I know I still have some time to wait for an interview, but can anyone give me some idea what is considered "normal processing time" and when I should start to be concern and maybe seek an "info pass" I know I am not there yet, but would like to have some kind of idea how long I should wait before requesting an info pass. Thank you kindly. My N-400 was received on 3/7/2017 and received notice on 4/17/2017 that we are in line for an interview. Again, I know I have more time of waiting , but maybe a ball park figure from the experienced ones out there that have gone through the N-400 process. My field office is "Seattle", and sent the N-400 packet to the Phoenix Lock box location. Thank you kindly
Have you looked at the timelines posted for the monthly filers? There may be an April filer for Seattle in the same situation as you. Looking back through older threads (January, February, even December 2016) should help you gauge time elapsed for the Seattle office.
According to the USCIS website the Seattle office right now are processing cases as of September 20, 2016. Of course, there are some folks after that date already getting interviewed, but if you call USCIS or schedule an info pass they will likely remind you of this, and tell you to wait it out!

I was going to ask if you had heard anything about this yet. Very strange... but no news is good news I guess!

You can reschedule your interview. The interview letter should detail how to reschedule, or you can set up an info pass at your local field office and talk to them about it. Don't worry though, lots of people end up rescheduling for these kind of reasons.

I used below link and created an account, then answered couple of questions which let me submit N-400.

It is a legitimate thing! You are okay! Your lawyer is misinformed.

If you e-filed, you will definitely get IOE. However, some paper files are getting IOE as well instead of NBC. Seems to be random, so most likely a load balancing maneuver USCIS is doing.
USCIS has built out the Elis platform and dedicated resources to it. But they haven't really advertised/pushed the platform, so people are still using the paper apps. So instead of having those resources sit and twiddle their thumbs, I think they re-route random NBC apps to IOE. Seems like the IOE apps are going faster - so I'd take it as a positive. Is your case IOE?
Good luck!
Given how backlogged some states I'm hoping that the IOE cases are helping to relieve workload!

@Faith38 I'm going to presume from here on out that you or your partner is a government or military employee.. Ooooh maybe a secret super spy!!!

lovely Alex, I filed under the 3yr rule my card anniversary will be July 25.
Cool! My GC anniversary date is in March or something I think, I hope they aren't making me wait till then! I really should have filed under the 3 year box. Oh well.
You can actually see future Oath Ceremony dates for Massachusetts - Here is the link. Sadly you don't get to chose which one, but from what I gather from local friends going through the process already, their ceremony date was about a month after they passed their interview.

Hello, happy Monday!! I received my mail today my interview date is July 20th at 10am. I hope I don't get nervous on that day.
Amazing news @Faith38!! I'm so excited to hear all about how it went and your experience overall as a Boston filer.
Do you mind if I ask if you filed under the 3 or 5 year tick box? If I already asked this, apologies, I have a memory like a sieve!

What is the rason for things going to IOE? I'm not super clued up on what the difference is, does someone mind explaining to me?

@MnMJourney this is an old thread, but from a quick search in the forum it's an example of the wording they respond with. It's an old post sure, but I'm using it as an example because they say in their response about not refunding the bio fee.

That's news to me. Every pertinent time line I've seen seems to have biometrics for both ROC and N400, regardless of being within 15 months. Have you seen otherwise, or heard stories?
USCIS website makes no mention of the time limit, as far as I've seen. If that were a policy - they wouldn't require you to pay another biometrics fee, and if they are they are unlawfully stealing. I'm sure there would be a class action lawsuit by now it were a matter of policy.
This is something I learned through this forum! Most of us are out of that 15 month window but I have seem some folks skip the biometrics appointment altogether as a result.

I had the fingerprint on 05/22/2017, but I haven't got any notice for in-line for the interview. It's been a whole month already. Am I on the right processing time? I am under Washington DC local center.
Based on my previous experience, I thought fingerprint was only background check based on fingerprints and name. I had this done about a year ago when I was working with a removal of conditions. it is a redundant procedure because nothing had changed.
I think if you had biometrics done within 15 months of your last set you aren't required to get them done again.

Are you in line for interview ?
nope!

looking back at my application maybe I should have ticked the 3 year box instead of the 5 year one. I'm still married to my spouse happily, but I've had my greencard for over 5 years so I defaulted to that.

If you look at the form we copy paste on the site here it has GC date. That shows whether it's been 3 or 5 or more years.
Oh yeah! That's true. I'm not so good at math haha! But there are other options on the form though, like being military based too though.

Hi charro when did you filled your application I'm also from NYC. They received my application on June 5th and my bio is on June 27th, just wanna to get an idea of the waiting time

I can't speak for your second question about what to do if you're still being processed after your GC expires - however your first question, ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS:
Quote- Item Numbers 1. - 50. Answer each question by selecting “Yes” or “No,” where applicable. If any part of a question applies to you or has ever applied to you, you must answer “Yes.” If you answer “Yes” to any of the questions in Item Numbers 1. - 44. in this part, include a typed or printed explanation on a separate sheet of paper.
- Your answers, whether “Yes” or “No,” will not automatically cause your application to be denied.
So I would interpret this as a YES for question 7, in part 12, I would tick YES and then include a statement explaining WHY you didn't file for those first years, and then include a copy of the statement the IRS gave you.
-
No rush or no pressure - but I added a column to the Google chart where we can add in if we filed under the 3 year or 5 year tick boxes (or other) - which is part 1, question 1 on the N400 form.
If you'd like to complete that, it would be very helpful for future filers going forward!

So, we've done the biometrics on december 18th, and STILL (Mid June) the status (biometrics appointment letter has been sent) is the exact same, and we havnt heard from them since.... Is there something we should do?
I don't know your local field office etc, and if it's normal for their processing times for you to have waited so long, but have you checked your case status online at all? does it still stay "we have scheduled your biometrics" or does it say you're "inline for an interview"?
If you are concerned, you could call USCIS or schedule an info pass to have them check your case status.

I think I read it in this forum that someone was told at their oath to not let the SSA know straight away, as it takes a few weeks for the USCIS office to update their records and close cases etc. I think the magic number was something like 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure what thread I read it in though, sorry.

it would help if we also include category we filed the application. For what I read, those who are military personnel or government officials, they get priority. I wonder if those who married to American will be next priority and then, those who filed under 5 years.
Oh I didn't even think of that! Someone else in an other month thread mentioned that some government employee in their group also was approved and given an oath date very quickly.
Do you think filing under the 5 or 3 years is quicker?
