  1. I went through almost the exact same thing and my husband never laid a hand on me. He was a scammer from minute one and was an expert at hiding it. I believe he comes from a good family but the point remains, many of these men are EXPERTS at what they do and rarely do they operate alone. Typically they are being coached by family and/or friends who teach them how to get done what they want to get done. My husband got his citizenship April 24th, my daughter turned 18 on May 16th and he made a pass at her on May 30th. Needless to say, he was out the door that day. There were no "warning signs" with us. He came from an upper middle class family, was a teacher, never married before and no kids. He turned out to be the scammer supreme. Poll the women you meet on here and in 5 years 90% of the marriages will be non-existent. There's a reason the embassies look at these marriage closely, because most of them are fraudulent.

  2. So sorry for your loss. I have 3 dogs who I cherish and are truly like my little children. I cannot even imagine what the day will be like when one of them leaves this world. I know I will be heartbroken. That being said, please don't grieve too long and go adopt from a shelter where thousands of beloved animals are put to their death every year for no fault of their own. I think it's one of the greatest ways to honor the pet we no longer have by our side. Peace be with you!

  3. Routine papers??? Are you kidding??? There's nothing routine about being financially obligated to someone for 10 years. I have to be honest, even when it's your spouse it's a HUGE committment. You will never find a stranger to agree to such a thing. She better get prepared to move to Egypt or get a better job. That's about your only options.

  4. What do you mean that you don't understand the American Queen staying home to take care of the Egyptian King?? Are you sure you're married to someone from MENA??

It did read a little like one of those nauseating Christmas letters: "Johnny continues to outpace every member of his first grade class. Why, you should hear how he can recite 'The Waste Land' from memory! Thomasina knitted whimsical scarves for all the cats down at the shelter, and is now making cash money selling them on Etsy. That she can do this while maintaining a perfect A average, volunteering every spare hour teaching urban youth how to make Brussels lace, and captaining the field hockey AND girls' volleyball team is testament to her can-do spirit! Peter and I continue to be our old boring selves, though we took time to sail our schooner down to the Bahamas, where we distributed home-canned cranberry sauce to the poor and I donated a few of my less-edgy Commes des Garcons pieces."

    Bwwahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand buying cars, houses, having the 'lil woman' stay at home when there's no money put away for food and gas. Especially with kids in the home, but hey...maybe the kids like pancakes.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you Amber!

    Who's up for IHOP?????

  5. Thanks for the response. I know i will be sponsering him . I still don't understand.

Ummmm well let me break it down for you....you will need to be able to support yourself.....that's 1, then you will need to demonstrate that you can financially support your significant other......that's 2.....so 1+1=2 people that you must show adequate financial resources to support.

  6. I find it interesting how touchy and sensitive some people get when others are concerned about an American's safety at the present moment in Egypt. Are there less safe places for Americans in the world currently?? Probably. Does that mean everyone who is concerned about an American in Egypt right now is a bigot?? Definitely not. If you are sooooo secure with your own prowess and ability to travel in Egypt right now then ignore it and move on. I find it strange that the ones complaining about people's concern is always the American spouse and not the foreigner .Never once have I seen an Egyptian husband come here with these type of complaints all the while defending Egypt for it's safety. Watch TV. Read the newspapers. Speak to your husband's family about the current events. It is lawless in Egypt right now. If something happened to you God forbid, you would be totally on your own. The government nor police nor military are going to care what happens to you. When I was in Egypt in 2009 I felt COMPLETELY safe. Now, I wouldn't travel there with or without my husband. Period.

  7. Are you in Chicago? Were you a teacher in Tunisia? My husband has an education degree and taught Islam and Arabic language in Egypt. Unfortunately here Arabic language nor Islam are taught in the public schools. Right now my husband is substitute teaching and looking in to getting certified to teach English as a second language. Before he started substitute teaching he stocked shelves in a grocery. Not glamorous I know, but it is a job.

  8. Reasoning will not get you anywhere.

Most christians take the old testament only when it is necessary to justify their hatred for someone else but tend to dismiss it when it pertains to themselves. They share a lot in common with those who use the Q'ran to justify their hatred for others. Islam does not hold a monopoly on nutjobs...

Maybe not a monopoly, but they certainly have a niced size population of nutjobs.....
