  1. I would say Happy Thanksgiving, but if you feel the same as me, it's not very happy being away from your hubby ! Anyhow ... Did you see what I had posted on what you said about being unfair based on name ? If not, I will say again. It's because Muhammad, Mohammed is such a popular name. When doing the security check, every time they get a hit on the name they have to investigate further to make sure it's not the same person. At least this is what has been told me, which makes sense.

I pray soon that you will get good news, please pray for us, it's been almost a year in AP ! :(

I just hate the whole process with AP. It's not so much that we are in it, but that you can't get a straight answer. Seems no one can even tell me for sure WHERE the case is. With the embassy saying DOS has it and DOS saying the embassy has it.... :bonk: it just makes me want to scream!

I called DOS yesterday to see what I need to do about changing my phone number on record, and the rude operator says "we can't touch your case.... the embassy has it." I guess when I email the embassy they will again tell me that DOS has it! OMG! I know they are closed til Sunday at the embassy, but it will be interesting to see what they say!

And I know we can't wait a year for this to end. Even now we have started making plans and have a deadline in mind for when we will give up and I will move to Jordan.

It just makes me sick that when they tell you that you are in AP, they say it should end in 4-6 weeks. Then in my last email they told me 3 months (which is where we are now) and when my senator inquired, they said less than 5 months.

    God help us all!

  2. Got call from embassy to pick up my visa I'm speechless didn't even ask what time.My husband call back the embassy, same lady talk to him and said the time.

got my passport with visa and the package :).ALHAMDULILLAH (All Praise and Thanks be to GOD)

Congratulations! And I think 4 months is not too long. Hope our time is coming. Today is 92 days!

  3. Hey Ally!

I am visiting the US for Thanksgiving and I am here on the Visa Waiver Program. I had no problems at all. I have visited the US with my wife twicw while under AP. I have done exactly the same as you, I have emailed the embassey in London, called DoS in DC and chased up my inlaws Congressman. Still nothing! I hate it when they say "i'm sorry you are still in AP!" blah. Ally, where are you based?

I have been talking to various lawyers in the US and also my lawyer in London and I am seriously contimplating filing a Mandamus Suit. Has anyone does this before??

    Any advice would be great.

I am in West Virginia. I get so upset with all this. My grandfather was a politician... a state senator and I wish he was still at himself to advise me here.

Let me know if you decide to file that suit. To me it seems like discrimination based on a name. What BS!

Feel free to email me if you want at alicealhosainy@yahoo.com

  4. iam sorry guyes i didnt provide more info but if you kindly click on my topics you will find my problems ............all of it there

the false hit was (( it says that i was deported cause of drugs))) not true and the truth came out and the embassy told me that they made a mistake and there is a prove and they have already sent it to remove the hit but does it take that long 6 months!!!!

Samer, believe me, I understand what you are going thru.

If you have time, please call Mohsin. I think he needs some support now.

    Thanks!

  5. what elss can we do????????

    i think nothing but wait

Waiting is all we can do. And I just read an earlier post where you said the Amman embassy isn't very busy. I can tell you when we were trying to get an interview date, they were VERY backed up! And a friend of mine had their case complete with NVC on May 18 but didn't interview til Oct 27.

With that place, I think it's ALL about patience.

  6. OMG my husband's middle name is also Mohammed. Tuesday makes 13 weeks since our interview... 91 days tomorrow.

If all this is based on PART of a person's name... it is soooo unfair!

I have emailed the embassy, called DOS, and had my congressman and senator inquire. Still nothing. The embassy told the senator's office 5 months or less. But they also told us 3 months average in an email earlier this month.

Of course, DOS tells me the embassy controls AP, and the embassy says the exact opposite... it's all up to DOS.

This is the most frustrating thing I have ever been through!

    HI everyone,

New to this forum, desperate times call for desperate measures!!

I am a UK citizen, born and brought up in the UK and married to a US citizen.

I think I trump everyone here by saying that I have been in AP for 7 months!! Yes thats right, 7 months!

My lawyer says that it is due to me having "Mohammad" in my name (i dont even use my middle name).

The funny thing is that I am actully in the US visiting for Thanksgiving and heading back home soon after!

I have contacted the Congressman, call the DoS on a daily basis and was wondering if anyone else has done anything else different?

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks!

Were you able to get a visitor visa while on AP? I wondered about trying that for my husband to come see me for Christmas.

  7. I am in AP since 23th of May 2010.American embassy in Abu dhabi say more than 99 percent of Ap will be completed within 6 months.Mine is 5/5 months now so I have a little hope that it will be over within next 2 weeks.

The embassy replied to my senator's email, saying we should finish in less than 5 months. He sent the email to me, so I know that's what it said.

when we were put on AP, we were told most were 4-6 weeks. But some take 5 months and others take years.

I am praying 5 months is about it. I don't think I can go much longer without a visit!

  8. I never head of contacting the govorner. I contacted my congresen and she is nice and is trying to help but the embasy is not responding. She say "they may say is under AP" and I said that's what there telling me she said if it is ap there's nothing anyone can do cuz it may be the name or something and they can do as many checks as they want and she's seen people who tool serveal years I was like omg that does not make me feel any better and she said she is just trying to be honest. So idk is any of your guys husband names Islamic name?

Mohsin's middle name is Mohammed. That could keep us in AP forever! :bonk:

But I actually know a guy whose name was the same as a suspected terrorist (his wife googled it) and he had less than 2 months AP last year. God only knows what they do with these things!

I want to go visit again, but I don't know when to plan. Right now we think if it's still in AP in Feb I will go back if I get a tax refund.

  9. Welcome to the AP waiting room!

My husband got it at his interview on Aug 24. But at least they told us while we were still at the embassy.

Seems they are doing alot of this yes you are approved and then a few days later no you are in AP.

This is the most frustrating step of all for us. I don't know if I should plan a trip back to visit or just wait or what. This is day 75.

I contacted my senator and congressman and all the embassy will tell them is that it should finish in less than 5 months.

    GOOD LUCK to you!

  10. Hello everyone,

I just wanted to see if I could get some advice here. My fiance and I have been in AR for 78 days now. I know this is not too long, comparativly. Im just wondering is there anyone other then our congressmen that we can get involved at this point to hurry things along. My congressmen has been really good about emailing them, and asking for a status, but she says there is not much more that she can do. Is there anyone else that can help us?

    Thanks for any advice

    Danni

My husband's interview was just a week after yours in Jordan. I was there and the interview was awful... separated us and interviewed us and all and we are in AP now too.

I can't get any help! My senator's office emailed the embassy and they told him 5 months or less.

I know it's not much help for you, but just know you aren't alone!
