First of, CONGRATS !....
Unfortunately I have got bad news for you. Your GC card production will be delayed due to restructuring within USCIS.
Look at my post related with this subject. Here is the link.
-
You can go anywhere for anytime period If you are US citizen.
You do not have to come back to US except to renew your passport which can also be done at US Embassy.
There is no limitation or permission to get.
-
Now I know why it is taking so long to print GCs. Because USCIS is changing I-90 (GC) lockbox center from LA to Phoenix that is why every GC production has been affected since the end of April 2009. They actually started to work on transition on April 28, 2009. It will take a while to receive the GCs.
That is just your luck, what can I say ?
-
It does not matter, they are all related with the GC production.
-
Here is the answer. They are changing the location that is why it takes time to print GCs.
USCIS changes lockbox to Phoenix for I-90 Applications
I guess, now it makes sense. All the GC productions unfortunately will be delayed.
-
How are you ? That is really strange that you haven't received your GC yet. I am really surprised.
No Interview letter yet, still waiting. Have a nice trip. Yes you can go with the I-551 stamp on your passport, it is exactly like a GC anyway.
Could you please empty your mail box? I can not send any messages to your mailbox.
-
That is true, I have really noticed that delay too.
I don't know but it seems to me USCIS has not been working for almost a month ;
NO GREEN CARD PRODUCTION
NO INTERVIEW NOTICE LETTER
What is going on ?
-
First you find a job, it takes long time to find a job too. Even if the employer wants you to start working, you can say your CGC is on the way by showing "the Welcome Letter" which is a proof that you have been approved as a Conditional Permanent Resident. If you have a stamp of I-551, that is much better which is actually CGC on your passport. Marikiya_dhr has one for example. She can work by just showing that stamp & SS #.
It is so weird, GCs used to arrive in mail about 1 week after "the Welcome Letter", but it didn't happen like that in this month of May for so many people. Now I'm asking myself "Is USCIS working ???????"
-
Yes you can now. For curiosity, haven't you applied for EAD ? You would get SS # too with the EAD.
Just your passport is enough. If you want to change your last name take your Marriage Certificate too.
Here is the catch, in order to assign a ss # to you, SSA clerk should be able to see your status on their computer system which is periodically updated by DHS. Give a little bit time to go to SSA office.
GOOD LUCK !.....
-
Forget about EAD & Biometrics for a second, are you telling me you have been waiting for 15 months to get approval after the AOS interview ????? This is ridiculously too long !... If I were you I would go to US Senator and/or US Congressman/Congresswoman of my state.
-
You had better make address change through your local PO in Illinois,
so they can forward the 1st Class Mail to NJ. Unfortunately, there is not much communication among USCIS offices, that is why some offices update your address, others don't. There is not much you can do about it, from now on everything depends on your luck.
-
Maybe you haven't read my previously posted threads but
It is completely very bad idea to change your address during AOS process.
You have caused a big confusion for USCIS which is not perfect governmental office.
Even they have changed your address partially, it will take them so much time to update your address completely & forget your old address. You haven't seen the bad situation yet, some people's GC were mailed to their old address & were lost, and guess what they had to wait about 8 months to get the GC plus they had to pay $370 for I-90 application. I know it is very frustrating. Hopefully it won't happen to you,
Btw, Welcome to our state, NJ !..... GOOD LUCK !......
-
Look at both envelopes & tell us where they were mailed from.
I mean from NBC in MO or your USCIS local office ? Yes, this kind of situation is possible.
I guess NBC wants more evidence to put it in your folder & send it over to your local office for
AOS interview. Look at the dates : RFE deadline is June 24th & Interview Date is July 23rd.
There is exactly one month time difference. Complete & mail RFE ASAP &
start gathering other evidences for interview.
GOOD LUCK !.....
-
That is very normal, don't be panic yet. You will get NOA until the end of this month.
It usually takes 10-14 days, but don't forget USCIS did not work yesterday which was
Memorial Day Holiday.
-
First you look at the GC dates, you can easily see if it is conditional or not.
For future reference, the rule is as follows mathematically
{Interview/AOS Approval Date} - {Wedding Date} < 2 years ========> 2-year Conditional GC
{Interview/AOS Approval Date} - {Wedding Date} > 2 years ========> 10-year Unconditional (Permanent)GC
-
How about 2008 Jointly Filed Tax Return ? ( Of course if any of you have worked in 2008 ).
Keep in your mind that Jointly Filed Tax Return is considered as one of the most important
primary evidences for bona fida marriage.
-
Nothing is impossible for USCIS !......
-
Yes you are absolutely right about this. USCIS does not give you a damn about it except your money.
They know that you need them, they just take the advantage of it.
-
If they want to give you hard time, they give you. What can I say ?
Every clerk & every ASC might be different too. I guess it depends how busy they are.
That clerk who refused you is kind of mean person. Sorry about that your time & money lost.
-
I totally agree with the above post by ELW. First of all, you have to find out what happened to your case.
I mean you were approved or not ? Why does it take so long to approve after the successful interview ?
Almost 6 months is too long to get the answer. After you do this inquiry, then you apply for the renewal of EAD
on-line which is no charge.
GOOD LUCK & STAY COOL !.....
-
When you apply for I-751, they automatically give you 1-year extension NOA. It is like a GC.
In the mean time, your actual GC will be expired, but If you use this expired GC and
1-year GC extension NOA together it is considered a GC which is valid for another year.
In your case, I think they haven't sent this NOA, instead you got I-551 Stamp on your passport which is
basically same thing. Another thing, since your case was transferred to CSC, you won't have any 2nd Interview.
I-751 is usually completed within 1 year, so you do have another 2 months until July. I am sure
You will get 10-year GC until the end of July 2009.
GOOD LUCK !.... & STAY COOL

That officer just made it up. He just gave her a hard time.
Believe me % 90 of ASC will accept before the actual app. date. I can show you so many examples here at VJ threads that people have done it earlier as walk-in. Here is one of the threads for you, I have suggested someone to go earlier for Bio App.
-
If people @ SSA don't want to give SS # to K-1 Visa Holders. Tell them to look at their own website.
Maybe they can learn something. Every office makes up different rules & stories.
This is taken exactly from FAQ section of their own web site.
-
You have to go to original office, you can not change it to the other one.
And also make sure you prove that you & your spouse have moved together & still living together,
I am sure IO will ask some questions about this move during the interview. You have to take some documents with you to prove that you are still together at the new address. Also one last thing, make sure you tell IO about the address change. If you don't your GC will be probably lost at the old address or will be returned to USCIS as "undeliverable".

CONGRATS !.....
I am sorry to say that you will get your GC late due to restructuring
within GC Handling & Production Department of USCIS. If you have received I-551 Stamp on your passport, then no problem. That stamp is same as GC anyway. When you receive your plastic GC, please let me know, I will update it on our spreadsheet. GOOD LUCK !........
