Hi there,

My wife has arrived to US about 40 days ago on CR1. No GC yet. I called USCIS, they said the package - which I assumed it was the sealed package - has left to TX couple weeks ago but hasn't reached there yet !!! she said there is delay in packages.... (!?).... and we should wait until mid April or even late April and then call back! the CR expires on June. Anybody is in similar situation? what we should do if somehow the package has been lost or misplaced or wtever!? .... It seems it's like never ending story!

Just wanted to let you know that Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooray! it's been 24 hours that my wife and I are re-united in US.

It's been a long journey but I'm blessed that I found this wonderful website and its great members.

I think I still need this website so that make sure that we are getting things right. I think for now we have to wait for 3 weeks for her SS to arrive and then.... I think I need to read more... most probably there are wonderful posts regarding the process after entering US in this website.

Aug 21: they want original marriage cert! the original certified translated one is not acceptable! I'm not sure if we cam get a certified copy! Pardis is going to look into that! it seems we are heading for december interview

Certified marriage cert was sent again on Aug 26. Will get there Aug 27 (Thursday)

Aug 28 they entered the checklist into AVR. Hope it won't take more than a week for them to review it. fingers crossed.

Sep 4, Log in failed! no email yet from NVC though! but LOG IN HAS FAILED!

Sep 8: AVR says case is complete. Waiting for further instruction.

Dec 15: Went to interview at Abu Dhabi, the interviewer asked couple of simple questions and asked my wife when she wants to come to US, my wife said ASAP. so then she said come and get your visa tomorrow. hooooray

Dec 16: Went to Abu Dhabi again, Got visa in couple of minutes. Hooooray 2.

Feb 7: POE JFK, NY. no question at all. and ...

Feb 8: this is our first 24 hours as re-united couple in US. It's been a long journey but thanks to VJ it went smoothly! thanks all of you.

Abu Dhabi hasn't been treating us well so far! they are busy or short in number of staffs, I don't know. But our file was completed in Sep. Nothing even for Nov. I'm not even sure we can get into Dec list or not.

I have K3 interview in Dec. So if nothing happens by then, we will go for K3. USCIS and NVC were pretty ok, (on time) but after NVC it's just stupid delay! for unknown reason!

I have no idea abt Ankara.

Our applications were approved on September 17, 2009 and our interview was scheduled for January 10, 2010. If anyone has had any luck reaching the Embassy let me know! It seems impossible to reach them, and they haven't followed through on anything they have told us. I'm so exasperated!

105 days from NOA2 to interview isn't completely terrible--you figure, it takes around a month for NVC to receive, process, and complete your case, and the interview is normally the month following your NVC case complete, and there's just one extra month of padding. But right now it seems like the discrepancy is much greater than that.

I'm going to keep calling/e-mailing until I figure out what's going on. I've already contacted my Senator. I need to know what's causing this sudden delay in CR-1 visa interviews.

They may have decreased the number of days they are working to issue the visa. at times this happens. for non-immigrant visa K3 abu dhabi has online scheduling for Iranians but rarely you see an opening! most days are not available! why? who knows!

What timelines in particular? I'm trying to figure out exactly what's going on over there. I've already called and e-mailed; they haven't answered either. I am getting ready to complete my case at the NVC now, but I did not go the K-3 route and so I can only wait for a CR-1 interview. I tried to speak with the NVC about the sort of backlog Abu Dhabi has for CR-1's but they couldn't give me any information. From what you say, I'm pretty worried, because I was really banking on a December interview. Why are they so busy? I've already sent them two e-mails; I'm going to try calling them to see if I can understand what's going on over there. I really, really need a December interview. The fact that your K-3 was scheduled in AUGUST for December does not bode well... but I don't understand, earlier this year there was barely any delay whatsoever. People approved in one month interviewed the next. What changed?

nothing for Nov for me. told me to call back in Nov for Dec. if that's the case i will go for k3. I can't take it anymore. 1500$ or whatever, I need to have a life

Armin, can you let me know what your situation is? What visa type have you applied for? It looks like your case got approved in September, but they haven't scheduled an interview for you yet? What are they telling you with regards to this? Is Abu Dhabi backlogged? Is there some sort of issue with your particular case? The supervisors with whom I've spoken have all said Abu Dhabi is not a busy embassy, and since I'll be interviewing there too (hopefully in December) I'm really interested to know how they schedule CR-1's.

