it and I do not yet receive my NOA1 but I was able to take my permanent.
You need the marriage license... after your wedding you can apply for AOS for $1,010+ I-693 expenses. Be sure about the documents you will send because I and my husband checked the documents required many times but still we have the RFE.
I hope it helps. Thanks

You can file for you SSN the day you arrive, No need to wait a certain time.
Not advisable according to VJ's Step-by-Step Guide to Getting SSN
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=ssn
As a K-1 Visa Holder you are eligible to receive a SSN upon producing a valid I-94 (unexpired). Do not wait until you only have a few weeks left until your I-94 expires to file for a SSN. Many SSA offices will not allow you to file for a SSN if your I-94 is about to expire (generally 14 days prior to the expiration on your I-94).
On the other hand, you should also not file for a SSN too soon either. You should wait 2 weeks after you arrived in the US before applying for a SSN. If you go too soon your record of arrival will not be in the SAVE-ASVI system yet, and it will require manual verification from the USCIS. As this will add weeks to the period it takes to process the SSN, it is advisable to attempt to wait the two weeks to be safe. If you have waited the 2 weeks and they tell you they can not verify you arrival record via the SAVE database, you may allow them to to process it (but remember the potential delay for manual verifications). You can ask if they will check the computer again for you in a few days or return personally to have them look again -- thus eliminating the manual verification. The manual verification will require the SSA office to file a G-845 with the USCIS.
Yes, this was the answered of the lady at the SSA Office because after I arrived I applied for SSN# but asked me to come back after 2 weeks because my records is not yet on database on that time.

Can anyone tell me what happens after you get your NOA2 and it is sent to the NVC? What do I need to do at this point to help the process along?
In my case, almost 2 weeks after we received the email notification of approval my husband call the NVC and talked to the live operator to check the status of the petition maybe 3 times or more, but the NVC gave information which was not updated, they said that they do not received it but only to find out that it was sent to the US Embassy. Same what was happened to my friend, until she received the letter from the US Embassy.
3 days after the packet received by the US Embassy we already set an appointment for interview even without the letter from the embassy, because it took time if you wait it but sometimes it's hard to track the packet where is it. I printed the email notification and shown it to St. Luke's for medical.
-
I received my NOA2 dated on Nov 12 but neither my fiancé or I have received a letter or anything since. Is this a bad thing? How do I find out the status of our petition once the NVC gets it? How do I tell if the embassy received it? I don't really know what's going on so far.
Hi, contact NVC and talk to the live operator... my husabnd kept on calling them, but they kept on saying that they do not received it until we found out that it was already sent to Manila US Embassy.
.
3 days after the embassy received our packet my husband was able to set an interview appointment, He call 3 times
because the embassy operator didn't allow him (2 times same operator) she said we have to wait for the letter, but he tried to call again in a different time and he finally set it, print the confirmation and shown it to St. Lukes for medical.
I also have a friend, she thought that her paper was stuck at NVC, her fiance kept on calling them and they didn't tell any progress to their paper until they received the letter from the embassy.
In my experience and knowing the experience of my friend... sometimes even when we call NVC they do not give the accurate or update information.

I know it has been a long time since i have been on here but I couldn't think of anywhere else to go to try to get the information I am looking for.....I know if you read my old posts I was getting used by my ex and lied to everyway possible the last straw that i had with her was when she told me that the name she was using was not hers and that she got all fake birthcertificates and passport (we went to china for a vacation) Now I found out she is doing the same thing to another guy.....how do I report this to the correct authorities it is obvious that she is hiding something and is just trying to use people to get here!!!! should I just mind my buisness and forget about it or should i try to contact iscis ? Thank you all for your help and advise .......And just for the people that might remember be you were all correct but i was to pig headed and stubborn to listen to your advice!!!!!....I am happy now and you all have been great to me and my new fiancee here .....hopefully we will be together soon .....and I found out what the true filipino woman is like not all about money and just love ........of coarse i have another sign on here now because i was to embarrassed about the past
Hi, for me better to report that, that would be a help to other since she is doing it again.
Yes there are many Filipina who has a genuine motives, but honesty there are users too. My husband married a Filipina before me.
Her aunt who was in US on that time told my husband that her niece is a very nice person, but few months after she arrived stole $300 when she was a cashier, had many bf's during their marriage, nasty mouth, forget being a wife after she became independent and got her citizenship, have bf in PH, and at the end committed an adultery and got pregnant with another man. During their divorce she asked my husband to sale the house and have 50% of it, provided that during their marriage she hardly pay any bills, all she earned is just for her and more and more horable stuff she did. Her aunt and her mother were living in my husband's house and they even knew that this Filipina has an affair to a "rich" guy. These are all true, there are documents to prove it and persons that testified.
I know it's not good to tell the negative attributes of other because no one is perfect, but what she did gave Filipina a bad image and it was too much but I hope she will change because there is always room for change.
There are many Filipina who are nice and has a genuine intentions, I do believe on that.

