  1. my husband is pakistani but he has been living in the philippines for 6 years now and the interview is scheduled in manila philippines.

he is only required to show 3 police clearance:

    1. from peshawar (because after he turned 16 he lived there for about 3 years) then when he was 19 he moved to the philippines.

    2. from baguio city philippines (current city he has lived for 6 years in the philippines) and

    3. NBI police clearance.

we gave the original police clearances all 3 to NVC and we have another set of originals for the interview including another original freah copy from peshawar pakistan (which is one of the things required to be shown again at the embassy in manila as instructed in his appointment letter)

FYI: in manila, philippines after the medical exam, they take the passports and will forward it to the u.s. consulate in manila.

  2. Hi everyone! on sept. 25, my husband will have his interview at the embassy in manila! he just passed his medical exam at saint lukes and really very happy and thankful for that. anyway, just a question: last year i did not make enough to meet the poverty level because i just got out of school in may 2008 and started working in august 2008. i was only working as a nursing assistant too and only part time but if you total up the annual income it goes over the 125% above poverty requirement. so when it was time to do our affidavit of support, i just got an employment letter stating my annual income. it was accepted and we had no problem with that in NVC. anyway for the whole month of july i went home and left my job because i was gone for about 5 weeks. i came back in august and got a new job and got hired on aug 24, 2009. this time, i am working as a registered nurse and full time because i passed my boards. I asked for my hire letter and they did give it to me. It stated they are offering my a job as a full time nurse with $XX amount per hour (of course my salary almost tripled) but it is contigent upon my CORI check and license verification. anyway i am on my third week of work this week and hopefully in time for my husband's interview i will be able to scan my paycheck and send it to him.

i stated in my letter to NVC with the I 184 that i just started working in aug 2008 thats why income in my w2 form only came up to about 10k for the year 2008.

my question is do i have to make a letter stating this whole story to the consul or can my husband just explain it? we have all the supporting documents anyway... intterview is two weeks, do i have to send a signed original paper? ugh, il have to send it priority!

what other things can people advice...documents etc...

  3. mostly basic question how when where u met and what does ur sponcer does for living and couple of other basic question they ask my wife, if u have all ur paper work in order then nothing to worry about the interivew, i have not seen any one fail interview in vj for a long time , just be confident and truthful and good luck. abby n sheryl

i wish i was there for my husband's interview but the had the stupid RFE...so it delayed everything and i had to come back for work...im moving to a new apartment after the interview and i am so excited to decorate and stuff but just holding it in so that we can do it together...miss my husband now...

  4. yes it is normal and he will get his passport back after the interview with the visa in a brown package,

    abby n sheryl

THANK YOU! PRAY FOR US! OUR INTERVIEW IS SOON....!!! 2 WEEKS THE MOMENT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!

we will keep u in our prayer, my wife just had interview in manila and it is so easy no problem at all, good luck. BTW i am from karachi too. born n raised in the big city karachi and went to school in karachi long time. abby n sheryl

thanks abby and sheryl! tell us how the interview went please! my husband was born in lahore, went to high school in karachi and college in peshawar, and medical school in the philippines...happy ramadan!

  5. JUST 18 MORE DAYS TIL OUR INTERVIEW  NERVOUS NERVOUS NERVOUS!

And tomorow's my first day as a real nurse...i just got off orientation for a whole week and tomorrow I am hitting the floor! really nervous about this and I hope I don't kill any patients on my first day...hahahaha! I have to really keep this job because I have already asked for an employment letter from them and that is my main affidavit of support for my husband since my taxes last year did not make it to the above 125% poverty line (only because i started working in august 2008)

anyway my husband's police clearance is ready! this I am very thankful for! all they have to do is send it either through dhl or fedex, which do you think is faster you guys to get it in time before the 25th of sept.? the police clearance is coming from pakistan to philippines?!

