Thanks SO much everyone. Hope to be more active around here over the next few months.
Jomo, Zee Thank you very much.
Kelly, I might need some help...I hope the forms haven't changed from AMM though. If anyone could provide the package forms to me, I would be eternally grateful. I gave R a quick tour of the visa section of AMM a last week so she knows what to expect and where to go and how long things take.
Noura, Sara and LaL, Thanks so much!!
JJ, we'll do fine. 2.0, I hope that the is the final version for you and I! And for the par-tay...I hope it's soon!!
Ganga, Julianna, Nagi, appreciate it so much!
Honey and Simple, Thank you.
Sereia, Thanks. I tried so hard b/c of the visa...but it was love at first sight and it's gotten better since! :-)
WoM, Shukran. Looking forward to adding my name to your lists! ;-)
A&D, thank you!

Hello Everyone. Just got back from a great 3 weeks in Jordan. And well guess what, I'm married...legally atleast. You just can't play around with your naseeb. I tried, I swear....the last thing I wanted to do after the first time doing the visa thing, was to do it again...I kept saying never again...but look at me now. She is SO worth it, but I don't think I am mentally prepared for this.
I'm scrambling to fill out the forms and getting everything out to Chicago. Oh, how the process has changed. Time to get reading and filling out these darn forms.

Julianna is correct...just don't let them see it :-) Wear dark clothing if you have a dark backpack! Additionally, you can put a laptop in there....briefcases/purses are not counted as the 1 carry on. You know those shoulder bags for women, call that your purse....you can put heavy things in there. That is how I control the weight of my bags...especially when all my cousins want Twizzlers...I put them in my carryon rolling back. That thing usually weighs more than my checked bags and it's 1/3 the size. LOL
But on the return flight, they are very strict in Amman. They check you before you clear immigration, and will send you back to the counter to check it and pay for it. If you utilize the city terminal (see RJ website) you get 10kg extra in one checked bag for free to North America. Worth it if you bring lots of stuff back. :-)

I am leaving tonight from JFK. I have taken RJ for the past 7/8 years that I have gone to Jordan.
From what I know, all domestic airlines yield to RJ rules. But they should be no different then dometic carriers.
Of course you can take as many bags as you'd like. But you have to pay for the extra bags and any extra weight. You are allowed two bags checked. No bag can be over 70 pounds at any time, but anything over the alloted 50lbs is considered extra. I recall being told that you can pay $25.00 US per bag over the 50lbs and up to the 70. But the extra bags will cost I think what you were quoted $150, for 50 pounds of weight. A little trick....you are only allowed 1 carry on bag. But I take may backpack and also a the standard carry on luggage (wheels). They usually take the wheeled one at the gate and give me a bag claim ticket, as they place the bag in the cargo hold. At QAIA, it comes on the conveyor belt with my other bags. My backpack, sometimes I put my laptop in it, sometimes not, I have other things in it, but not excessive. THis trick will work 9 out of 10 times. And the chances of sucess depend on the time of season you are flying and the # of passengers on the plane.

It's funny that not only my family makes fun of it being another Herb! LOL
t and a, nope it's green. This more a plant...the stalk and fuzzy leaves. Hilba as you stated is a seed. I hate hilba too. They put it with some pastry called Haressa that makes it taste God awful.
Anyone every had tea with crushed walnuts? They serve this in Jordan. I hate that too!

I would definitely come to the party to cheer you on if I wasn't on a plane headed to Jordan on Friday night! ;-)
Wishing you both the very best on Saturday!!!

LOL. It does look like pot doesn't it? Put it in the freezer and ask your friends to grab something out of the freezer. You'll get the look followed by a "what's this?!?!?!" :-) They let him bring it in? Wow. Interesting.

"MA-RAH MEE-AH" is the correct way to pronounce it. It is sage. Usually dried. Used to treat stomach aches. Added to tea or sometimes boiled alone with water. Herbal medicine and it states awful, but with tea is a pretty good. :-)

Check local sound ordinances. In my township, there is one. And we usually give a warning the first time. Second time we have to go out we have the authority to place them under arrest. Seriously.

Hi. he should look at city websites. he needs to do some networking. Maybe take a job at an arabic owned engineering firm. Take a drive down to Dearborn. ACCESS might be able to help him. Also ACC in Southfield. Also many places offer educational reimbursement as part of the benefits to employees.

KyanWan,
Does NVC set up the interview appointment or does AMM? Thanks!