Not sure how to buy plane tickets for my Filipina when the time comes.
Normally when I buy a ticket, I just print it out, they want to see the credit card at the airport, and I don't know if I can get her a credit card without a social security # and send it to her.
And if she goes to a travel agent, it might cost more, I can get a better deal on the internet
So what do I do, What do you do with your girl, my girl is really poor, she has no credit cards or anything
My husband bought a ticket for me online more than 3 weeks before my flight, then sent it to me by emai and I printed out, then he also received the actual ticket and sent it to me. If the ticket will purchase in US she will pay 1,620 pesos for travel tax at NAIA and plus 750 pesos for terminal fee as pre-requisite, I do not know if the payment increase now, it was 3 months ago. There is no problem if you buy the ticket online and here in US.

Hi, did you sign up at USCIS website? www.uscis.gov can be help to update to you in your paper.
More or less about 10 days you will received your NOA1, then few weeks you will receive your biometric schedule. In my case, Nov 2 we filed it, Nov 4 they received it, Nov 10 NOA1, Nov 23 I received the biometrics schedule for Dec 10... we went to the ASC St. Paul, MN office to change it but they offered to have it the same day (Nov. 23), some ASC office allow it, but some are don't.

Hi there,
I brought two albums of pictures for my interview last November 19. I also had 2 clearbooks for the documents:
1 album for wedding pics
1 album for our vacations together ( contains pics of my parents, my in-laws, friends and relatives- with a caption for most important pics
1 clearbook- containing important documents-in order :
marriage cert
birth cert
nbi clearance
police clearances
Hubby's passport biographic page
my previous ID's bearing my maiden name
Hubby's itineraries/ boarding passes
receipts of his gifts to me
receipts of hotels
other receipts pertaining to the visa processing
money remittances
my in laws' notes and emails to me
1 clearbook- containing our emails and chat logs
By the way, let me just share my experience on my interview:
The pre- screener only asked for 5 pics! OH My! I brought 2 albums- heavy!!
asked for recent emails and chat logs
asked for money remittances
Had I known that the embassy will only ask those from me, I would not have brought 2 heavy albums with me. hahaha
I only even gave our wedding pics!
I was never asked for the affidavit of support since I am a CR1 visa applicant ( Hubby submitted already). The K1 applicants were all asked for the AOS.
The pre-screener asked more questions than the consul did.
It went good by God's grace.
Goodluck on your interview date.
I and my fiance also brought too much stuff...
200+ snail mails
300 pages of emails, chat and e-cards
an album of pictures
It was too heavy....
Then the pre-screener told me just few pictures and recent emails. The pre-screener interviewed my fiance and was not me
, even my fiance answered all the questions for me. It happened that the pre-screener lived in MN for few months and he was asking a lot of stuff about our state. The consul just asked me few questions and I don't think he was listening eventually he congratulated me...

Hello Vj members,
I will be flying to the USA soon and will be with my loving husband at last.
I still need to do a lot of readings on what to do next when I am already in the US.
But I would appreciate if you would post the things that a newly-arrived migrant must do right away once she arrives at the US. Kindly post also when to get those things done.
I think I have read some before but I already forgot about them as I have been busy with the matter at hand- that is getting the medical done, having the interview, packing and everything!
Thank you all for the help. Now, I will be with my husband at last! It is such a great feeling! I also thanked God for giving us all these favors.
I really do appreciate your help.
Norvelyn
Have a safe travel. I replied here and made it for 1 hr, but when I read your profile your visa is CR1, I thought yours is K1. So I edited it. Take care

Welcome to US. Well as soon as possible you will start some documents filling. But enjoy being together first.
SSN# -2 weeks after you arrived you can able to apply for ssn#
State ID- It's optional to apply for State ID but it serves as your Identification. NOTE: In California 60 days before I-94 expires you can apply for State ID
You can file for you SSN the day you arrive, No need to wait a certain time.
State ID - Not gonna happen in Texas until you recieve your EAD or GC, No Driver Licences either until you get either EAD or GC.
It depends upon the State, in California that's the ruling. I think she is from California... I am from Minnesota they didn't allow me to have the ssn# a day after I arrived, I tried it, they said I have to wait until 2 weeks, because they said it's not yet in the system I know there are differnt rulings from different state.

