WOW! I can't believe we are the next ones in line! I never thought this time would get here!
I am enjoying my time here in Jordan with my husband.
We ask for lots of prayers that we get through this and I do NOT fly home alone Sept 7.
Thanks!

I am so sorry to hear about this. We are so worried about getting AP... I mean we EXPECT it considering where he is from, but I REALLY don't want to fly back home alone again!
Your VJ "family" is here to help you through this.
And I know how hard it is, but try to be patient.

Flying to Jordan tomorrow!
If we don't have internet, I will find a cafe and post as soon as I can after the interview!
-
Thanks! We have only used it for a week, so I don't have much. I think the screen shots should work!

Congrats everyone!
I think I am ready to fly over Wednesday!

My husband and I just started using skype. I know this question has been asked before, but I never read it because we didn't need it then!
How do I print our call history?
We aren't using cams right now, just calling pc to pc and I need the history (tho it's only gonna be a few days) for the interview.
Thanks!

really nervous for my interview!my interview is in 3 days!
I understand! My husband's is still over almost 2 weeks away and I feel nervous!
But I can't wait to fly out Wednesday!

Print out the directions of the I-864 and show then that it says you need a letter from your employer.
Ah OK Thanks! I don't know why this never entered my mind!
Maybe just too many things going on right now!
THANKS again!

I need to update my affidavit of support at the interview. But WalMart has a new policy that they will only write a verification of employment if I take them something in writing that I need it.
I am working more hours now than I was in March when we filed AOS, and I have check stubs, but I think this letter will help.
Is there any place I can print something to show I need this letter? Thanks!
Feeling a bit of panic with the flight a week from today!

Congrats to the recent approvals!!!

Good luck Aneudy today!!!!!!
Ally- Do you think they would take kindly to you making out in front of them??? Since you are at the US Embassy and not on the Jordanian soil. You are so close to having an answer! I really hope you get a good one!!!!
LOL I love it and we have actually considered it! And quite honestly if they look closely at the index prints for our 3000+ pics... they may get an eyeful!

Our latest... Mohsin had his medical exam this morning. No vaccinations because he had them last year for the K1 we attempted. He will get results tomorrow!
I can't believe I will fly over next Wednesday and interview the next Tuesday! I feel excited, nervous, happy, worried... so many things all at the same time.
My biggest worry is what they may say about last year's K1. We never really had a clear reason as to why they didn't believe we were a real couple. The CO talked more about our age difference than anything else, and that's one thing we can't change. I am ready to fight for this if I have to! I can't let this case go back to USCIS for more review like our K1 did! Background checks are ok, but not believing our love is real... I can't let that happen!
I will make them read every piece of paper I have prepared... about 30 pounds of it!

Hope this is the right place for this question. If not please move for me... thanks!
I am flying to Jordan for my husband's interview on Aug 24, so I have booked a round-trip ticket. I wasn't thinking at the time that he will be returning with me if all goes well and no AP. My first US stop is Washington, DC and it's only a little over 2 hours until the next flight to Charlotte.
I know immigration lines are sometimes crazy, so now I am worried that he will get tied up there and we will miss the last flight of the journey.
Anyone know how the airlines usually handle this (if you miss the flight because of immigration lines)? We are flying United if that is important.
Thanks!

Sorry... I don't know much about a family visa. It's all I can do to keep up with the CR1... LOL!

Any body know any decent ways to call cuba? My bills go as high as 800 dollars a month. It's rough when they charge you a dollar a minute no matter what. And phone cards are the worst.
I just looked at the one I use (pingo.com). It's .75 or .85 a min.
They don't charge any connection fees but you will pay $1.00 a month to use it It's not bad compared to some I looked at when I started buying them.

