  1. If you take a look at our timeline, you can see that we sent off for everything at the end of June. Everything seemed to be going pretty smoothly, we got the first NOAs quickly and the biometrics appointment. We then received a RFE because they wanted us to send in the IRS issued transcript for the co-sponsor so I sent it in within a couple weeks.

Now, we haven't gotten anything. Not a notice of the EAD being in production or anything. Would the be a reason the RFE would hold off the EAD even though the evidence was for the AOS?

We are getting really worried here. Any thoughts? Or are we just being too impatient?

  2. We got the biometrics letter the other day. We are scheduled to go in Portland on August 6th. I was so worried about getting this time off work because I've been noticing a lot of people asking for the beginning weeks of August off but I called and spoke to the manager and she was understanding. Now I get to spend my birthday (August 7th) in Portland too. That's pretty exciting!

  3. There is a pinned thread on this.

Long story short, if your vaccination record (DS-3025) has the box "vaccine history complete" then you shouldn't need an I-693.

If your record says "Vaccination history incomplete. May be eligible for blanket waiver" (or something like that) they you're better off getting the I-693.

THAT'S what the form means. I know some people who've followed this rule and had no issues, others have... so most people just send the I693 "just in case". Whether you chose to risk it without the I-693 is up to you. if you want to risk it just send a copy of the DS-3025 and worst case scenario is you get an RFE. if you don't, great, if you do, you'll need to get it done.

Be aware sometimes there are wrong RFE's sent asking for a WHOLE new medical but there doesn't seem to be as many of these lately.

Anyway it's up to you what you chose to do.

He didn't get a copy of the DS-3025. What then?

  4. Wait a minute.

According to the guides on this here site, I had the impression we needed to get the I-693 filled out by a civil surgeon and signed.

If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. Regardless of if you are exempt from a medical exam, you are still required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon's office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof). If you do not have proof of your vaccination history the Civil Surgeon may insist on re-administering all the required vaccinations prior to completing the I-693. Once the Civil Surgeon has has verified that all required vaccinations have been performed, they will complete form I-693 Part 2 (the vaccination section) and Part 5 (the Civil Surgeon's Certification). They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you.

But then I look on the forum and there is a FAQ and it says:

If the beneficiary's vaccinations were COMPLETED as part of the visa process, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO INCLUDE FORM I-693 IN THE AOS SUBMISSION. All your medical information is enclosed in the brown envelope which was handed in at the POE. The envelope is then forwarded on to USCIS where it will be consolidated with the I-485 submission, once received. If you received a copy of the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025) from your Panel Physician, you may include a copy of that form in your AOS submission in place of Form I-693.

Can someone please explain what the first one means, then?

  5. We are trying to get in contact with civil surgeons in our area just to fill out the form. So far, we have only been able to get in contact with 2. Well, 3 but one is no longer doing it.

First we called the closest one. They charge a minimum of $160. I already thought this was a lot.

Then we called Klamath Falls, Oregon and found out they charge $500! Are they kidding? Have you ever heard of anyone charging this much, without vaccinations???

Does anyone on here happen to come from the Southern Oregon area and know where the cheapest place is to go?

  6. Take it back to the embassy and they will reseal it.

    Seriously? It's that easy?

Some things, not many, are that easy in this crazy immigration process.

But the envelope has 3 words in huge letters on it: DO NOT OPEN. Really, dude opened it anyways?

He was just excited to be getting the visa and didn't even LOOK at the envelope. If he saw that, he wouldn't have done it. He's not stupid, he was just overly joyed at the time and wasn't thinking. Why the hell would he open it if he saw that, man?

Thank you to everyone that helped instead of saying some snotty comment. :)

  7. Isaac was so excited today, he finally received his Visa. We were so happy but then he found out he accidentally opened the envelope for the US embassy that he isn't supposed to open. Now, we are both freaking out. He just opened it before really looking at it and didn't even realize what it was! He feels horrible and now can't sleep because we don't know what this means. Please help...

  8. All I can say is that I have had experiences that my friend considers psychic. Or psychotic.

My most common (as in has happened about 3 times in 2009 so far and about 4 times in 2008) are that before I go out or while I am at work I get these strong feelings I'm going to see a specific person and most of the times that I have these feelings, I do. It always freaks me out because when I get the feeling I say, "nahhh" and it's not as though I see these people often to begin with. Or like one time before turning down a road late at night that I have driven down many times before, I had this strong feeling that I should slow down even more and go around the corner carefully. I followed my instinct and there was a black dog just standing in the road. For whatever reason, the dog would not move, just stood there. If I tried going around, he would then move in front of my car even more. He didn't bark or anything until I opened my window and said something. I tried honking and it wouldn't move. Eventually, I just had to ease in slowly and it left. Kind of a creep of a dog.