I live in Dubai, UAE.. Our case got completed on Oct 2nd....waiting for a interview appointment letter from NVC.. I really wonder iss U.S. EMBASSY in Abudhabi is so busy, it takes so long to get an appointment.....We were expecting a early interview.. but knowing now your case got completed on Aug 26th..& still no interview date.. worried........Just keep praying, praying thats all we can do, Inshaallah we all get our interview appointments sooner ....

I'm getting worried 2. Mine was completed Sep 8. Nothing so far. they told me to call back in one week. But with Aug completion pending the interview, I doubt we will get anything by the end of this week. it's sad.

NVC completed ONE month ago! it drives me crazy. I didn't waste a single day to get over NVC and now that is over and nothing I have to do, they are just sitting there doing nothing! I mean they know each embassy schedule right? why not for example telling us that we will interview you OCT NEXT YEAR! so that at least we can plan ahead and know the hell we are doing! First I thought we will get interview in Oct, that didn't happen and I changed my vacation to december and now I'm not sure even that's going to happen or not! I mean I prefer to fill 200 more forms and think that the reason the process is being delayed is because of number of forms not because of lack of sensivity of NVC towards people's lives.

What embassy are you interviewing at?? It is not indicated in your timeline...??? Perhaps there are others who can help you to estimate how long based on their experiences???

Mine is in Abu Dhabi , UAE. couple of timelines for Abu Dhabi is scarey.... that's why I try not to look at those timelines alot! I don't know... maybe it was better for us to interview in Ankara, Turkey. My wife is an Iranian so no US embassy there !

on the other note, we have interview for K3 on 8th of Dec. Do you think if case been referred by that time to embassy, can we ask consulate to do CR interview instead of K3 interview?

Your not going to like what Im going to say, you may have to wait till 2nd week in October for your interview date. We all get tired of this process, but think of it this way, many, many other VJer's would love to be in your shoes and just waiting for their interview date.

You are not weak at all. Even if we consider that a weakness it's a good weakness. It shows your passion for your significant other. the process really challenges your body, heart and soul! While not trying to blame yourself, try to keep yourself as busy as you can. And always remember that 10 years ago it would have taken years to bring significant others here and there was no easy communication tools as we have today. we have to consider ourselves lucky

At the end of the day the only thing that keeps you warm is the heat of love for your significant other. try to keep it flamed by any means you have.

Absolutely she can send it - anyone can mail the items.

Just want to say though, they don't just want a copy 'certified' by a 'responsible authority' - when they say 'certified copy' they mean a document that has been issued from the (normally government) department that issues copies in your country.

For instance, in Canada, for a marriage certificate, this would be a certified copy that you order from the provincial government. They have the 'original' and they send a certfied document to you, which NVC will accept.

Basically what I am saying is don't just take a photocopy of the original and have it certified by someone - they will not accept that.

I'm an Iranian American. My wife is an Iranian. In Iran the judiciary ministry is responsible for issuing marriage cert. What they have told my wife they will stamp each copied page that Copy is Equlavent of Orginial with Iran judiciary ministry logo , etc... they told her that's what people do.

It was a mistake from our side, we asked a certified translator to translate our marriage cert and then we send our translated marriage cert to responsible authority to verify the accuracy of it. Attached to it was a copy of marriage cert. The authority just verified the translation and not the copy of marriage cert. Now they are asking for either original - which we won't sent because it may get lost - or certified copy of originial marriage cert. It seems they have some body there that can read Farsi . Anyway, it's going to delay our visa process maybe for a week or 10 days , hopefully not more than that....

Question: Is it possible that my wife - who is the beneficiary - prints the cover letter, add it to cerfited copy and send it directly to NVC via DHL and not sending it to me - an agent - in order to save time?

I will call NVC on monday regarding this, but maybe you have asked this question before from NVC.

I have just got an IV date for K3 and it's scheduled for Dec 8! I don't know why so laaaaaaaaaaaate!

@ the same time I have just sent DS230 for CR1 and hopefully it will be completed at NVC by early Sep. Is there any chance I get an earlier IV date for CR1 @ the same consulate?

The consulate is Abu Dhabi at UAE.