Just wanted to get some other opinions on this.
I have been watching the interview results for quite a while. It seems a year ago - and even just 6 months ago - there were many more interviews resulting in AP.
Anyone else notice this? Or am I just hoping too hard that we don't get it?
-
I have been paying about $420.00 a month in phone card bills since June 2008 (and that's with a 16% discount from the online calling card provider!)
I use Zaptel.com and it costs me about 11.5 cents a minute to call a Lagos mobile phone (which is what my husband has).
We talk an average of 2 hours a day during the week and about 2.5 to 3 hours a day on weekends (we have a lot to talk about! lol)
I've made 5 trips to Nigeria so far since November 2008 (I plan to fly there again for the interview). Averaged out airfare cost per trip is about $1200.00 for a round trip ticket. Hotel stays and food - an additional 1200.00 for each trip (I paid). And also I am financing his flight here when he gets his visa (God willing).
Not to mention the money I've spent on fees and applications for 2 petitions (we had previously applied for and were denied the K1 visa) and also money for a crooked lawyer the first time around (16,000 dollars!).
I try not to think about it too much and look at it as an investment that will hopefully pay off in the long run.
So now you can all feel a bit better about what ya'll are spending....just think of me when you're feeling stretched!
I can really relate to what you are saying!
We filed a K1 first too with a really bad attorney. I paid him over $3000 before I found VJ and fired him. I only made one trip during the K1 process, but the trip for the interview this month will be my 3rd since we changed to CR1 in Oct 2009. My flights are about $1200 each, too. And this is the 4th trip total! And praying we FIANLLY get to buy his ticket this time ( which I have priced already and its almost as much as my round trip!).
We rent an apartment when I am there that runs about $100-$150 a week (depending on season). I have stayed a total of 11 weeks so far and the interview trip will add 4 more to that.
WOW! We have spent a lot!

OK this seems like a thread for me.
At first, 2 years ago, we online typed and used cams online. I called him ALOT and my landline and cell bills were totaling about $1000 a month.
Then we started using voice chats on yahoo and msn messengers... totally free!
Of course we still use the phone some and I buy cards online at pingo.com. Jordan is 12 cents a min (compared to 70 on my home or cell phone). I can use the cards with the access number on my home or cell phone now. I spend less than $50 a month now because we stay online so much. We even leave the messenger calls open all night and sleep together almost every night! We chat online at least 2 hours every morning and about an hour every night before we sleep.
During the day, we text. His is free from his employer. I use an AT&T gophone for pay as you go service and buy 1000 texts at time for $9.99. Sometimes I buy 3000 a month, but cheaper than .20 a text!

From what I have read here recently, it seems the AVR is really far behind.
Call and speak to an operator. At least you will have more information about where your case is in the process!

Wow its August 1st...
Yeah! Finally!
The "sent back to USCIS for review" thread
in Middle East and North Africa
Posted
Just wanted to tell a little of our story.
We have a CR1 interview on Tuesday the 24th. I am here in Jordan with my husband for this one.
He went for a K1 interview Sept 1, 2009 and our case was returned to USCIS. After talking with him and asking alot of questions here, we made the decision to marry and refile the CR1. I withdrew our K1 in mid-September. I was in Jordan on Oct 2 and we married the 6th.
The CO did not tell him a specific reason for our return of the papers, but seemed very displeased with our age difference (I am 14 years older than Moh). She told him there were better ways to get to the US than marrying me. It was a real mess!
Any way, at the end of November, I got an email that the K1 had been returned to USCIS. My withdawal letter was not processed! When I called they went ahead and took the info over the phone and took care of it. I was told it became null and void when we married and that it had expired already, but he went ahead and cancelled it officially for us. I got official notice of its cancellation in January.
I am not sure why, but at the time we filed, other CR1s were approved in about 3 months. Ours took 5! There were no RFEs or anything, just a long time waiting. Then we had only one RFE from NVC and it was because I didn't send a paper... easy to fix and we were approved. We had to wait a while for an interview date because the embassy is busy, but I don't think the old K1 caused any problems (unless that is why we were at USCIS so long).
Now we are praying things go well Tuesday and he flies home with me Sept 7. We expect AP, but really hope we don't get it. And I really pray the old K1 doesn't come back to haunt us! I think it only bothers me because we never knew the real reason she returned it. Age is NOT a valid reason, but I really believe that was her main reason.
I will let you know what happens!