  9. So Isaac had his interview at the London embassy early this morning. We haven't gotten to talk yet but he sent a message saying it was very short and simple. All is good except I never got the letter of intent notarized. Oops. There's so much to know and I didn't know that it had to be! They said to just get it notarized, send it off, he'll send it to the embassy and then he should get the visa! EEE!

  10. To be honest, this is hard to read and I'm not going to bother.

People general don't appreciate a yeller (caps lock junky) in forums, it's too hard to read.

If that's the case why even bother to reply. I was once new to this site. I had never even posted in a forum before. I had no clue about the rules of posting until after I had been around a while. Please be nice to the new members, even better than what you posted you could politely educate the OP about posting in capital letters.

To the herolda. I there is no clear answer on how long it will take. You case is a little more difficult. I hope you do not have to wait long.

Also, posting in all capital letters will make some members here uncomfortable because it means that you are yelling. Me, I am not bothered by it. But to keep the peace it is best not too.

    Meriem (F)

I didn't realize I was being rude. I was just informing them of how people don't like it and why.

  11. People love to think everything is a hoax. That's a pretty elaborate and flawless hoax. The only things people say to "prove" it hasn't happened are completely out of their #### things and not facts.

And just because you don't understand how to get to the moon doesn't make it impossible.

Anyone watch that one episode of Myth Busters?

Look up Myth Busters moon landing.

  12. We're getting pretty worried now. Our NoA2 says that the approval notice is only valid until 7-30-2009 which is TOMORROW.

He sent in all the forms he had to do for packet 3 about a month-month in a half ago and the checklist a couple weeks ago. I originally thought I read that they automatically extend that date when they get those forms but how do I know if they did that?

He tried calling the embassy and couldn't get a REAL PERSON, only machines. He also tried emailing but the email no longer works.

How do we know what's going on? Does anyone know who to call??

  13. Though Skype chats with webcams are our main form of communication (normally lasting 3-6 hours, ha) we do use Twitter when I am away from the computer.

Just as you say with Facebook, Isaac updates his twitter and it sends to my phone and I @reply him. He doesn't have a cell phone so it only works when he's online but it's nice if I am running late for our daily chat and we can still tell each other what's going on. His Twitter is private and he uses it purely for that purpose.

We also play online games against each other. Normally just simple stuff like MySpace pool or darts.

We have a hard time finding 2 player games that don't involve downloading stuff to your computer, anyone got any for us? We love scrabble but the only good version I found only worked in America. Lame.

  14. We haven't had ours yet but we are planning on under $1,000. We are nontraditional so we aren't having a bridal party (just unnecessary stress, if you ask me), flower girls, anything like that. No crazy off the wall decorations. Outdoor weddings decorate themselves, in my opinion. No dinner at the reception which is the thing people spend so much on. Doesn't suit us at all! I haven't gotten my dress yet but I think that spending over 200 for a one time dress is pointless. It's about the marriage, not about having an outrageous wedding. We're still planning it though but I really think we can do everything for well under 1000. I'm sure we won't even come close to that! Don't start off a new life, and marriage, with money problems or in debt if you can avoid it.

  15. Also, when it asks about educational institutions does he have to put down all the schools attended or just universities? We're both so worried about doing something wrong, haha.

I do not know the whereabouts of my biological father and all I put UNKNOWN for his address and the same for is he is alive or dead.

I listed all schools after primary school.

    Thank you for your answer!

  16. My fiance and I are now on skype as I am helping him figure out the form (with the help of visa journey of course) but we came to a bit of a road block.

It asks the current address of his father.

He doesn't really keep in touch with his father and doesn't know his address. He WOULD figure it out but it doesn't allow you to save what you've put and he has pretty much completed the form, not wanting to redo it.

Does he NEED his father's address or could he do without??

  17. I was looking through the forums at the topics about shipping your belongings and am seeing that many people were saying about £400 or more. You are mentioning the measurements but that's all stuff that my brain doesn't want to figure out right now. We just kind of want to know how much you spent and for how much stuff. Not measurements of boxes, but what kind of items did you ship?

Isaac just has a couple guitars and those are the largest items then he has books and stuff like that. Everything else, like most of his clothing, can be just brought on the plane with him.

The prices I am seeing you lot have paid just kind of scare us a little but I don't know if you guys were shipping a whole bunch of stuff or what. Ahh!
