It means you're one step closer SURE... but as we've discussed there are a lot of variables that affect these things - for both applicants and the USCIS. Try not to presume the worst for your case because others are waiting a long time.
-
Others have said it but I would recommend you and your husband BOTH pull your credit reports (you can do this free at either Credit Karma) or annually for free via https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action

Cousin of my friend says he`s been in line for an interview since April 15th 2015?????????????????
He showed his case status on website, he requested 3 info pass, they told him need to wait ???????
Is that right ?????
Without knowing more information about his case it's hard to say. I don't know if there are ANY field offices that are that behind! Are you sure the year is correct? Is there something pertinent to their case that we don't know about? Were they filing early or was their N400 piggybacking off something else, or another family member? How did they come to America in the first place?
@Gazy made some great recommendations for them to try and push their case through, but another option is the USCIS Obundsman - they can request assistance with their case through this link: https://cisomb.dhs.gov/oca/form7001.aspx
"The Ombudsman provides an impartial and independent perspective to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in an attempt to resolve problems with pending cases."
ALSO they can contact the person that handles immigration at their state representative's office.

Alright.
Thank you for your responding!
Have fun!
Mine is still saying "we scheduled your finger prints" since the end of May. Apparently, based on speculation and discussion in other threads on here this means that our background checks (specifically the name checks) have not been done by the FBI and submitted to the USCIS yet.

Went for fingerprinting this morning, it was pretty quick and went smoothly. Myself and wife were out in 10 minutes. Got the red book for preparation, I asked for the CD and was told that those are not given anymore, is that right? Waiting begins now.
Yup no CD anymore! But the USCIS do have a fun app you can download for your phone now!
@Mehrdad576 - @Waitinggame16 and @Gazy beat me to it! just make sure you note down the dates/keep the itinerary for your interview. This goes for any future travel outside of the US, regardless of the duration.
-
I would list them out, because you left the country. On the form just put the duration as one day?

What does the stamp say?

@deborabr glad you were able to get those biometrics done early!

Does that include the family and friends or just the people taking the oath?
They had planned on 2500 taking the oath today! Nuts!

Is there anyone at Hynes Convention Center today for the Oath Ceremony in Boston? There are 2800 people here. Insane!
Typically Boston ceremonies are a lot smaller. They do at least one massive one like that a year though. Crazy!

People don't get denied for ineligibility issues prior to the interview. Denials/RFEs happen during or after interview.
That seems like a HUGE waste of of time for everyone involved! Government employees and applicants.

Six months and ten days is a deal breaker to USCIS which shows lack of residency, yes it's ticky tack as only ten days but if the officer was looking for a reason to deny you, there you have it. As mentioned just re-apply and mention that clearly in your application. There are many users here with multiple re-applications and successful outcomes
That seems like a pretty straight forward reason to deny someone - and one that surely could have been done before the interview portion?

Oh the other thing that apparently helped increase applications was the increase in fees last year.

@Mehrdad576 You are attempting to assign reasons for the delay on our applications by blaming someone who is the President of the country and his policies. Now that is politics... and I am only suggesting to you that, we cut out such things on this forum because there could be dissenting views. You are free to disagree! Just a suggestion.
To be fair @Mehrdad576 makes a valid point - it was mentioned in a bunch of other threads that GC applications are up, because of the current administration, this is due to a number of reasons - including but not limited to the fact that a lot of folks are concerned about being able to come and go freely with their GCs. There are numerous articles (from both sides politically) documenting the facts - applications have been up since Trump's anti-immigrant campaign rhetoric. This is on top of a very normal JUMP in applications before an election. Everyone has their personal reasons for applying - and I hope that we can all agree, despite whatever our political leanings are that we want to be here legally because we've made America our home and want to continue contributing to our communities around us, and take on the additional responsibilities like voting and being on a jury etc etc.

I was delaying my marriage till I get my citizenship, as long as this process is too long I`m thinking to get married next few months .
If I get married to my gf and she is American citizen will that affect my case?
Thanks
Not negatively. If anything I think it would only seek to further legitimize your commitment to making a life here!

So going on the theory of being in line a month before your 3 or 5 year anniversary , it will be interesting to see if you go in line around the 24th!
Is this really a thing? Do you know how this come about to being the magic date?
(I am going to lose my mind if they made me wait until my GC anniversary)

So I have a question. I saw yesterday our case status updated to inline for an interview and we would get the interview letter. So I was thinking it was like the other letters we get and I was expecting it to arrive in the mail in a couple of days, but I guess they don't come that quick, right? It could take months to get the actual interview letter with the date on it? I'm not really stressed about it, but I worry of lost mail. Like when it updates online I keep an eye out for the notices in the mail, but if it could take months to get it, that worries me a bit.
So you'll get another update to your case online before you get the letter - that update will say "on [date] we scheduled your interview" and then the letter will come with the date on it. But yes, you could be stuck "in line" for a while yet. In line for an interview basically means that someone looked at your biometrics and that's all good and fine, maybe looked at your case a bit.

I don't understand why citizenship takes so long!! I'm routing for hopefully before the month ends you will get an update on your case. Hang in there lovelyalex.
Thanks @Faith38 - Have you thought about your oath ceremony? I've heard reports that Boston ceremonies are pretty stringent about a "one guest rule". I have a friend who has her ceremony at Hynes and she's bummed because her oath letter and stuff with the details had this big red stamp on it saying that only one guest was allowed, but her kids and partner really want to come. It's a bummer.

lovelyalex, still no update on your case ?
No... I actually phoned USCIS last night just before they closed and the women I spoke to was nice but not able to help. She basically told me what the website says for the Boston processing (which I knew) and then told me to call back in 8 months, cos that's when they're probably going to get to the start of May filers.
But I'm going to use this anxiety to a positive note and study those questions inside and out to the point where I insist the field officer ask me all 100 questions!

Hi what do you mean 5 months? I thought if you don't hear something in the next 90 days. Is that not correct?
The first tier agents when you call USCIS will ask where you live, and then look up the processing times for your local field office and then tell you what you can see on the website - that "[insert name] field office is currently processing cases as of [date]" and then ask you what date is on your NOA, and then tell you that you've [number of months] wait until they get to yours.
