  1. For those who are curious of what this letter states, I had just scanned my copy for all of you. My case was received by NVC April 03, 2009. I receive the notice in the mail last night, April 09, 2009. I wanted to share this with all of the people on VJ.

I heard that my case was forwarded to Seoul Embassy on April 06, 2009, although, Seoul Embassy did not receive it yet, it should arrive sometimes next week.

For those of you applying K1 Visa through Seoul Embassy, Packet # 3 will be sent through email. Nothing will be mailed... DS 230 Forms should be filled out and faxed back or sent back via mail. Then you schedule an interview date & before the interview date, make sure everything is completed.

I called the Seoul Embassy yesterday, they are very friendly and helpful.

  2. Try calling, 202-272-8000, i can't recall if its 202-277-8000 but anyhow, speak to a higher management official to track where your case went!

anyhow, try both numbers, I write it down somewhere couldn't remember exactly what the middle 3 digits are. But anyhow, supposely it is management level, so, speak to them they should be able to tell you WHEN USCIS actually shipped out the information NVC. Then you have something to refer back to.

  3. Hi I cut & pasted the words on my NOA1 for you. You will have a better understanding & for those of you just starting to applying for k1 Visa. This should be very helpful~ RECEIPT NUMBER -

    CASE TYPE 1129 F

    PETITION FOR FIANCE

    RECEIVED DATE

    PETITIONER- NAME

    BENEFICIARY -NAME

    NOTICE DATE

Receipt Notice- This notice confirms that USCIS received your application or petition (this case) as shown above. If

any of the above information is incorrect, please immediately call 800-375-5283 to let us know. This will help avoid

    future problems.

This notice does not grant any immigration status or benefit. It is not even evidence that this case is still pending.

It only shows that the application or petition was filed on the date shown.

Processing time - Processing times vary by kind of case. You can check our website at www.uscis.gov for our current

“processing times” for this kind of case at the particular office to which this case is or becomes assigned. On our

websites “case status online” page, you can also view status or sign up to receive free e-mail updates as we complete

key processing steps on this case. During most of the time this case is pending, however, our systems will show only

that the case has been received, and the processing status will not have changed, because we will be working on other

cases that were filed earlier than this one. We will notify you by mail, and show in our systems, when we make a

decision on this case or if we need something from you. If you do not receive an initial decision or update from us

within our current processing time, check our website or call 800-375-5283. Please save this notice, and any other

notice we send you about this case, and please make and keep a copy of any papers you send us by any means, along with

any proof of delivery to us. Please have all these papers with you if you contact us about this case.

If this case is an 1-130 Petition - Filing and approval of a Form 1-130, Petition for Alien Relative, is Only the first

step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. The beneficiaries of a petition must wait until a visa

number is available before they can take the next step to apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to lawful

permanent residence. To best allocate resources, USCIS may wait to process forms 1-130 until closer to the time when a

visa number will become available, which may be years after the petition was filed. Nevertheless, USCIS processes forms

1-130 in time not to delay relatives ability to take the next step toward permanent residence once a visa number does

become available. If, before final action on the petition, you decide to withdraw your petition, your family

relationship with the beneficiary ends, or you become a U.S. citizen, call 800-375-5283.

Applications requiring biometrics- In some types of cases USd5 requires biometrics. In such cases, USd5 will send you

a SEPARATE appointment notice with a specific date, time and place for you to go to a USCIS Application Support Center

(ASC) for biometrics processing. You must WAIT for that separate appointment notice and take it (NOT this receipt

notice) to your ASC appointment along with your photo identification. Acceptable kinds of photo identification are: a

passport or national photo identification issued by your country, a drivers license, a military photo identification, or

a state-issued photo identification card. If you receive more than one ASC appointment notice, even for different

cases, take them both to te first appointment.

If your address changes- If your mailing address changes while your case is pending, call 800-375-5283 or use the

“Online Change of Address” function on our website. Otherwise, you might not receive notice of our action on this

    case.