  6. Yeah they asked for that right after they reviewed my DS-230......I got an RFE for it....which totally freaked me out at first! But then when I read the only things they needed were a fresh new pcc and my AOS stuff.....(and had called nvc and made sure of it) I was good as gold. They also asked for it in my appointment cvr letter too. So yeah, we'll be getting that like a few days before we leave for Islamabad......luckily it only takes my husband less than 1 day to get it each time mahshallah....we already had to get it twice as I made him get it much too early the very first time and realized that uscis didnt require it with the I130....so we did it a second time. Both time it took round about 2000rs and 1 day. So whatever the reason for that is......I'm not worried. Maybe thats just how it is in Sialkot....don't really no though. *shrugs*

Good luck to you guys on getting that pcc! ^_^

HEY MUMTAZ, ANY DAY NOW AND THEY WILL MAILING THAT PCC TO MY HUSBAND

HE IS SO NERVOUS AND WORRIED ABOUT THE INTERVIEW. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT? WILL HE BE ON AP? HE LEFT PAKISTAN WHEN HE WAS 19 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN LIVING IN THE PHILIPPINES EVER SINCE, WAS A FULL TIME STUDENT WITH A VERY NOBLE PROFESSION. WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR 5 YEARS AND MARRIED FOR 2 YEARS THIS COMING OCTOBER, WE HAVE A SON TOGETHER, HE LIVES WITH MY PARENTS...I DON'T KNOW WHAT OTHER HOLES THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND TO PUT US ON A.P.?

  7. my husband's interview will be sept. 25, 2009 in manila, philippines although he is pakistani. my husband has been living in the philippines for almost 6 years now. he left pakistan when he was 19 years old to enter medical school in the philippines. therefore the only police clearance he had to submit from pakistan was from peshawar where he lived for 3 years after 16 years of age. the two other police clearance are from the philippines. our NVC case is complete obviously. and when we sent our IV documents, i told my husband to send me the original police clearance from pakistan because I did not want to risk getting an RFE. but we did because they wanted the orignal birth certificate which was resolved in a week because we quickly sent the birth certificate. Now all the we have is the ATTESTED COPY OF THE POLICE CLEARANCE FROM PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN.

I called NVC several times to ask why we still need to bring a fresh new copy at the interview when we already submitted the origanl document. this police clearance was issued in february 2009. anyway i dont wanna risk my chances because im sure this is the first thing they will ask my husband. we are coordinating with his friend's family in peshawar to get another fresh copy for him and it requires some money under the table which i dont mind at all as long as it is legal and it gets to my husband in time of his interview...

and good news...I GOT A JOB...A REAL NURSING JOB....WWWOOOHHHOOOO....so financial support will definitely not be a problem....YE HEY!

p.s. how can i call the u.s. embassy in manila to inquire about this. i guess our case is a little different because my husband is pakistani but his interview is in manila because he has been residing there for 6 years now...

*** so we need to show my husband's police clearance from pakistan. i dont understand this part because we already sent an original copy of the pakistan police clearance so why does he need to bring another one? can he bring just a copy?

HOW CAN WE GET ANOTHER POLICE CLEARANCE? MY HUSBAND DOES NOT LIVE IN PAKISTAN ANYMORE

the first thing they asked on the day of interview even before the interview starts, is new original PC.its I guess standard for Pakistani Nationals.they asked new PC to bring on the day of interview,I m telling this with personal experience my mom had interview on july 16th.

THANK YOU WE ARE TRYING OUR BEST !

  9. congratulations on your residency! you might also want to get a copy of employment from the hospital you are working in stating your annual income and when you started working there and if your temporary/permanent fulltime or not, that sort of thing...my income for last year did not make the 125% above poverty line because i only started working in august of 2008 but the annual income of my job meets my requirement. so when i applied for AOS for my husband, i sent a letter from the place where i worked. I also explained that I have not filed for the previous years because I was still a student...best of luck to you...you sound kinda familiar?

*** so we need to show my husband's police clearance from pakistan. i dont understand this part because we already sent an original copy of the pakistan police clearance so why does he need to bring another one? can he bring just a copy?

All pakistani's have to bring a fresh police certificate from Paki for interview. The nvc told us the same thing. The reason is that all pakistani police certificates have a 30 to 90 day validation, and usually tend to expire by the time of interview or during their further research after the interview before the visa is printed out. The embassy and the nvc require it just in case. So you will have to bring new original police certificates...whether yours are expiring or not....it is a requirement that must be fulfilled. I understand how it must be an extra pain for the two of you though seeing as neither you nor your husband are in Pakistan at this time and it most likely will take you guys some extra time to get those in the Philippines from Pakistan....but that's nvc for ya.....in fact this entire process is a huge pain in the butt, is it not?

Thank you Mumtaz...We are trying our best to get a fresh new copy for it...talking to every person we know in peshawar. im worried that if we dont get it in time we would have to reschedule the interview date... :crying:
