1. My spouse became a US citizen in late August. That same day , we applied for her US passport book and card. She got them within weeks. About 6 weeks after, we took the original Naturalization certificate to Social Security Office to let them know that she is now a US citizen. Within 10 days, we received a new card (same number) in the mail. It is as easy as that. Good Luck.

    VJers,

My spouse's oath ceremony is over and she is now US citizen. I have to notify social security administration that she is now US citizen (while we were at ceremony, no one from Social Security Administration was present). Is there a form that we have to fill out for this notification at local SS office? How long do we have to wait before we can notify Social Security administration? After notifying them, is my spose going to get a new social security card and number? She did NOT have her name changed....Anyone who recently had their spouse become US citizen, please let me know the process that you guys went thru...

    thank you for helping me...

    CS.

  2. That is very unusual. Call USCIS immediately.

Had a strange thing while checking my online status...

    applied in April

interview in August and approved at the interview

my CRIS status did not change from Testing and Interview...

now when checking over the weekend it has gone to RFE...

    the status states

"On November 14, 2012, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

It is less than 2 weeks away from the 120 days deadline.

is this a fluke... or has something dramatically changed?

Again, my application was approved at the interview.

  3. As others have said,it will be almost impossible. Do not waste your money.
That chances that a girl from the Philippines, who has already applied for a K1 visa, would be granted a visiter visa to the US, is about 0%.

She would have to show a permanent job there, own land, have super strong family ties, something to show without any doubt that she would return. Very very very hard for the average Filipina to do.

Much easier for you to go there to visit, or just wait it out.
4. I do understand your pain. It is a lot of money;however, I do not believe that USCIS can regulate thier fees. This is America. CAPITALISM rules. Good luck.

If you do not enclose your sealed I-693 medical examination in your initial AoS packet then you will receive an RFE for it.

If you do not send your I-693 in before the date specified on your RFE then your application will be denied.

  5. Failure to file taxes is a big deal. It is called tax evasion;if you are rquired to file and you refused to. Hopefully, his income is too low; in which case he does not neccessarily need to file. If he made enough money to file. NOT only will he pay interest, he would pay penalty as well to both Federal and State.. unless he is from TX or any other non income tax states. Good luck.

  6. I do not believe that San Bernadino has the same day Oath. 2 hours is necessary because she will have to wait for about 30-45 minutes on the average before they call her. Chedcking in itself may take 5-10 minutes. It just depends on how long the line is. My wife just went through the same process in Chatsworth, CA. Her appointment was at 10:15 and we were there till 12:30 p.m.

My wife is going to her citizenship interview tomorrow in San Bernardino, CA tomorrow (9/4/2012) and it states on her letter that she should expect to be there for 2 hours. I'm of the impression the actual interview takes all of 15-30 minutes if things go smoothly. So why the 2 hours? Does anyone know if this office does same day oath ceremonies? That would certainly explain the amount of time they take. I would greatly appreciate any comments. Thank you.

  7. Of course they can;but you need to do everything in your power to make sure that your spouse has everything he/she needs to make it a smooth interview. We all went through the process. I was there with my wife and I know that everyone cannot be there with their spouse;but it is a good thing if you can be there. The Manilla Embassy staff in my opinion are great and friendly;but you must be very prepared for the interview. My wife's interview was a breeze.

My suggestion to you is to make sure that your spouse is well prepared. If your spouse is denied, a paper will be given stating what is needed to get the visa. Good luck.

  8. I understand what you are going through. I know St. Luke and the immigration process very well. I think it is good news. Please stay positive. Good luck.

    hello all,

my wife received a phone call from st. lukes on Aug 30, my wife has been tested negative for the 3 day cough test (AUG 15,16,17).

st lukes told my wife to call back on OCT. 17 for her result, apparantly st lukes called her today to come in on tuesday for her results, idk if its a good sign or bad sign. anyone , help? plss. thanxx

ive heard that if st. lukes called before the 2 months are up then its most likely positive, I HOPE NOT =(

    anyone has similar situations ?

  9. He will need to adjust to his new environment and I think he can if he is willing to change. As others have suggested, buy him a book about Diversity on Amazon.com. Give him some time and he will change if he wants to. It is up to him. I understand your frustration. Good luck.

If he expresses himself like that he will be in for a rude awakening and will adapt. Don't sweat it. Also you may have him read the book "Culture Shock USA" which is available on Amazon.com for under $10.00 to round out his viewpoint and expectations in the USA.

  10. It is been fun on this website. I have learned a lot and will continue to contribute on a timely basis. My wife got her US passport and passport card on August 17 and 18th respectively. I wish the rest of you who are still waiting for your turn the best of luck.

  11. You are 100 percent correct. My wife just became a US citizen. If the question ask for one answer;that is all you need to know.
So my interviews Monday and I decided to get hubby to quiz me, bad idea. Heres the arguement. He says that I'm to answer the questions the way they are stated in the book that they give you, all answers where they do NOT ask you to name one or two.

Example question What is the rule of the law? There are 4 answers hubby says I need to know and answer all four, I say I only need to answer one. Whos right?
12. My wife attended the 12:30 p.m. Citizenship Oath Ceremony today, July 25,2012. I was very impressed. It started on time and ended at about 23:30 p.m. At least for us , we were done at about 2:30. We arrived at 10:30 a.m. and had plenty of time to park and get some snacks. Parking was $15. The following services were available to the new American Citizens.

    1. Passport Services by USPS

    2. Voter Registration by the Democratic and Republican Parties

    3. Vendors selling all kinds of Patriotic items.

There were about 2753 people from 82 countries that attended the cermony. Mexico had the highest of about 675 and Philippines was second. No surprises there. Honorable Judge Ike from US District Central District was excellent in his remarks. I am proud to be an American. The service was well organised and security was A+++++. Thank you Honorable Judge.

Thank you USCIS for putting up a great Oath Ceremony.

Go to your portal and look up your consulate with its requirements. They can vary from country to country.

Keep in mind you will also need the NOA2 when you file for AOS.

The letter of intent was for the I-129F application. We did not need it for the K1.

You should be able to find answers to all of these questions from within your portal.

Here is the link, but you already have access to it. http://www.visajourn...p?country=India
