  1. Hi dear friends.

NOA2 came today - hooooray - and after reading posts again, I think CR1 is a better option - maybe by far - than K3. So I have decided to join CR group.

Do you have any idea - if things go on normal pace - if my wife would be able to get IV b/w Oct15 to 30th?

I have vacation then and it would be nice if we can celebrate it with her CR1 in hand. :)

    Congrats on NOA2, yay

Welcome to CR-1, K-3 is not good anymore, save your money

    Beneficiary is from UAE, correct?

Please correct your timeline and visa status ;)

According to my calculations and the stats, her case might be completed with NVC (hopefully with NO RFE's and if you have all necessary documents ready to go with DS-230) around the middle of September. If your case gets complete by the second week of September, you could catch the October interview assignments  Just get ready with everything and be patient :P

Good luck and best wishes for a fast NVC journey

    Hi Chris & Ani :)

Well my wife is an Iranian, we don't have US embassy there so she is going to UAE for it.

Yeah. If things go well, there may be a "chance" of getting it. I wish embassy had some power for scheduling IV, b/c I know a highly ranked guy there. But it seems they don't have any power over CR.

  3. I can't believe it! Yesterday I called USCIS and they told me to wait for 10-14 more days! Today I woke up and checked my email and "status update" !

Approval was sent for both I129 and I130 on July 17. :) Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooray! Hoooooooooooooooooray!

    Couple questions:

1- I'm out of town right now, unfortunately! I won't be back till end of the month! Should I ask one of my friends to get NOA2 from my mailbox? or the file will be delivered "automatically" to NVC (in two weeks approximately, right?) ?

2- I want to go through K3. Due to circumstances in Iran, leaving one week earlier is of great value. How should I notify NVC that I'm going for K3 not IR?

3- If I want to go through K3, the only thing is NVC will send packages to my wife and I, we will complete it and send some of it through mail and some of it we will take to embassy? there is no need for pocket II, III, IV as in IR?

Sorry , I'm very excited right now. I have read guidelines many times but want to double check that I'm underestanding them compeletly.

Best and wish your NOA2 comes VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY soon.

Hummmm ..... reading again posts and guidelines.... maybe we should take a risk and go for CR1.... K3 seems like a crazy option! AOS now takes more than 3 years?? (2006?) that's going to be a long long long time! We should balance the risks and benefits!

  5. Well, I called them anyway. It's 5 months and 20 days right now and I'm over the timeline.

the rep told me to wait for 6 months - at least ! - and then explaining why it says 5 months and not 6 months, he read from a paper for almost 5 minutes that each case is different, it is based on number of cases they get each month, 3-...., 4-...., 5-....., 6-.....

I will wait for 10 more days but I really hope things go well on their own. I doubt I can get alot out of these "machinary reps. "

  6. senator or congres man won't work....at least n my case it did not work..USCIS is now used to seeign letter form these guys and treatign them normally.

write to CIS OMBUDSMAN( googel it, there is form you have to fill out). The chiar man of the Ombuds man reports to President. They will definetely go after your case and do everything posibble.

Wow :) a ray of hope in case I go beyond 6 month.

    Best,

    appreciate it alot.

  7. Thanks dear friends. :)

I have already prepared every thing for NVC and maybe that's the reason I'm becoming frustrated.

The other issue is I was expecting NOA2 by late Aug or later but then I checked Vermont processing time and it says 5 month for I-130 and mine is already 5 months and 17 days... and counting... Do you think if goes into 6 month time, should I contact USCIS or it's a waste of time and maybe writing a letter to senator and explaining the situation might be of little help?

ps) hopefully so far things have been gr8 b/w my wife and I, knock on wood though :)

I remember when I was calling to check on our status they kept telling me that it takes 6 months for approval, so definitely once it hits the 6 month mark you can dig in with your teeth and request to speak with supervisors, senators, whoever ... Because their "standard processing time" IS 6 months as they state, before then you really don't have any grounds to request that they look at your case. 6 month mark, however, is a whole 'nother ball park

I wish I can be of help, but it seems all you can do for the next couple weeks is just wait...

At least you are all complete with NVC stuff, because that phase is a breeze if you got all documents ready!

Thanks my friend. Appreciate your help.

July 28 would mark the 6 month and July 29 I'm after them :)

  10. Well, I'm not sure about how they calculate the estimated time in VJ but the reason for estimated time to jump all over the place is what we call "out liers".

It needs little bit of statistical knowledge. For example if average time to getting approved is 200 days (and that's the average time for 20 people) now the person number 21, gets approval in 50 days. It will change the estimated time (which is basically the average time +/- standard deviation) significantly. The effect will be lowered by more people adding their time-lines who may fall under the average curve.

Like every sampling and polls, u won't reach 100% accuracy but depending on the number of standard deviation u may cover 95 or even 99% of population.

    Hope this helps little bit.

  11. Hi,

You can't believe how happy I am to find this website/forum. We - Pardis and I - just got married 12/19/08 and I returned to US and still waiting for arrival of our marriage certificate translation to file I-130 and so on... It's feeling good not only to see that you are not alone in this painful, very painful process and "seperation" but also to have accurate information about the process as a whole and in details for each step.

So far I just have my marriage date : 12/19/08 hopefully I will be able to send I-130 by the end of this week or early next week.

Unfortunately I think I have to go through VSC cause I'm in Connecticut.

    Best,