Please see the additional information on the back. You will be notified separately about any other cases you filed.

  5. Well I guess the easiest way for us to find out is, when it does state ARRIVED ~ we can call the embassy and see whether it really did or not! Yes it is very possible that NVC had our file just never inputted our information until Apr 03.

I'm not worried, especially my fiance is on business trip until May 7th~~~ he wouldn't be able to send off the packet until then... so aggrevating *-*

  6. JUST tracked my package: although NVC informed me that it was shipped 04-06, but EXP 06 APR 2008A isn't coming up under references in DHL. So, i tried EXP 03 APR 2008A... is it possible that NVC uses 03 APR as received date and use that as reference ?

  7. My fiance and I got engaged in an island called Nami Island about 1-2 hours away from Seoul. We met through a work related venue ~ and kepted in touch ever since. There are many times in our relationship that we would fly half way across the country to meet somewhere... since neither of us have our own place~ hotels have became our home for a while ~ Its really difficult & really stressful & extremely costly to continue a relationship 6000 miles away. We basically saw eachother every 2-3 month during the past year. I guess it was really time for us to make a decision whether we want this to work or not... so, here I am.... I have been so thankful of VJ. My fiance and I are considering of creating a blog in English and Korean so we are able to share our experience with all of new filers. Honestly, in the beginning I really didn't know whether I was capable to do this alone! with all of the friends on VJ, the journey has been smooth~ my fiance also joined a forum similar in Korean, and he said, they will have a study session over in an internet cafe in Seoul this sat... so, pretty interesting ! i guess that would only work for bigger metropolians.

As for now, fiance is still employed, he actually adores his job ~ as journalist ! but for me and for our future, he has to sacrafice. Not sure, if any of you know the condition in Korea... if you don't speak Korean its really difficult to blend in with the culture. Everything is extremely expensive in Seoul.... so the better choice was for us to start our life together in US.

Anyhow, we plan to get married in Korea, its much cheaper and affordable. Not to mention they take awesome wedding photos!

Again, so thankful for this site!

  8. Mine took 15 days, considered LATE. I called the 603 NVC number religiously everyday during my lunch break for about an entire week. Until last Friday, I called in the evening, NVC case received. and Today, the case was sent to embassy. I suggest you keep calling.... until you know for sure.

Perhaps, your case has already been forwarded to your fiance's country embassy!

  9. Hey, i just filed for K1 Visa through the California Service Center -K1 Visa was approved in 31 days from NOA 1. Its going fairly fast now, seems like an ongoing trend. As for proof, as long as you have pictures together. Print out pictures and lable them correctly. Print out the phone bills and highlights, maybe note that she calls and hang up so you call her back. As for my fiance and I, he calls me and I usually call him back with a phone card. its very costly to talk on cell phons w/o using a phone card. So you can make a note of that. In addition...if you have passport stamps of you being in Thailand visiting her or credit card usage in Thailand, that would work as well.

Don't worry, there are many other avenues if she doesn't have internet!

  10. Following approval by USCIS, the case is then forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC), a Department of State facility in Portsmouth, NH. It is at this point in case processing that the timelines between spouse cases and fiancée cases diverge substantially. In the case of a fiancée petition, the file is only briefly delayed at the NVC where it is assigned a local embassy file number and the file is transmitted to the Embassy for final visa processing. Conversely, Spouse and other Immediate Relative petitions are subject to substantially more processing at NVC. Please keep in mind that NVC processing essentially takes the place of the "adjustment of status" processing that occurs later in a fiancée case.

  11. NVC FINALLY SAID, CASE RECEIVED ! AH! It feels like a huge rock just dropped. I was so stressed out about it~ I called this morning but they said... nope... so, I thought I call again 6:37 PM... and yes ! The NVC Operator said... please verify, petition & beneficiary name & dob! yes yes yes! so happy~ now, next stage... hoping that our case get's forwarded to Seoul Embassy ASAP. I'm so thankful for VJ, its really a great place that we can come together and help eachother.
