Last night at 11.44am I got 4 notification texts, so I checked my account to see....
 
 

He should be fine - he has a case in progress.
 
From a quick google: "You are still a permanent resident, even if your green card has expired. On that basis, many people have chosen to simply apply for U.S. citizenship after their green card has expired, or not bother to renew the green card if it expires while they're waiting for a USCIS decision on their citizenship application." 

Still no update, but my husband nearly has all 100 questions down!  We're still working on the civics ones which I think are harder for foreigners.  I mean I lived in Costa Rica for four years and I couldn't answer 10 random civics questions about that country...  I know basic stuff.  I think...
 
Yesterday we had trivia night at our apartment and I was all like "if any of them are citizenship questions we'll rock!"  None of them were.  And we didn't rock.  Can you believe they didn't ask what year Louisiana was purchased?  Or what war Woodrow Wilson was a general in?!  But we did have pizza and beer, so a good night, right? 

Thanks for asking. No update from either USCIS or our family so we are just staying put and waiting for things to get to be point where we have no time left but to go and spend time with him. I'm not going to bother USCIS anymore because I feel like it's just wasting their time and my energy so I'll just wait it out.

It sucks to wait, I get that.  My status ONLY JUST changed last week from "biometrics have been scheduled" to "inline for interview" and that took 49 days alone.  Some offices are busier than others, and I was hoping to process quicker than 49 days as so many other Boston filers did it in less than a week.  Now I look back for Boston filers and I am just grateful it didn't take me 78 days like some of the filers from October of last year.

You applied before the elections, yes, but you applied during an election year----I believe that's what @lovelyalex was getting at when saying it could play into the delay around your oath scheduling.  EVERYTHING got pushed back by USCIS starting last year because of the increased number of applications since then, including oath ceremonies.
 
Some offices only hold oath ceremonies once or twice a month, some will only hold them after they reach a set number of approved applicants.  You can check oath ceremony schedules for your specific field office---that may give you an idea as to when they usually fall, maybe give you a rough idea of when you may get scheduled.
 
 

Hi, vj family am finally home too much traffic !!! My appt was 10 am but oh my goodness if was full and short staff . My interview started at 12 a lot of questions but I passed. The only thing is I can't get a oath letter until Monday or after. I thanked everyone who helped me on this journey. I will post when my oath letter arrives . Good luck to everyone!!!!

You know, you really are one of the most responsive and helpful person I have interacted with on ANY forum. I really hope you get your interview soon and are done with this ASAP.

Really sorry to hear this, I would suggest not waste your time, and fly out and support FIL and the family, leave someone trusted to check your mail, and come back for the interview. You are still allowed up to 6 months outside the US to be eligible, and you can update your interviewer on this showing medical letters, etc.  to justify your absence. Unfortunately in my case all I could do is fly out for the funeral after N400 had been filed.

So then why are you doing it?  Not wanting to sound rude.  I think it's a big deal worthy of congratulating.

Rubya, please don't be that negative. Your process is very fast. And you don't have to be panic. Be a little more sunny, and everything will be ok.

Congratulations on being approved!  You're almost there!  Hold on!  Boston do a fair few ceremonies, so I don't think you'll have long to wait.  You can look up the list online, it's a couple a month, with various different venues, so logistically it's a lot to manage.  Be patient!

Does anyone have any nice plans for July 4th?  
 
I keep seeing lots of decorations in stores and I think about when they get reduced later next week I should buy some on clearance and put them aside for celebrating my citizenship whenever that may happen! 
 

This happens in life... I don't think they'll be worried about it... It's not illegal!