Well I thought she is from California. I misunderstood she just flew in California...sorry, but I hope my response will help others esp those who are in California, Minnesota and other state with the same rulings.

I wasn't sure which forum to post this, but here goes....
My fiance is arriving soon to through San Francisco under a K-1 visa. I would like to meet her there to decrease her stress in a busy airport. When I looked at several sources at the airport, it gave me the impression that there are actually two exits out of customs. Is this true? I was hoping there would be just one.
Also, I was looking for and didn't get any clear answers on documentation needed. I know she'll need her visa, passport, and other documents that she will get on the plane, but my sources didn't list anything else. Are there any other documents, such as copies of anything or support documents that she needs for customs?
Hi, I am from Minnesota and here only one exit I do not know in CA, at Port of Entry they just need the envelop (visa), Passport and Visa, she will fill up the I-94 and customs declaration in the Plane. I was able to fall in line in the customs and just asked few questions.

hi vj people...need some enlightenment here...my interview is on dec.1...just got my fiance affidavit of support evidences and i found out that some of his important documents he used just doug instead of douglas ,infact in his tax papers he used doug...In his birth certificate his real name is douglas...will this be a problem during my interview ?will they question me about his identity or his name?do he need to get a sworn affidavit that affirm doug and douglas is the same person?
thank you
Hi, you know we Filipino we are so stict regarding names, but I think that documents will be ok.

hello. i submitted my I29F and im so worried of getting an RFE. do you think this is enough info to pass. based on your experieces.
i submited 2 photos of us together. barding passes, hotel reciepts for 3 rooms from orbiz, luggage tags, and credit card statments showing where i purchased the hotel and plane tickets.
is that enough proof of showing we met in person.. i was going to submit my passport but i have lost it.. will that be a problem.. do u think i will get an RFE? im so worried!! has anyone else had a problem for not having there passport?
Hi, I think it's enough... in the interview you will show again the proofs. If you are chatting save the chat and print, also print the emails showing that you really love each other and will to get marry.

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of you for making my journey to the US a very good one!

I'm just wondering how most the people on here met their lovers initially...over the internet or in person? I ask because I wonder the number of couples the consulate deals with that met over the internet as oppossed to meeting in person initially. I met mine on a dating site and then we met in person. It makes me wonder at times if the consulate sees couples that meet online at first as more of a red flag than not. I don't see why they would, granted that I'd expect most of them met online.
Hi, I met my husband online(Filipinaheart), then we met in person. My husband married a Filipina before and on that time it was just by mail, before around 2002 it was not so hard to apply for visa she was not even interviewed, she become US Citizen and even petition her mother with the help of my husband but afterwards committed an adultery and more worst things she did.
I do not know the percentage, but mostly Filipina are just met online or by mail before. Some live happily ever after and some are not. Some Filipina were denied for K1 visa, my friend know someone who was denied because the Filipina is too young and her fiance was too old, the consulate who interviewed her degraded her personality because of the money she has been receiving from that American.
I think, it's not about how a couple meet each other (online or in person), but love that they share to each other.

I see from reading the forums that many people attempt early "walk-ins" to take care of their biometric requirements, as opposed to just waiting for the appointment date. What is the purpose in this? Is their some benefit to the biometrics being accomplished prior to the appointed time? The logical side of my brain tells me that any deviation from the prescribed appointment times given by USCIS, could potentially gum up the works more then it could potentially speed things up. What am I missing here?
I received my biometrics schedule also today, eventually I and my husband went to the ASC in St. Paul, Minnesota just to change the schedule because my husband is not available on Dec 10 and I only have my permanent in driving so I need my husband to drop me there. They are the one who offered us to have the biometrics today because only one was there. They were very accommodating and they were all kind. After my biometrics there were around 7 came for there biometrics, I am so lucky today.

Can you give me an idea about substitute teacher certificate? What I did is credential evaluation as part of the requirements for licensing... I can use it for employment purpose but that is not a certification. If I am qualify for licensing examination I need the fingerprinting too. Here the fingerprinting is just $10-$15.
I know what you feel, we both working in the Philippines, buy whatever we want... then we are here jobless!!!
But we may not have a job as of now but we have someone who loves us... and we must be thankful for that. For sure we will have our luck.
